My mistake on Track Record... I was trying to change the rating from my profile page.

Thank you for that. I was trying to update my track record from my profile page too, and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. Didn't realize it didn't work that way and was just coming here to ask about it. :-)

Ah, but you can still use gradients (textures are a different story...) without sending them down the pipe, at least in Webkit and Mozilla...

Let's see if I can word this so it makes sense.

One of my favorite new "features" that improves functionality for me, is how the newest posts are displayed when I click the blue icon in front of a thread. Instead of the icon just taking me to the first new post since my last visit, it also displays my last read post too.

Helps me to remember the flow the thread was going in. Hope that's intentional and not a bug.

It's not intentional, there just aren't enough posts after the first unread to push the page up further. Just coincidence, not a feature. :)

Yeah, I noticed that as well; I think the always present reply box in the last version provided enough area at the bottom of the page so it could be scrolled down further moving the first unread post to the very top. In this version it's kind of a crapshoot whether the first unread post is at the top, so it's a bit confusing at times.

Just noticed in the Day In Pictures forum, there is no longer a definitive border around thumbnails that have new posts. Also, I still have to manually mark the forum read; I'm not sure if that's by design or not.

Great job on the new site Jeff. However this now makes PointBuzz feel old. Is it going to get the same treatment, or at least the +1's?

Sure, PointBuzz will eventually get this forum. Right now, my focus will be diverted to a new project that I've been brewing for quite awhile, so I'll have to come back to it.

Trying to submit a news item, coming up with a Runtime error message.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

Not sure if it's relevant, but I'm running IE8 (work computer).

edit: IGNORE the previous message. Included the URL in the "main text" section. Reversing the text and URL in the submission boxes fixed the error.

I did find your error in the log... looks like one of the fields was too long.

I really need to get the custom 404 and 500 pages done. It's a lot of little polished up things like that still on the list.

I got the same thing trying to send in the Speed news in from my iPhone yesterday. Didn't know if it was an iPhone issue or not.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Nah. I fixed it so it will just trim anything that's too long.

What is the fascination with the +1? People love it but why?

I like it because people can give others a nod without having to dedicate an entire post to it. It's slightly annoying when you see there's new posts in a topic only to see, "I agree," or "+1."

Just noticed this, and I'm not sure if it was just a one time occurrence. I was reading the Coasting for Kids thread, and I clicked "show more posts", it loaded the rest, including one that was just posted. I clicked General Buzz to go back to the main page, but the Coasting for Kids thread still was showing there were new posts. However, it was the same post that was just posted. I hope that all makes since. Nothing important, just something I noticed.

^^^But what good is an anonymous +1 in today's "I want everyone to know what I think" society?

I am old - I will shut up now. (That should get me a whole bunch of +1s!)

It's not anonymous. If you click on the score, it shows who voted it up.
