Six Flags Magic Mountain to reclaim coaster crown in 2010

SFMM will tie the record..not reclaim it. For all we know, CP will once again be the sole-holder of the title in 2011.

Go CP.

Actually truth be known Batman was AWESOME and I actually grayed out on it! I love my Raptor but there were plenty of coasters at MM which could easily take over for my bird of prey!!! :)

Gonna be in California again mid December-early January-definitely goin back to SFMM and going to check out Knotts this visit too!!

YES! I was wondering how long it would take for some Cedar Point geek to come in here and finally reopen this box of stale crackers. [ /sarcasm]

Get over it.

And what I said was very, very mild to a typical "fan boy" or "geek". So I respect the company I worked for. And I can't stand Six Flags. Oh well.

Get over it.

^You can't stand Six Flags because it's the cool thing to do? Actually those days seem to be over since Shapiro took over.

And CP will be tied with SFMM in 2010 for most coasters as CP already announced their 2010 addition being a water ride.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

When did I say I can't stand SF since it's the cool thing to do? I'm not just some 13 year old kid that cheers for Cedar Fair and shuns the rest. I like other parks and chains, you know. Don't judge me as one of those fan boys, because I'm not. I think SF is quite overpriced and not as safe as they should be.

And I know CP will not be building any coasters next year, I meant to say 2011 above but screwed it up.

Okay wise guy, what scuttlebutt have you heard around the park about the '11 project?

I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!

And who ****ing said I knew what's coming for 2011? I said MAYBE Cedar Fair will take the title back solely in 2011.

Get off my ass. I said nothing wrong and I didn't even diss SFMM, I just said they don't quite have the title just yet to themselves. Whoopie!

Anyhow, CP is probably going to do a coaster in 2011 aswell as Magic Mountain who already stated that they are doing something with Intamin(plus being 50 year Six Flags Aniversary)

So they will have 18 coasters each, big deal! Nobody really cares, as long as these are great additions to the park, everyone should be happy--

Coaster, I didn't mean to tick you off. I'm just saying that when I worked at CP in '05 (group utility), there were rumors flying around like crazy about what was going to go in the old WWL site.

I wouldn't be losing sleep over SFMM tied with CP in the coaster count. But if you want CF to continue adding fancy roller coasters to their parks, they better get their crap together in improving the guest experience and their perception of value throughout the park. Otherwise we're going to have the early 00's Six Flags experience at CF parks.

It's really funny how things have changed in the last 5 years.

Jo, I am glad you have taken such a liking to my favorite park. Just curious. I know that was your first trip to SFMM in Aug. Will this be your first visit to Knott's?

My mother (1946-2009) once asked me why I go to Magic Mountain so much. I said I feel the most alive when I'm on a roller coaster.
2010 total visits: SFMM-9, KBF-2
2010 total ride laps: 437

Rob, I agree with you big time. I made my first trip to a SF park this year (SFNE), and was pleased with the level of guest service. The food and parking prices, not so much.

I'm not losing sleep about the number of coasters. I'd rather see QUALITY over QUANTITY.

The food and parking prices are both ridiculous. With SP's, parking prices don't really effect me, but I do think they are too high. The 25% food discount at MM helps me very much, but at KBF I can leave the park, walk 2 blocks and buy fast food. On my last visit to KBF, an employee didn't charge us for all the food we ordered, because she thought the prices were "insane". With my discount, I can get the same meal, including a large drink, at Panda Express at MM for $8.61, which would be $16.74 at KBF. The value book is another huge plus in favor of SF.

Doesn't CP count Demon Drop in their list of coasters?

(can open...worms everywhere!)

^ Now that Knott's is taking it off their hands, they can count that as their 11th coaster in their TV advertisements. ;)

Its 2001 all over again :-)

For you Southern Californians, what's the land area like near SFMM and KBF? To clarify what I am asking, do either park have room to expand or they pretty much now land-locked?
