The Patriot: The Website

Well if you eliminate V:TBC, it's #3. I was including it however.
For those of you saying how closely Talon and Patriot resemble each other - you better study the two layouts again. Notice how Patriot has a dogleg lift hill and then goes under the lift whereas Talon stays for the most part all on one side of the ride. There are quite a few differences, even though some elements are in the same order.

I haven't really noticed, as I don't really care about the specifics as what coaster will resemble what other coaster, but it does seem to fall into the Talon and Silver Bullet vein. Talon didn't exactly blow me away yet Silver Bullet did. I had high expectations for Talon and low expectation for Silver Bullet....so I guess they kind of cancel each other out in that aspect.

They are both kickass anyway, and I am sure Patriot will be as well. It's a B&M invert! It WILL rock! That's all that matters in my book.

What, Swoosh!?

They're practically the same layout. If I had to describe the Patriot layout to someone who had never seen it, but was familir with Talon my exact words to convey the idea would be:

"It's almost exactly like Talon except there is a left turn into the lift and everything after the helix-thingy is mirrored."

Look at the Talon rendering again. Switch the station and final brakes and mirror the ending part. All you have to do from there is connect the station to the lift (the left turn) and you have Patriot's layout.

Yeah it's splitting hairs to a degree, but the way I look at coasters (YMMV) this is VERY similar.

^If they measure from the station to the top of the lift wouldn't that mean that it would be taller if they measured from the ground to the top of the lift? That's at least 12' extra.

Shut Up Gonch, you knew exactly what I meant. You're just exploiting what I didn't say. You should know the way I post by now. ;)

Maybe Keith included the "roar" becuase it doesn't hand sand-filled supports...or maybe he didn't feel like singing over the video... THIS time... ;)

Other comments: It has a Talonesque (Teeeaaaaluuun-esk?) feel for sure, but the layout of Talon IMO is exceptionally "compact", whereas this looks more "spread out".

Since I was one clamoring for a Talon clone from my very first rides, I should be *ecstatic* to claim a W on that one, LOL....;)

The name would be perfect for a Coaster in new England (NFL tie-in? Snyder?)

Worlds of Fun was VERY fun, hospitable, clean, and well-run when I visited a few years back...I'll be happy to go back for this (and that cool spinny coaster)...and the cool theming...and the BBQ! :)

P.S. Thanks DWeaver...missed seeing your posts, nice to see ya around again! :)

Ultra-Technical Diagram :)

So is the coaster depicted in my little drawing 150 feet tall or 15 feet tall?

(took the concept to extremes for the sake of clarity)

This is what Legendary is saying about the lift being 149 feet high, but the coaster only being 135 feet tall. (for anyone not following)

LMAO!

"You're the one who brought it up Coasterbuzzer. Why don't YOU do the research and point it out."

Actually, westcoasterman brought it up and I agreed. Why don't I point it out to you? Why is it so hard to do a search on your own? I know, you don't want to bother. Everyone thinks everything should be spoon fed to them. Oh, and it was real hard work searching the two most recent topics.

Anyway, way off point. Personally, I am liking the colors and scheme of the Patriot.

No, because on this ride, the ground is constantly going uphill from the station to the top of the lift. The lowest point of the ride is the base of the Immelman.

No, actually it is not "constantly going up". True there is an elevation change between where the station will be and where the top of the lift is, maybe 6' max, but not to the extremes that you, Legendary, and Gonch are making it sound like. Nevertheless, the lift hill is higher than what is really being reported in terms of ACTUAL height from the ground.

As for the bottom of the immelman, it will be the closest to the ground, but the ground elevation will be the same as the ground elevation of the station. The only part of the ride that is up on the hill is the lift, loop, and part of the roll. The finale part is on the side of the hill and mostly on the old access road.

*puts on referee jersey, trots to middle of the field*

Coach Joe challenges the play on the field as unncessary use of hyping with a 15-foot penalty.

The play has been reviewed and stands as called! 149 feet!

While Coach Joe's point would prevail with a coaster with traditional seating, an inverted rider's feet would in fact dangle the stated distance from the ground*.

Playa, you are such a tool! :)

Also you have yet to get back to me on whether or not you will be at Camp Snoopy Sept 23 or Valleyfair on Sept 24.

I think Talon looks bare without the stripe so there!

:p ;)

Am I allowed to be at this ride's opening day? ;)
Yes, but behind me and my entourage. :)
Swoosh, can I join your entourage?

I promise not to make any Mizzou jokes...actually...I have the feeling you will be making Husker jokes after going to the game this weekend....

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
The height at the top of the lift from the ground explains the 26' difference between the drop and the lift height.

The pics on rcdb.com look like the train comes pretty close to the ground off of the drop (at least a lot closer than 26'), which leads me to believe that there's an elevation difference of about 10' from the station to the top of the lift.

I'm still trying to figure out in my head where this is stationed. By Rockin Reeler or the other side of the Grand Prix Raceway? And will any of it use part of the OE ravine?
The station will be directly behind where the CoCC building is right now. Both the CoCC building and Rockin' Reeler are being removed. (Rumor has it that Rockin' Reeler is moving to Forum Road). The area vacated by CoCC and Rockin' Reeler will be queue area, which will feature two shade covers much like what are found at Cedar Point on Millennium Force. The lift hill will go northwest up on the hill. At no time does Patriot ever go on the Orient Express lot. That lot will be used for a future expansion that will come later on.
