You're probably thinking of the 1989 Depeche Mode Violator tour when Nitzer Ebb opened for them... big pavilions really weren't their thing, so I see how you wouldn't be impressed. Same goes for when Front 242 was on Lollapalooza.

Yah yah, I was there too. Saw both shows when they played in Mountain View and 242 at the Warfield in SF. I thought they weren't bad from 100 yards back. I'm sure they would have been better in a small room.

But that was a long time ago. I like guitar music now, which is funny because I remember being pissed when Ministry dropped the keyboards.

And Jon Bon Jovi...the only rock star to actually get hotter with age, 'cept Robbio of course, and I've seen the pictures that prove that. ;)

Like I wasn't gonna quote that? ;)

Hell, yes.

What I really want to know is what pictures, and what do they prove? You haven't been talking with Corey have you? You weren't hiding in the woods behind the camper were you? Just remember it was cold that particular night.

Keyboard Ministry rules. "Here We Go", "Halloween", "Over The Shoulder." Classics.

Did you see them on this last tour? I saw them about a month or two ago in Pittsburgh in a pretty small, packed venue. It was an amazing greatest hits assault. So What, Stigmata, Thieves, NWO, etc. Everything I would've requested except Burning Inside.

I saw both NE and 242 in small clubs. Both blew me away. Especially 242, since they're so sample-heavy. I thought it'd be a big tape deck, but they really did a great live show.

Jeff, I have the same reaction quite often. "It was that long ago?!" Makes me feel old when we're hiring people at Kennywood born in the same year that "Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me" came out.

Kiss Me X3 is the best Cure ever! Although I am passionate about Fascination Street (the song, of course).

Boy your bands are old, you should try out some Trapt or Linkin Park maybe TRUSTcompany, now that is good music.

Now tell me Cedar Point is running out of space.

From an obvious outsider: So what's up with so many of you frequent posters being industrial music fans? I think it's cool- is it a coaster thing? I have never really gotten to know any other enthusiasts throughout my life so far, and never seemed to notice too many Wax Trax T-shirts on the midway....

...any oh yeah... what does Threadjacking mean????

All of that "Xtreme Radio" crap is exactly that: Crap. It's manufactured by record companies so teenage snot jockeys can feel cool. Every band is a "me too" band. The most hilarious thing about all this "new" music is that so much of it tries to be what Faith No More was circa 1989. The only thing new and different anymore is pop music, but unfortunately true CHR has pretty much evaporated. Thanks Clear Channel!

We'll see if the me-too rap-rock hybrid bands are still together, let alone selling out club venues, in ten years. It's all so forgetable that I don't see it happening.

People wonder why I'm a Michelle Branch and Jewel fan these days...

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

You guys should have grown up in or around Chicago in the late 80s and early 90s. You would have been in heaven.

I got into some of that stuff: 242, TKK, Ministry, etc., but was way more interested in hip hop and house as far as sample-based music went. I liked that stuff well enough, but was more into guitar-type stuff like Television, Sonic Youth, Stooges, etc, and my tastes in 'electronic' bands leaned towards Suicide and Kraftwerk.

I did see a ton of 'industrial' shows, though, as the Wax Trax! bands were always playing in the city and most of my friends in high school were *way* into it.

My thoughts exactly. However, I really like The White Stripes. They're new right? ;)

Fortunately San Diego has one non-clear channel station. It's wonderful. Thank goodness my wife found it...

By the way Chris, you are a lucky SOB for being in that place and time. Fortunately it all came to San Fransisco in the early 90's. I found myself more than once at a party screaming my head off about how much I loved house music, the folks dancing next to me, and the world in general. Wait a minute, what was I on???

Yeah, I really dig the White Stripes. I hate that they feel they have to master to 1/4" tape to be cool, but it's good stuff, very above average.

I've been contemplating XM for a long time... would compliment the MusicChoice I listen to at home on DirecTV.

Speaking of the White Stripes, you heard that Jack White broke his finger in a car crash. Well, because people didn't believe that the injury was real or severe enough to cancel concert dates, the band put video of his surgery on their website...you can see it here.

NOTE: The pictures and video are graphic...view at your own risk.
