Six Flags Great Adventure announces the world's tallest, fastest coaster today. Kingda Ka will be an Intamin rocket launching 128 mph in 3.5 seconds reaching 456 feet tall. It will be configured similarly to Cedar Point's Dragster, only with a drawn-out 129-foot bunny hill.

Eightdotthree,GADV is getting rid of Bugs Bunny Land. So they are actually getting rid of a few rides, That's why this whole package was added because since they are getting rid of BBL they needed to add a few more family and kiddy rides.GADV wanted some new family rides to go along with Loony Toons Seaport to keep everyone in the family happy.*** This post was edited by NYCoasterGuy 9/29/2004 12:10:44 PM ***
I'd count on seeing all those Bugs Bunny Land rides next year...rethemed.

California Screamin' and S:UF @ SFOG are other examples of the dual station-single track design. X-Flight and Batwing are other examples, but someone threw the word 'successful' in there :)

My issue with the OTSR's isn't the airtime hill. I thought that Storm Runner had fantastic airtime with them, and I really really enjoyed most everything about Storm Runner. I just hate to give up the freedom that lap bars allow. I get the feeling that if this wasn't at a Six Flags there would be lap bars.

In all fairness if its half as good as Dragster it will still be a great ride.

I think more specifically if it wasn't SFGAdv, SFNE, or SFMM, it would have had lap bars.

This is gonna double the park attendance!! I'm so excited the station house and new area look really really good! I'm so damn excited!! I'm flipping out over here. This is amazing!!
Oh man am I glad I live here in New York City! Having ridden TTD last year, I can't wait till next year! I was a little nervous about the OTSR but maybe it will change do to it being intamin. That's two new coasters less than an hour from me next year!

Also note that the name doesn't include either Maxxx or Stealth :)
You didn't hear, Gonch? "Kingda Ka" translates to "Maxxx, King of the Stealths" in English. Geez, get with it! ;)
Ah you're right LG. I totally forgot about the name speculation.
I love how they did the dual load station!
Cedar Fair must be glad to hear that it isn't a 500+ft coaster. They have boasted being the first to break the 200', 300', and 400' full circuit coaster records.

Awesome name. I'm not sure if I will make a trip just for this, but it may sway my vaction decision a little. Hope they get the launch working efficiently.

I think more specifically, Danny, if the man hadn't been ejected on SRoS on May 1 of this year, you would be seeing lap bars on Kingda Ka, simple as that.

Also, I DOUBT this will be a parking lot coaster considering the drawings Legendary.

Yeah, I'm sure the park would want Keith to keep the parking lot lines underneath the coaster in the animation, that would look *really* impressive when they are trying to market their new record breaking ride! ;)

I'm just saying from the rumblings I've heard, I wouldn't count on that lush landscaping being underneath the ride is all.

No, I'm thinking it was Intamin's and SFGA's intent to put OTSRs on Kingda Ka long before The SRoS incident. Remember, this coaster has probably been in planning since Dragster's inagural season, or even before.

The animation doesn't show this but Storm Runner's didn't either, but I wonder if there is going to be any type of prelaunch recording or countdown?

It will be interesting to see how the duel station design works with this one. It works great with Storm Runner, but those trains are long and the unloading/loading takes much longer than the ride length itself. That's why 2 stations improves the capacity. If they didn't use 2 stations, 1 train would be loading and 95% of the time the other train would be right behind it, doing nothing while waiting to enter the station. Given the SLOW speed of the ops at SFGadv, I think 2 stations will work great !

S2K: Even though the coaster may have been planned for a couple of years now, I don't think they would need to have the details of the restraint system finalized that early. It seems to be like this is something that could be decided later on in the planning process. Afterall, B&R:TC had its OTSR replaced with lapbars after several years.
