No way!
Still do it.
Exactly...wrong!
Oh, good grief -- of course!
Ha! Good catch!
Love, sometimes, can be cruel...
Jeff who?
Gee, thanks.
You're way off!
Not really...
Hope this helps ease your angst!"
Those sound like the messages on candy hearts at Valentines...well all except the "Jeff who?" one which is arguable lol. The "easing your angst" part really pointed towards Valentines. I'm probably wayyy off. Keep the clues coming Paula...this is TOO fun!
Interesting that Holiday World's Alamo restaurant kind of indirectly commemorates the Mexican victory over the Texans in 1836...

Did I miss any?
What about a section celebrating Arbor Day.
That would explain the "woodn't you like to know" comment. How better to celebrate Arbor Day than cutting down trees!
Maybe it is a clone of Sequoia Adventure in Gardaland, Italy (an S&S Screaming Squirrel), including the theme of chopping down arguably the most majestic trees on the planet.

If they're getting a Screaming Squirrel I want it to be in a New Years themed section to be known as the Hangover.

Why are you all assuming this is something for Holiday World?
We have a water park, too.
Oh, and please don't forget to take some time to stand up, stretch your legs, splash some water on your face...that sort of thing. Some of you are thinking way, way, way too hard! :)

Here in Ohio, I think a number of parks that rely heavily on their waterparks, including two (Cedar Point and Kings Island) that made their biggest capital investments in their water parks might have wished they hadn't. 50-degree temperatures in July and August have a way of depressing waterpark attendance! I know it really hurt Geauga Lake and Wyandot Lake, and at Cedar Point I wonder if anybody noticed the big new waterpark expansion.
Second, Splashin' Safari is getting...what...doubled in size this year? And three of the past three years ('03, '04, '05) have featured MAJOR expansions in Splashin' Safari? I'd think the rest of Holiday World would be suffering from a fit of jealousy by now! It hasn't been totally ignored (Liberty Launch, HalloSwings, Revolution) but it hasn't exactly been the focus of attention, either! :)
I just hope the SNOW we got this weekend isn't a sign of what this summer is going to be like!

However, I did have another "blog related" question someone might be able to help me with. When they are talking about the new 2 trains on Raven, they mentioned slowing the lift. My understanding is that the speed of the lift adds to the speed of the drop. Is that correct? Will slowing the lift slow the entire ride?...because Raven does not always have that hard ejector air it gets late in the day. *** Edited 4/25/2005 3:57:26 AM UTC by RavenTTD***
I still think that we need a "Birthday" land.

The speed going over the top does effect the speed for the rest of the ride, but not as much as you might think. Besides, there's nothing to stop them from pulling a "Beast in reverse" and speeding the lift up as it goes over the top...!
I'm guessing that when Paula was riding last week (she has to make such sacrifices in her job...) she was probably too busy screaming to notice whether they sped the lift to go over the peak...but I'll bet she can find out for us... :)

Beware of Red Herrings.
Paula had to cut down trees to put in some shrubbery, two of them to be exact, one slightly higher than the other, so as to create a two-level effect with a little path running down the middle...

For a little more analysis of that subject, see here. Now, with a smaller drop, the percentage difference imparted by the lift speed is greater (with less time to accelerate, the higher a fraction of the final velocity is determined by initial velocity), but even so, on MOST roller coasters the difference is pretty small.

Actually, this year we're entering the first phase of a plan to double the size of the water park. It will be a multi-year project.
