(the rest of) 2008 Holiday World Announcement...

Okay, our email system is snoozing (garrrrr!) and so I have a minute to respond to your questions:

Star Spangled Carousel is a gently-used Chance carrousel (their spelling) with 30 Allan Herschell-type horses and other critters. Diameter is 36 feet. I don't know specifically about a pavilion, but it will be covered (I'm picturing a gazebo-type shelter, but I haven't seen drawings). The former owner (not a park) doesn't want us to reveal its origin at this point. The location is the former Thunder Bumpers area in the 4th of July section.

(Moosh, I don't know what street you're walking, but you did have it right.)

Reindeer Games is a Moser Spring Ride. We purchased it from Wild West World, so it was only used for a month or so. It will be located in place of Kids Castle in Rudolph's Reindeer Ranch.

Something else we didn't mention, the coasters and Raging Rapids will each get a "test seat" for folks who are worried about seat-belt length.

Thanks, Paula

Very pleased with the announcments and impressed with the test-seat additions. However, I must say a part of me is sad about the loss of the Thunder Bumpers. They were kind of a capacity (and I'm sure a maintenance) nightmare, but growing up they were always my favorite ride. They'll always have a special place in my heart.

I'll always remember that trademark siren followed by, "All boats! Please dock."

R.I.P. Thunder Bumpers.

Can't wait for May!

GASP! No paint for Kringle's Kafe? I'm devastated!! :)
Sigh. We still have people complaining about us no longer have "educated animals" performing in the park.

"Why ain't you called Santy Claus Land no more?"

Whatever. I've become a hard, bitter woman.

Kids Castle...is that the ball pit/slide thing?

Yup. The play area that required gallons of bleach daily to overcome damage done by leaky diapers. We'll have complaints about its removal, but none from our staff. :)

Fecal fountains. Cool! I wonder what holiday e-coli fits in best?

Wow I never thought they would get rid of Thunder Bumpers....at least not this year...
Quite understandable. My daughter will be bummed but with the new ride, I think she'll get over it. ;) (Plus she'll have the carousel, bumper cars and Revolution that she's now tall enough for - plus a lot of slides in SS.)

Now to get her on the rack to stretch her tall enough for the wood coasters. (Just kidding...no flames, please.)

Oh, Moosh already has those. In several different colors, actually.

Yup...for when I'm walking those streets ;)
So will the lighthouse queue and entrance from Thunder Bumpers be staying or has it departed us as well?

They're always like that.:)

We're about as non-corporate a place to work as you could hope to find.

^And that is a good thing in my eyes! It's what makes Holiday World so charming.

I suspected and am very glad Mrs. Koch is finally getting her carousel!

When I was a kid my entire family, including my grandparents, would make annual trips to Disneyland, Knotts, and Magic Mountain (pre-SF...the good days). About the only ride my grandparents would get on is the carousel and I have fond memories going back to when I was 3-4 yrs old, my grandfather or grandmother standing next to me while I rode on my horse.

Even though they would not ride much else it was a thrill to them to see their grandkids having so much fun. I suspect what I experienced is something many others do as well. What a great addition this carousel will be to Holiday World...and no doubt many wonderful memories will be made by those who ride it.

Aw...we're gonna need to change your name from Moosh to Mush! :)
