The real "What is Holiday World up to?" thread

Wow Moosh, for a record-breaking thread, I'd say you hold the record for most new page posts. ;)

Just a little longer and we get to find out what the new goodie will be!!!!

"I go out at 3 o' clock for a quart of milk and come home to my son treating his body like an amusement park!" - Estelle Costanza
Did Will let something slip afterall?

Attendance has nearly tripled – to 855,000 a year ago – at Holiday World in Santa Claus, Ind., since 1993, when the family owned park opened Splashin’ Safari.

“It’s the best business decision we ever made,” said Will Koch, president of Holiday World. “It’s exceeded any expectations we had.”

The park in southern Indiana is doubling the size of the water area over next five years. This year it added a new wave pool and next year a raging river. It also offers everyone free sunscreen.

Past additions include a funnel slide and a giant enclosed slide.

“We have taken to putting in these monstrous water slides and attractions that look good on a TV ad and have that roller coaster marquee value,” Koch said.

I am sorry Incidentalist, I should have shut up when the shuttin up was a good idea, can I be forgiven?

We're cool, don't worry about it anymore.

I will agree with you that the last thing that HW needs is a T.O.W. missile. But it would be quite the spectacle to remove an old ride by blowing it up with some military hardware. It's the T.O.W. vs. the Tilt O Whirl, which one will win? My money is on the one that is packed with explosives!

Yeah is Good!
Haha...

"Forget the old "shoot-em-up" galleries at theme parks...now introducing the missile range! Launch high-explosive missiles at your targets and try to destroy them for massive points and big prizes!

(Hummer not included)"

I can see it now... Paula, add this to a Memorial Day section of the park ;)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Paula has said that Mrs. Koch tries out every new attraction that the park adds. I somehow find it difficult to picture her in full military gear firing a WMD at the tilt-a-wherl. -- Setting on a new merry-go-round, Yes.

Okay, let me see if I have this straight. On Tuesday night we are all going to post our best guess at to what the announcement will be. (The one who comes closest gets a big prize - maybe free season passes for '06 ????????, just a thought for Paula to consider. If not, maybe we can have Bob the Rock for a day.) And then on Wednesday we are going to start a new post with our thoughts and comments on the big announcement. And then on Thursday, Paula is going to start giving us Holihints for '07. Is this correct?

I think Paula deserves some time off before she works towards '07.... let's say opening day of the the '06 season she starts with the hints for the '07 season ;) *** Edited 7/11/2005 7:45:38 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

Anyone immediately asking for 2007 holihints after Wednesday's announcement will find a box full of chiggers in their mailbox! ;)
No one thought my idea for a coaster like Powderkeg was good??? I think im gonna cry! (not)

Please don't cry. I have not had a chance to ride Powderkeg @ SDC, but from what I have seen and heard about it, I am sure that it would be a great addition to HW.

I liked the idea, Landon. I think many years down the road as the park expands there will come a time when they'll add a steel coaster. Given the reviews I think something akin to PK would work.

yeah, i have never rode it either, it just looks cool from Robb Alveys video of it.... seems like it would fit holiday worlds "Rustic" type setting like it does SDC's "Rustic" feel....

Landon, I was calling for that same thing in the original thread and in the beginning of this one (pg. 4). As much as that is what I would like to see, I always knew it wasn't going to be coming in this expansion. I don't think something like that is out of the question for HW, just not yet.

Yeah is Good!
Maybe the T.O.W. stands for Tilt O Whirl.

Great idea, maniaman! It was even a better idea when someone mentioned that on the previous page ;)

d'oh!

mOOSH [hates it when he does that, too]

Why would we need a little flag to tell us the type of ride it is?

I've been trying to figure that one out...

"a raging river"----could this be similar to Hubba Hubba Highway at Water Country USA? It could be like a lazy river, but the curret flows faster and maybe has large rafts. Although I can't see any difference in this then their Raging Rapids. Or it might be a comination of both a water slide and a river raft ride. Any thoughts?

Isn't it "Tilt-a-whirl?"

When I think Raging River, I think about the one at CP's Soak City which is wider, has a faster current, lots of waterfalls and a section with a wave (ala wave pool).

I'm also betting on a steel supported woodie, long with a steep drop, lots of airtime and laterals, a nice long tunnel and speeds through the woods.

Move or build a new Tilt-a-whirl into the new section, and a carousel.

I'm still betting on Valentine's Day for the theme.

LOL...beats me, Paula!

I'm sticking with my original guess although its probably wrong:

Now if I could only think of something for the "O" ;)
