(the rest of) 2008 Holiday World Announcement...

Didn't somebody say on here that the Thunder Bumpers pond was leaking? I'm guessing that was the cause of its removal. That and capacity problems. I'll miss them though.

Nice discussion going on here. I just wanted to add that I love that Holiday World used YouTube as the medium for making the announcement. It's cool to see that a relatively small park like HW is embracing technology and enthusiasts.
Anyone heard that Voyage is getting those single bench PTC trains for 08 or is it just a vicious rumor?

Oh, brother. Where did *that* come from?

Vicious rumor? Baseless is more like it.

^Well, the "rumor" probably came to pass because the *theory* that's out there is that YOUR rollercoaster (and it's boundless aggression) was what prompted Tom R. to build a single-bench train in the first place...

Well, anyway...that's my best guess as to the hows/whys... ;)

P.S. Building a new wooden coaster train that can withstand The Voyage is WAY preferable to taming The Voyage so that current trains can handle the forces... (MY opinion). :)

No kidding! Everyone on "my street" was laughing at that one ;)

Glad I could provide a few laughs on your street Moosh lol. Yeah Gator you pretty much nailed it.

Out of curiousity, how much track is being redone on Voyage this off season?

Those new PTC trains are a joke. I'm skeptical that anyone will ever buy them.

While I think a carousel will fit in great at HW, I must say that I'm bummed my beloved Thunder Bumpers are no more. Head on collisions were just so insane!

Perhaps the bumper boats will reappear someday in a different location?
I very much doubt it, they aren't in many parks anymore.

I'm not following your logic. How does what other parks have (or don't have) pertain to what Holiday World has (or doesn't have).
very true...
Because every park in the US needs to have the same rides, with the same names and same colors. Ya know, because it makes more business sense to do that. :)
Perhaps he meant that they are becoming obsolete?

Even if they might not be in a lot of amusement parks they're sure in a lot of mini-golf, FECs, and water parks. The company that makes them is still in business:

Doesn't sound like they're obsolete or headed that way.

J&J Amusements makes them as well.

...and the company that builds the pools also has a website:

Yep, sure sounds like this ride is obsolete! lol ;)

what are some other amusement parks/theme parks that have bumper boats?
