Tomb Raider Goes Vertical!

You can have your guess at what it may or may not be, but I can't see them budgeting a huge amount of money for a 3-D flat ride.

We were told that this ride would be unlike anything we've seen before.  The Huss ride doesn't fit that description.

You know, I can't believe how ignorant some of you people are. How are you so sure that it's going to be a flat ride when there has been no mention of it, the building dimensions insist otherwise, and the huge expense for the ride.

I think we should all really shut up about this topic. More than likely none of us are right at all about anything except the facts that were given to us. So i think we should all watch the construction and be quiet.

Speculating is fun... if none of us speculated, where would the forums be? Just a bunch of facts and best/worst topics.

Proud to be an American!!

I think i heard Koaster King say that the ride will get delivered in January, so someone please sneak in, find a good spot to hide for a month, and just stay there so that we can get what the ride is!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomb Raider The Ride will NOT be a Giant Top Spin, this was just one of several rumours going around and I am quite sure it was a false rumour. PKI say this attraction will change the face of thrill ride history and become one of the greatest adventure rides in the world. And your telling me that a Giant Top Spin will
make all this happen, Somehow I think Not.

Also, read the Press Release carefully, It clearly says.

With only seconds to spare before certain calamity, guests strap in to the only possible vehicle of escape. Playing off scenes from the motion picture filmed in Cambodia and Iceland, the escape will include rocketing upward for a close encounter in an ice cave with menacing, razor-sharp stalactites and a face-first plunge straight down toward a pit of boiling, red-hot lava.

Notice the Word Vechile in there, A Top Spin isnt a Vechile, and you cant really theme it to be like one either. Also if you look at the photos on PKI's Offical Page, you can clearly see Vechiles in one of the Pics running on what looks like Rails, with Over the Shoulder Restraints. To be fair the last part in that statement sounds like a Top Spin Experience Going Face First down to a Boiling Pit of Red Hot Lava, but I am still not convinced.

I firmly believe Tomb Raider will be a ride like Spiderman at IOA, but of course themed to Tomb Raider, I believe there will be a Huge Pre Show to start off with, and then you will board Vechiles to make your Escape, you will then preform Tasks that happen in the Movie, all in stunning 3D effects.

i will...goes and packs a bag....

Best woodie: The Beast
Best steel: MF
Best park: IOA! Get to the point... cedar point!
I did not start this topic to become a debate to what TR:TR is.  Instead, I started it to inform those who don`t go to PKI regularly to be informed on PKI`s new attraction, since so little information on the actual ride is known.

I think that we are doing exactly what they wanted us to do.  Talk about their park and new ride, essentially free advertisement for the park.  I know that Tim Fisher, the GM of the park knows what he is doing, and for the park`s 30th anniversary, Tomb Raider has to be a prototype like they said, not just a larger version of a pre-existing ride.  FYI, please wait till you can ride the ride in  about six months before saying what it is because the park will not release any more official information to us untill the ride opens, sometime in early April.

Why don't we just say its a walk through, simulator, top spin, escape ride all in one with great themeing!  That would actually be pretty cool come to think of it...

Take a good look at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure because in a few years the Sea World side will look exactly like it does, a zoo.

"In the press release the ride is referred to as an escape vehicle. To everyone who thinks it's a top spin, please explain how you "escape" on a ride where you board the ride in the same place you start."

Three words for you:
Superman: The Escape

Three more:
Superman: Ultimate Escape

Remember, platform rides usually load on one side and unload on the other. Lighting tricks would be enough to make it work.

Especially given the fact that they didn't have to build anything given the staggering amount of money  spent on this park the last few years. People always complain about lack of flatrides, then when they get possibly the best one ever built, they're *still* not happy.

Am I the only one who thinks that "one of their biggest investments in the park's history" would be silly if it were a Top Spin?

Watch the grass grow!

How much are they spending on this ride, and how much where all the other rides in the park.
The quote given says its ONE of the biggest investments not the biggest or they would have said that. Can someone give a price run down on there latest coaster's and whatever cost the most its going to be less than that. This is just what I think, maybe I'm miss reading the quote though.

Does anyone have pictures of a Huss Top Spin? I don't even know what they look like.
Geez Jeff, you're definitely not the only one.  Top Spin just screams county fair to me.

All speculation aside, we all know what kinda options as far as coaster building 40 million gets you(pretty much all).  Everyone just needs to hold their horses on this one.  ANYBODY that thinks they can/would sink 40 million into any sort of Top Spin needs to retake an economics course.  You can ride a Top Spin for 4 bucks at the fair.  PKI isn't gonna mask a Top Spin with 40 million dollars of smoke and mirrors.  Come on people, think about it.

I rode "X" and never went upside down.

Think about this, they said that the ride is gonna cost (total) an excess of the Action Zone expansion. Thats 40 Million. How much does a top spin cost, 6 mil? That doesnt add up. 34 Million just for theming, I dont think so. Especially (nothing against them) with PKIs track record of theming. I have a feeling that PKI will thrill thrill seekers along with family members alike.

SupermanDL, the park has said that it won't disclose cost until the opening of the ride, but they have stated that it will be the largest expansion in the history of the park. This was stated by PR at the media event.

I THINK IT'S GOING TO BE LIKE INDIANA JONES AT DISNEYLAND. I MEAN MAYBE MORE OF A THRILL RIDE, BUT LOOK AT ALL THE THEAMING ON THAT RIDE, I'D SAY THE THEAMING ALONE WAS PROBABLY ABOUT 25-30 MIL, AND THE RIDE PROBABLY 10 AND 6-8 ON THE TRAINS, AND ALL THAT GOOD STUFF. AND THE QUE PROBABLY 2.5-3 MILLION
We hear you.  You don`t have to shout here to be heard.  Try using the spell check as well, as you have theming and queue mispelled.

I went to PKI on Sunday, and saw the construction of TR:TR on The Beasts lift hill. But, as of now, the framework they have set up is not really big at all. (or so it seems)  And it looks as if one half of the building is taller than the other (but construction is still going on, so that might change)  Maybe there will be an outside portion to it?
