SFNO isn't necessarily gone yet...but it COULD be...the *treated* lumber, honestly, should be able to withstand considerable water, flooding. Remember GASM-I from last year? ;)
But, as kpjb noted, the *electricals* are likely all shot...
Might be sensible to try and re-start a park more along the lines of Ponchartrain Beach all over again...just thinking. Not likely they'll have enough residents in the area to make a *medium-sized* park feasible again until....well, 2010-ish... :(
On the Jester ;)

We're all aware that SFFT has a major Floorless looping coaster. Please when referring to rides, don't call something "the" anything if it's not part of the ride title. In this example, the coaster is called Superman Krypton Coaster, or S:KC for short. I feel much better now.
I might add, you shouldn't throw in a colon where one doesn't belong. There is no colon in the name of the ride, why would you add one to the abbreviation?

Haha. Nice try. That could have been an option, if Mind Eraser wasn't already operating at the park. What Six Flags brand park lacks an inverted looping coaster?
Actually, SFGAm has 3 inverted coasters. So it *is* possible to have more than one inverted coaster in a park. Now, I agree that the likelyhood of Batman going to Darien Lake is slim, but there still is a chance.

Usually when using an abbreviation to represent a phrase or name, you first print the name, and then put the abbreviation in parentheses. The abbreviation can then be used in place of the name. The above quote should have read "you sound like a member of the General Public (GP)," and not as Intamin Fan wrote.
NOTE: Not saying that I agree with the GP comment, I was just pointing out that I can be a nit picking arse as well.

They're going to have to reconstruct rest rooms, food service buildings, as well as every other building. They'll never be able to open without restrooms at the least. Then there's the question of when sewage treatment facilities for that area are operating again. Connecting an amusement park may not be a priority compared to dwellings, schools, or other businesses. Every other utility-- electricity, gas, water-- will have to be rebuilt or checked to make sure they're safe to use.
It's easy for people to say they'll rebuild the city, but just imagine how long it's going to take to get plans reviewed, permits approved, construction inspected, etc. They'll either have to hire thousands of people to do that (hopefully ones who know what they're doing) or take the chance that a lot of shady or incompetent builders will be putting up shoddy buildings that are worse than what got destroyed.
Is it just me or is anyone else looking at this thread and thinking it's a bit tasteless and tactless?
Regardless of the people who died, people who have had their lives turned poles apart... (which includes people in this community) it's not very pleasant to see SFNO cut and diced like it has been tonight to satisfy what matters very little in the long run.

Does anyone know how the water in the park actually is/was? It may be interesting for Six Flags to add some markers like Knoebels did when they got flooded in the past.

A day at the park is what you make it!

And I don't think SFNO will open again because it was hit with a category 5 hurricane.
It was a category 4 hurricane and the park did not get the blunt of the storm it hit east of the park.

Or, Batman can be sent to MarineLand. This park needs a new roller coaster, and would be a nice addition. Dragon Mountain is a great roller coaster, but it's the only big roller coaster in the park, and an inverted roller coaster is worth investing in.
Nah, Marineland is too focused on making park guests get their daily excercise between attractions. They only spend their money on new aquariums.
SEND THEM ALL TO SFDL!! O:-)
I think the eye may have passed over the park. Remember, the park is about 15 miles east of NO. *** Edited 9/13/2005 2:23:34 AM UTC by Bartman2***

Yes, but those three inverted coasters are different in the way they operate and in ride experience emphasis. One is a launched non-looping shuttle inverter, the second is a full-circuit multi-inversion inverter, and the third is a reverse-lift boomerang inverter.
Mind Eraser and Batman The Ride are basically the same thing, but from different manufacturers. They're both closed-circuit multi-inversion coasters and having two would be as redundant as saying - "No, no thank you."
