The New CoasterBuzz

Not sure what you mean. If I click reply, it scrolls down the reply box.

I'm aware of the navigation covering the post when you click the new posts icon. I mentioned that earlier. Oddly enough, it works correctly in Firefox, but nowhere else.

Yea, the top banner cuts the top of my page too, at first anyways.

Not like that's going to take away how awesome this is.

I'm running Firefox on OS X.

The reply box isn't there until I hit reply - which is what I think he meant.

Used to just be there at the end of the thread...waiting...

Now you have to ask him to come out and play.

Jeff you asked about it lining up up right. It's something very little but it appears that the News, forums, roller coasters, etc line at the top of the banner, lines up with the right of the page. compared with lining up the whole line under that the little roller coaster search click box...nothing big just seems like I should be reading from right to left with that. Most everything else seems to line up with something from left to right on the pages.

I agree with what someone previously said about there appearing to be a lot of empty room or blank space in between lines/posts/etc.

Thanks for pointing out about that arrrow thing too on the main page and sliding the picture ;)

The new site also looks great on my Toshiba Thrive Tablet. Loads fast and clear.

I like most of the new changes. The "floating" posts will take some getting used to, but they aren't too bad. The homepage looks much nicer!

The only weirdness I'm experiencing so far is only happening in the News forum. Clicking reply fails to produce the reply text box, and I can't vote up any posts. However, if I click "quote" on any post, the reply box and appropriate quote does show up then. The same things work fine in the general forum. Firefox 11, Windows XP.

Sorry, I don't like it. Too bright for me. Me eyes get f'd up enough as it is reading computer screen. Way too much white!

When I hit the blue icon to link directly to new posts, the top of the newest post is covered by the CB bar up top, I need to scroll up to be able to read the post. Looks like the newest post is set to align with the top of the page, but so is the header bar, so it covers up the post.

Yesterday, when I clicked on 'Submit Reply', it wasn't opening the reply box. Tried it in both Chrome and IE. That seems to have been corrected, though.

Hi

I'm experiencing the same as kpjb. Otherwise, the site looks fantastic. Well done.

Top part of the screen for me using IE is partially covered by the banner. Login box with email address is covered. That is not true using my Droid though.

I disabled the floating navigation for now. You can probably find it if you have to. :)

I will get used to this by about 2016 when you change it again.

Yeah, I said it. Actually I like that it seems "brighter" to me now...if that makes any sense. It is easier to read and it is similar to my Outlook pane that is on the other half of my screen.

I totally forgot about the track record. I went in to add the Legoland Florida coasters we've ridden this year but all of the old coasters are still listed on that page. Probably just a matter of it being pretty low on your priority list and it really doesn't matter as I probably will forget about the track record again momentarily anyway.

Yup. Not a big deal though.

I also meant to say that I love that the private message notification is very noticeable now. Sometimes I wouldn't notice that I had a message waiting. I don't think that will happen now. :)

I made corrections to the Legoland coasters. I am working on getting corrections enabled as contributions, just haven't got that far yet.

I see what you mean about the reply boxes, but there is a reason for that. Specifically, going into "reply mode" starts the browser looking for new posts. For example, while I was typing this, the button appeared saying there were new posts, and I clicked it, and there was Jason's post.

By the way, I officially reject using Internet Explorer 7, so if stuff is broken, too bad. :) Even the iPad users outnumber you! Wahoo showed me the issue in IE8, which is still too old, but I can't reproduce the same problem on it. I'll keep looking into it.

Very minor... I believe the old calendar would bold the dates that had events added to them. It would be nice to have that again (not that I even use the calendar that often).

Also, I love the Rollback on the home page. My brain likes that "what happened on this date X years ago" stuff. :)

Looks good! And I think it's awesome that so many people are willing to help test things and give feedback. I'm sure things will only continue to improve as the "bugs" get worked out. But overall, I like the design.

I will say, though, that I'm not a big fan of the Scoring Game. I LOVE the idea of being able to "Vote up" a post to offer feedback in the forums. But I'm not sure I'm getting the point of rating members according to contributions... now take it with a grain of salt that I also don't believe in rating my coasters. Some things just don't need to be quantified in measurement in my opinion.

Besides, you know the system must be broken if Gonch isn't at least in the top 10. ;)

Just my two cents...

EDIT: What happened to the emoticon?

I love that feature.

I know what you mean. But, if something as simple as a scoring game gets people to contribute more news, photos and corrections to the database, I'm all for it.

That's true, Jason, but how many contributions can really be made to warrant an associated rating system? There are only so many news stories and you can only take so many pictures of the same things. But again, it's just my perspective.

Doesn't that depend on what they contribute in terms of news, photos and corrections in an effort to get a higher score?

contributing anything that's accepted will get you points (news, photos, coasters/parks)

So, just sending in a bunch of meaningless junk won't bloat your score.

Overall I like the new design - I'm always a big fan of clean formatting, lots of white space, and the "less clutter is more" type of design.

My only comment/criticism is on the home page. While I appreciate the return of certain information boxes on the home page, I *really dislike* having to scroll in each box to read its content. I'd rather scroll through one big page (like here in the forums) than having to scroll through a bunch of little boxes to read what's there.
