Top Airtime

You had ten years to come up with something to say, and the best you could think of was best airtime hills?

Okay I'll be honest: I'm not happy with myself for piling on just now, so let me instead try to offer some constructive criticism. Take it however you will.

Whether or not topics like this one are interesting is subjective. I'm sure there are some people that truly enjoy reading and engaging with them. However, CoasterBuzz is not the place for it. I think it's still listed in the terms of service as the type of topic that you should avoid posting, though I didn't bother to go look it up. In any case, ApolloAndy politely reminded you of this at the very beginning (after you had impatiently "bumped" your own topic with a useless, snarky comment). This didn't have to escalate. The fact that it did, fueled primarily by your sour attitude, leads me to think that you have a chip on your shoulder when it comes to this site. Look, I've been posting here since 2003, and I've been smacked around on here plenty of times. I'm sure most of us have. I'm fairly certain Gonch comes here looking to get smacked around. That's the not the point. The point is that you can choose how to take things, whether or not to be offended, and whether or not you're going to lash out or actually listen to what people are saying. No one can make those choices for you.

Now, about grammar. Again, we're not just trying to pick on you. This site has standards that both the Admins and the people that frequent it try to uphold. Frankly, bad grammar looks trashy, especially to those of us that grew up before the age of ubiquitous texting and shorthand. And we're not talking about simple mistakes like a misplaced comma, or using the wrong "your/you're/their/there/they're" We're talking about mangled sentences that are genuinely difficult to decipher (and failing to capitalize the single letter i...seriously now). The fact that you continue to do it once again suggests that you have a chip on your shoulder and have dug your heels in on the issue of bad grammar. Well, that's not a hill you should be looking to die on.

The other thing about bad grammar is that it is disrespectful to the people reading it. I mean, you want people to read what you post, right? And you want them to understand it and engage with you? Then why don't you take the little extra time needed to clean up your sentences so that people can easily comprehend them? Vomiting a bunch of words onto a keyboard and then hitting Send or Submit, hoping that whoever sees it will figure it out, shows disdain for the people you expect to read what you say.

Anyway, I hope you find this useful. Take care, hope you get feeling better.

Well I appreciate your...discussion.

I didnt mean for it to be "lmk your top 10 airtime rides!!!". I mean mistakes. El Toro RT hill is a mistake. They had no idea it would be that. It was not intended. I was just curious about other singular "mistakes". Sorry if i worded it poorly.

But again I appreciate you reflecting. It shows you are probably a good person. :)

Can you, for a moment, just look at how someone else might view your series of posts? It's like showing up to a low-key party with people you haven't seen in 15 years and expecting to be the life of said party. It's awkward and people are sipping their drinks and mostly trying to avoid making eye contact.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

How do you know that particular hill on El Toro was a mistake? Genuinely curious, over here.

Dude, what?

That's not at all what you were originally asking. Here's what you've said (emphasis mine):

Just curious....what compares to El Toro Rolling Thunder hill? Is it #1? I know there are some dead spots on El Toro but the few airtime moments are imo top notch.

And later on...

Sorry I thought discussing a best single airtime hill could be interesting. But I forgot this is Coasterbuzz.

You said nothing about El Toro's hills being a mistake, and there's not hint of that being the topic you wanted to discuss anywhere in your previous posts. Now I'm actually starting to worry about you.

Dude, speak for yourself. I just post about Dragon Wagons and bran muffins.

...and pancakes and gravy...

But then again, what do I know?

Yeah, I know. I was just trying to put our best foot forward in front of a ten year lurker....

and our Bakeman got credit for his kind words, so I’m out. 😉

It took a minute, but thank God someone finally high jacked the thread. : D

I post seldom on here because he does have a point. I was also a frequent poster, under a different username, on Pointbuzz several years ago. I stopped posting there after the last, of several, dress downs by keyboard warriors. So let’s play pretend for a moment.

If you were waiting in line for a rollercoaster and XYZ asked you the same thing your response would be ….?

I guarantee it wouldn’t be 75% of what I have read here. You would have either engaged him in total coaster geek talk, ignored him rudely, or dressed him down about his grasp of the English language? I’m guessing it would be something along these lines? Well, lets eliminate talking smack for most of you. I’ve seen my share of coaster nerds in person at parks. From what I’ve observed, I think someone could yell at most to the point said coaster nerd might actually melt into the cement, cowering in fear with drool leaking out the sides of their mouth. Unless of course they are in a group at which point they may surround you, blow their stranger-danger whistle, and lock arms in solidarity. Oh wow am I kidding, they probably would still run.

Most of you wouldn’t be this obnoxious of a person while talking to people in public. No, an online message board is hardly like the party analogy given simply because this isn’t a party nor nearly the same setting. And for those who do think along these lines probably only enjoy the touch a woman with sasuage type fingers or their own hand. It appears it is only this way in the clicks and the inner circles on message boards where the echo is rather boorish, sissy like, and deafening.

I suppose there might be several reasons for his question. Maybe he has limited funds and can’t travel or plan his entire life around traveling to parks across America ala National Lampoons style. Maybe he genuinely was curious about what the self proclaimed experts in roller coaster fun actually thought. Or maybe, just maybe he thought he would get a simple answer, regardless of poor grammar. And the simple reason why I would type such a mean yet truthful response is simple in nature. Stop being dicks to people over stuff only dorks care about. Let the SJW type responses begin. I would gladly have a discussion, in person only, with anyone who has torched the guy.

You almost had me - until the SJW comment. No reason to politicize your point.
