Are you talking about the great Top Gun > Flight Deck debate, Andy?
Just because an awesome ride's name changed to something as lame as Flight Deck doesn't make the actuial ride any less fun. Thats a very goofy thing for anyone to suggest because the ride is the same. In my seemingly unpopular opinion, Flight Deck is a sucky name and therefore downgrades the ride *experience* from what it was before the name change. Themes let me pretend. I can't even say the new name out loud without using a sarcastic tone anymore.
Same topic, different name? Not realy. Terminator would make a kick butt theme for a ride. Who knows? They just might have a few good ideas that would make the wood coaster concept work. I can't come up with any ideas off the top of my head what to add to the concpet to make it work, but I don't theme rollercoasters for a living.
It'll be interesting to see the finished ride.
We all have our own likes and dislikes when it comes to themes, stories, characters, color schemes, placement of rides. We all have our oen opinion as to what the designers of these attractions should do to keep our beloved parks from changing for the worst. That's because we all have a different perspective from one another. Am I not stating the obvious?
On a positive note, Wood is becoming rare, so kudos to SFMM for the new wood!

I don't know, I think Terminator might be a good name for a wooden roller coaster. I can just hear the people now: "that ride just Terminated my back......."
^Not if it's a GCI. ;)
I really don't care what they name it. It just give me more incentive to go back to the park next year.
On the other hand, when I think of "Terminator" I think of a big, bass ass steel.

lol, Bear. Does anyone know where the ride is being built? I heard it will go in the back "Conner" of the park. next to the "johns"-err I mean restrooms!

It's being built where Psyclone used to be, right next to Deja Vu. Given the size of that plot of land I suspect we'll see a Evel Kneivel clone.
Moosh makes a great point with other woodies getting names. Maybe we will see the trains (not made out of wood), get a decent themed makeover for this.
Regardless, clone of EK or not, it's a woodie that I am sure will be well received at SFMM. Especially since the last woodie that was removed sucked ass and I am sure was not well received by most.
My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.
I dunno, I liked it better than Grizzly. ;)
I didn't hate it until I had my first ride on Ghostie.
Apparently I'm incorrect about the ride being a EK clone. According to a source its a custom layout and will feature something GCI hasn't done before (well, they've come close).
Is the new thing a big straight drop? Gwazi's drops are mostly straight but curve right at the bottom, so maybe that's what you mean by they came close?Mike (who also is wondering what the delay in an announcement is)
How would it be any different than themeing a steel coaster? You paint it, add a bunch of crap in the queue, and put some custom fiberglass on the trains.

What? GCI's first out-and-back woodie? :)

How exactly can you theme a wooden roller coaster?
I don't think it's possible, seeing as Cedar Point hasn't done it yet.
