On Dudley Do Right's I saw some roller coaster track on the hump, any one explain this?
Someone brought up Ohio as being short in the water ride department.
It's true, and it's because in Florida and California (where it gets HOT) water rides are coveted, sometimes more than coasters. In Ohio, I hear people (including me sometimes) complain about how cold they are every time they get off a water ride. Climate.
The best is probably either Splash Mountain (in Disney WORLD) and Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw falls.
Splash Mountain in the world is a little bit slower through the tranquil floating, and a little bit faster in the drops. However, the second drop (the dark one for both SM's) is better in Disneyland because of this amazing pop you get after you shoot up the hill.
I also have never really been a fan of the 1 across boats with a little rubber pad. Of all the water rides I've been on (this is flumes, not the Shoot the Chutes rides, IE JPRA or PP) Splash at the world is the only two across. I've been trying to find more, but I can't! :)

It's coming...
I agree with many of you about Knott's Timber Mountain Log Ride. It was one of the world's very first log flumes as well as being the first in the United States. Neighboring park Disneyland did hire Arrow Dynamics to create Splash Mountain a few years later, which took the Timber Mountain Log Ride to the next level. TMLR is a classic and is always recognized as one of the finest flumes in the world. But I've heard great things about the Dudley Do-Rite's Ripsaw Falls at Universal's Islands Of Adventure.
DDR at IOA. There is none better. 75 foot drop and incredible theming. It looks like everyone that has ridden it has put it at #1, while everyone else that hasn't been on it mentions something else IMO.
Seems like the only good log rides are either in Flordia, or in California (Islands of Adventure & Disney World vs. Knotts Berry Farm).
I really am quite surprised.
I would have thought that more parks would have tried to make their log ride a lot more of a enjoyable experience.
That's not to say that all log rides not in those states suck. Just the opposite. All log rides are good one way or another. They're fun little diverse rides that offer a unique experience at every park. I haven't ever seen a clone of a log ride, and virtually every park has one.
It's just too bad they don't put as much effort into those rides as they do their coasters or newer flat rides.
I'd like to see my local parks give their log ride a complete overhaul. Add themeing to it, some more landscaping... and even possibly change the layout a little to give it a new life (although, I must say... that is the only ride that seems consistant on its level of crowds to ride it on regular open season days... BUSY).
If PKI can do it with that Wild Thronberries log ride... why not other parks?
I think probably because why bother if it's still popular. (I hate when I answer my own question)

As Rickyswmn said, the ride names at SFGAdv change often... I think that flume was called the Hydro Flume, but I could be thinking of the one that was on the other side of the park (the one that became intertwined with Adventure Rivers when it was built)."
That flume is(was?) called Irwaddy Riptide. At least that's the name it had during the Adventure Rivers period. I'm pretty sure that name has stayed though. It is interesting because it the boats are shaped like boats instead of logs.

everything's better with a banjo
I think that Wild Thornberry`s River Adventure at PKi has some great theming and its renovation from the old Kings Mills Log Flume is fantastic. I`m glad PKI restored and enhanced this arrow designed flume that once stood at Coney Island (Cincinnati). It may not be the best but is is fun, more fun than it used to be since it got the new theming!

I had no idea that flume was still standing... I assumed it was dismantled after Adventure Rivers was taken down.
Dudley-Do-Rights, Ripsaw Falls. at ioa. the best. that is it

DAWGBYTE u took the words right out of my mouth.i feel they should make them a little longer and faster. my favorite is timbermountainlog ride at kbf, not only is it my hometownj park but a memerable experience every time i go on it. i like it a lot more than slash mountain because it has sounds from a forest instead of little sh*ts singing some gay disney song, i also like how it is dark and travels through different spots at different speed but keeps a good overall speed, splash mountain is way too slow and bright, i also like the smaller logs and a smoother ride where u never touch the bottom.
i say most parks should rebuild their log flumes, it wouldnt cost too much and is one of the busiest rides in most parks
and like somone said, sfmm log ride is truly a awesome experience traveling the the woodslike terrain, u actually feel u are alone in the woods, not in some theme park with a million other people there.

I love the log ride at Waldameer. I think it is the best this side of the mason-dixon line.

the best WAS the log flume at rocky point park in warick, RI. the park is now defunct just standidng there like a ghost town. sad sight for anybody like me around the area. but the log ride has been sold off to the phillipines.
Defunct - Kings Mills Flume at PKI. I haven't been to the park to try it as Wild Thornberry's yet.
Timber Mountain Log Ride at KBF hands down is the best I've been on.

I think SM @ DW is the best but I havent ridden Dudley Do-Rights I did have the chance but it was kind of cold and no one would wait in line with me and I didnt want to be the only 1 soaked.
I like Escape from Pompeii a lot at BGW but it isnt a log flume but is very very fun

Cedar Point, doesn't get any better then that:)
that is not a log flume [pompeii]
While we may debate on the best log flume, the worst has got to be at Martin's Fantasy Island. This thing is called "Log Flume", built in a field, and has a glorious view of the interstate. Maybe that's the theme? :)

So many coasters - so little time.
I couldn't agree with you any more, Chaindog!!! You hit it right on 'da nose!
Horrible theme (none), horrible view (cars zooming on pavement), and just nothing!!
Sad sad sad.
