Raging Bull, Don't Fight It, Ride It

I think i heard Koaster King say that the ride will get delivered in January, so someone please sneak in, find a good spot to hide for a month, and just stay there so that we can get what the ride is!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually that was me that said that. A friend of mine's company was hired to work on the building. He told me the ride itself arrives in Janurary.-----------------

My prediction is this:Tomb Raider: The Ride will be an elaborate themed fun-house, with its exit forming the entrance to a large-capacity European flat ride. Said flat ride will be entirely enclosed, and will include inversion elements. At the moment, some kind of Top Spin variation appears likely, but there are some other likely candidates, such candidates made more likely by PKI's claim that the ride will be the first of its kind in North America.
I guess we'll find out in a few months if I am even close.
Note that I originally wrote that shortly after my visit on 8/11/2001, before I had heard about the Huss giant ride series.

I'm surprised how many of you take every single word that a park says as gospel truth. As enthusiasts, we should all know how bad parks can be when it comes to hyping their rides. Remember the promos for Medusa West? It was billed as the world’s first flying coaster, even though (A) it’s a floorless, and (B) Medusa East was built a year earlier! Technically, as long as it isn’t an out-and-out lie, parks can pretty much say what they want.
And let’s assume Tomb Raider is a giant topspin.
- Are there any giant topspins out there now? No.
- Are there any totally enclosed topspins, regular or giant? No.
- Are there any rides currently themed to Tomb Raider? No.
Technically, those three are enough to make it “unlike anything we've seen before.”

How are you so sure that it's going to be a flat ride when there has been no mention of it, the building dimensions insist otherwise, and the huge expense for the ride.
Ok, how are you so sure that it isn’t a flat ride when there’s been nothing said to the contrary? I find it amusing that all the people saying it definitely is NOT a topspin admittedly don’t know what is. If you don’t know, how can you rule out anything?
And the same goes for all of you talking about the costs. I’m sorry, I forget -- how many of you own or manage a park? How in the world do you know what things cost, especially something that hasn’t ever been built before?!
For all those saying that PKI wouldn’t spend so much money on a “flat ride in a box,” I’ve got three words for you: Tower of Terror. Disney sunk a lot of money into this ride, and the results speak for themselves. It’s still the best themed ride I have ever been on, it’s always getting rave reviews, and now two more are being planned at other Disney parks. And yet, in its simplest form, it’s “just” a drop ride in a box. Something to think about.

If I'm wrong, then that's just fine, but I just don't see how PKI would hype the heck out of, and be so secretive about the ride if it was just a flatride.

Mayday - Memorial Day Weekend - Nonpoint, Nickelback, Oleander, Staind
Ozzfest - June 8 - Drowning Pool, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Black Sabbath
Awake Tour- June 15 - Darwin's Waiting Room, Puddle of Mudd, Deftones, Godsmack
Tomb Raider: The Big Secret is a disruptive construction project, quite obvious in the park, and it is a whole lot easier to sell a big gaping hole in the midway if you can tell people that's your new attraction being built than if you try to ignore it. Furthermore, since the new ride is Tomb Raider themed, it made perfect sense for the announcement to happen at about the same time the movie came out.
But you don't shoot the works in June when the season goes until November!

In the event that TR:TR is a flat ride:
"I hope that when PKI does open this ride, there is info in their brochures that this is a spin and spew. I know that I PERSONALLY would not want to ride a topspin (I just dont like them) and I'm sure others are with me. To be 'tricked' into an attraction that you otherwise would not ride is not cool. I know SFGAdv makes no mention that Houdini moves. I do not think that is very fair to the guests. PKD at least states that FoF is an indoor roller coaster on their maps. I hope Paramount would continue that for TR:TR. Additionally, if the pre-show is that elaborate as well, I hope they provide a "Chicken Exit" at the ride vehicle so that guest can take in the theming, but avoid the ride (that might be me...)"
And that's about all I have to say about that.

You bring up a good point, though. I'm sure there would be other people who wouldn't want any part of a topspin, especially a "giant" one. A "chicken exit" isn't a bad idea if there's a cool walk-through part before the actual ride.

Jack the Ripper ripped an article from Amusement Business today and posted it to rec.roller-coaster. It claimed that Paramount Parks is spending $40,000,000 total for upgrades to the five parks. According to the article, none of the parks is getting a 'signature attraction' for next year. So wherever the $40,000,000 figure for Tomb Raider came from, it's apparently wrong.
The flat-ride-in-a-box theory is looking better and better...!

Hmmm... now that I know what a Top Spin is, it really doesn't seem like it exactly fits the description of an "escape vehicle". But oh well, maybe the escape vehicle is something else in the ride.
I was at PKI yesterday (9/30), and while in the elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower, the operator told everyone to check out the construction on the new Tomb Raider attraction. A kid in our group asked if it was a coaster, and the operator said "We don't know what it is yet. Well, I do, because I'm friends with the state inspectors who told me it is a 'ground ride.'"
Like I said, I usually wouldn't get involved in a speculation thread (I'd rather just wait), but I thought some of you guys may be interested in this.
Or maybe I'm wrong, but I think PKI is still one of the best parks around, and I'll be visiting anyway.
