Tomb Raider: The Ride - Proof of Giant Top Spin

Does anyone know more specifically than that ($4 - $40 million) though?  Someone has to.
Why do people keep calling this 'just' a flat ride?  I read some of the posts from February and about 3/4 of the people who responded said that PKI needed new flat rides more than anything else.  You guys should be THRILLED that PKI listened to you, instead of complaining that it's not a coaster.  And since no one has  ridden it yet, who knows, open-minded people might actually like it better than a coaster.
I for one won't be to dissappointed if it is just a juiced up fx flatride in a box,but what would bother me is it's location. If that's all this rides gonna be why not stick it between the Racer and FOF instead of wasting valuable coaster space???
Actually, if you look at the area that is between TR and Beast, there is plenty of room for the entrance to a coaster.  Anything put back there would have to go into the woods anyway, and there's plenty of land back in the ravine and by White Water Rapids.  I wouldn't be surprised to see something in that area in the next few years.  Mere speculation, but it would work.
Quailroberts,

Earlier in the thread I addressed the $40M rumored cost.  Just scroll up and you will see my thoughts. :-)

oh yeah, thanks.  sorry about that.
Not complaining about the flat ride itself, but all they hype going into it (yes it appears its a new variation of theming and effects on a new giant version of a flat ride, but they made it seem .like it was going to be something never seen before in the beginning, not a variation) , and the cost of enclosing it, etc that could have been used on a package of multiple flat rides, which they desperately need.
I'm not mad that they want to install a flat ride (actually, I'm not mad in any way shape or form). What I am *intrigued* about is why they didnt go for a more 'traditional' dark ride ala Indiana Jones. Perhaps they thought that was too close to Phantom Theater.

I guess the only thing I'm *really* beefing about is the *choice* of flat ride. I dont like Topsin, nor any ride where you spend a lot of time falling upside-down (I've grown out of that phase). If it had been a JUMP or GIANT FRISBEE, you see me pee in my pants to ride. Me just no like topspins!

I agree that the Jump would have been an excellent choice.  Seems like it would have fit in well.  Who knows, maybe this will work better.

Plus is this a family ride or a thrill ride? As if so much themeing is used, it would make more sense if it's a family ride.

If it is a Top Spin, will they have warnings that indicate it's an inverting ride? There's a big majority of the GP that don't like inverting rides & they would be pissed off to go through the whole pre-show etc only to find out their worst nightmare has come true. (Possibly a part of the experience. :))

If it is a top-spinner I'll be using the exit before you get on the ride I hate all that turning up side down repeatedly (but that's just me)

ALL CLEAR

Looks like guests are riding separately, 3 guests on the bottom left corner, and 5 guests on the top right corner.

Is that pic a part of the ride or the whole ride?

The vehicle in the bottom right definately looks like a top spin.
Just as someone said to me, you can't put too much emphasis on promotional artwork and renderings.  It's meant to give an idea, not specifics.

Although your assumption would be correct. :)

Sorry, try this link...

Here is my take on things.  I walked up to a Huss representative today at the IAAPA convention and just point blank asked "When is the top spin opening at Kings Island"  I knew he would not answer the question but the "deer caught in headlights" look and the smile while telling me he cannot comment on the question said all I needed to know :-)

MASSIVE IAAPA 2001 coverage at www.thrillrideexperience.com   Photos and news items added regularly....

ok, I know many people will not beleive this, because I'm new to the forum...if there was a way to prove that this is true than I would.

I know the answer 100% as to what the ride is, I know what information that's been suppleid is true (minus the cost). I worked at PKI for many years, and one of my managers let the details slip (he's a full timer, they know all!) one day at lunch. I won't spill the beans here as to not get attacked, but if you really wanna know, feel free to email me (troma1@hotmail.com) and I can get back to you.

As for it not being a coaster, please realize that this is a ballsy step for the park, but the GP wasn't expecting a huge coaster. The park didn't build it up at all to the GP, the "unveiling" didn't even hint to it being coaster at all. The coaster fanatics here and on other sites, yes. Sorry about the disappointment. While I don't work at the park anymore, I do share the feeling.

Regarding the price issue, I don't think it was quite $40 million, but close to that would not shock me, I know a rough guesstimate of how much they paid for the display at the fountain, I was even one of the people to help put it up, and they still kept us in hte dark as to what the ride was. However, like I said, a manager of mine told me the details and I don't think he was supposed to. The fact that I also stumbled across a make shift model of it while in one of the warehouses behind scenes before it got moved helped to make me believe him. So like I said, I'm new here, I don't want to bring the hate on to me, but if you wanna know the 100% truth (I can't prove per se to you, but I can prove my sources without revieling who let it slip, bu thats only if you know the park well, as in the operations managers.)

Beebop, we all know what the ride is.  I can't make hide nor hair out of your post.
Who cares! PKI has given us some great rides! We could not have any amusement park close enough to enjoy! So if it's a Top Spin in a box, so be it. But I bet the people who are complaining about it not being a coaster, will be the first people on the TR: TR bandwagon next season!
