Survive It and Drive It II!!!!

Ok Gonch you got me hooked, I just checked out the trip log and I must say great site nice pics and the quotes of they day are priceless. I was going to do a post trip site for my 17 day trip in August but now I may take the challenge and do it as we go and upload when I am at hotels with internet access.

So do we still have time to bet on a winner? #34???? tilt a hurl as a fav ride? she's sick! *** Edited 6/22/2005 1:46:58 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

And as I've said before, picking on WT is just too easy! You just get on, admit that it's going to suck, and then it's all uphill from there ;).

I've been on Mamba and found it to be equally disappointing. Hopefully we'll get to Dorney this year and ride SF but will definitely be keeping expectations low.

It's really too bad someone doesn't get the SRoS formula down right and market a new breed of steelies. But it looks like for now we'll have to rely on GG and S&S for blazing new ground with wood (god bless 'em!).

The Morgans would do "just fine" if they'd just reduce the braking...the trains are *not horrible*, but certainly nowhere near as good as the Intamins, Gios, or that Morgan-Arrow hybrid train in Pittsburgh.

Mamba, Steel Force, Steel Eel, all *heavily* braked...so much so that it REALLY detracts from those rides, and totally *destroys* the airtime on the bunny hills. Steel Eel probably still *delivered* the most, but then again those were ERT rides, so who knows...

SF delivers on the bunnies in 1.1 even with the brakes. Mamba is sometimes a very light brake and has some air on the bunnies too. WT is very light air on the bunnies when the brakes are light. However, I have said it before and I will say it again. WT took airtime to a whole new level with the couple brake free rides during last year's ERT.
I had some good fun air in the post brake run bunny hills earlier this month on Steel Force at Dorney. In the back it was ok. In 1:2 I was shocked as it threw me out of my seat into the lap bar harder than I was expecting.

Also retractable car style seat belts would seem to me to be a good idea for the "ride/no ride" question. If it clicks, then you can ride. Else, "Sorry, you can not ride."

I also like the retractable seat belts as they seem to give a bit to let you float.

You know, I have ripped on the Morgan hypers in the past...

Until my ride post-PPP last fall. Even with the midcourse brakes on the airtime was plentiful. I think it is possible to experience the Force on SF. As for WT and Mamba... well I'll give them a second chance someday.

I still couldn't imagine riding 1200 laps on a single ride in a week, for that kind of car no less.

dragon, #34 is out as of today-- another unexplained elimination challenge casualty. So much for the Tilt-a-Whirl theory.

Personally, I still think the only elimination there should be in a who can ride the coaster the longest contest is when a person can't or won't ride any longer. None of this pop trivia quiz crap.

They don't want people riding all summer. With a free car up for grabs, a few would and some could get sick or something or maybe it would last longer than the radio listeners care to hear about it.

Speaking of listening to the radio in the Twin Cities, who else thinks JackFM is the bomb?

The forecast is for 100 degrees tomorrow, you would think that would put an end to it. A contestant dropping dead would just ruin all the fun this has been already.

Will have to tune into 104.1, interesting concept anyway (http://www.answers.com/topic/jack-fm).

I got a thing in the mail from the Jack in Denver. It's been around for about a year and I think it's been doing pretty well, I listen to it on occassion.

As for this contest, I think it would've been better if they went through the night, it would end sooner. Although staffing and running a ride continuously for days at a time is a headache on its own, I have had experience with that a couple months ago.

Dave Dragon, go Dave Dragon, and the Star Force Five!

Local news media has picked up on the challenge once again.

As of Wed 4 remain. And they got no sleep, instead got to play with park services by cleaning rest rooms and trash duty.

The cash whimp out offer was $1300 to leave yesturday morning.

The contest ends one way or another on Monday the 27th. If they did not do elimination or other challenges this could go on all summer.

We will see what happens in the 95 degree heat today. Heat index will be close to 100.

Ok those challenges may be needed but they should be ride related challenges... Throw them on a spin and pukes for an hour then run them back to to coaster for a few hours then another different spin and puke for an hour repeat until you got a winner.

Another gone yesterday afternoon, down to 3...

HAZZOOLAH!
Down to 2, one took the cash and another lost a challenge. Odd thing was the cash was more than 3rd place prize.

Which one will win #28 or #35? *** Edited 6/23/2005 3:47:59 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

Gonch: I see what you're saying...I stopped by Wednesday with my girls and the trims are a-bitin' again.

My guess is that the trains were coming to a full stop on the first brake run during three-train operation, which they were trying to avoid.

Whatever the case, WT is back to full SUCK a la 1999.

PS - No wonder everybody loves Brittany. She's very personable--even when nodding off on 90-degree day.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Doug wins! The other girl took 2500 plus the 1200 second prize. Reason she gave..."if I have to sit next to Doug all weekend, I'll take the money." Quote of the day..."I think my boxers fused to my butt hairs." ~Doug

Delightful....at least I won't have to change my opinion about those blasted overbraked Morgans! ;)

They're COASTERS - let them coast! :(

Tonight they were running trains #1 and 2 on WT and no question #1 is running far faster and quieter. Try 1.2 in both and see for yourself! It's really almost not bad.

Hey Vater, you are the only one to comment on Wesley Willis. Good to know he has not been totally forgotten.

Contestant #35
