Was at SFGAm yesterday, (Sat. 8)....and parked right in front of Shockwave, just to look and speculate. Looked at all the footers I could see...and some have pinkish-red spray paint on them. While there are some same color X's and numbers...34 and 35) near the fencing towards the entrance to the park.
The 3 trains are no where to be found, tried my hardest to look to see if there was the lift-chain and couldn't tell, I think I need glasses, cause I couldn't see jack $hit.
The shop that you used to exit out of is completely empty...(and yes I peeked thru the windows.)
*The camera that used to take your pictures coming out of the batwing, is completely gone, no where in sight.
No official announcement yet....but still makes you wonder, huh?

Cornball Express- America's first stand up woodie.
I am not saying SW is staying or going, but I had to post on this...
1) The shop being empty is no indicator that the ride is being torn out. This is practically the end of the season. In years past I have seen many shops closed and empty.
2) Ride photos taken out...If the sales for photos have declined to a certain level, it would not be cost effective to keep it. There are two instances that I know of (and there has to be countless others) where the ORP had been removed, yet the ride is still there - S:TE at SFMM and FoF at PKI...

I'm just going to play devil's advocate here...
Two or three weeks ago, after close, I went around the permiter of Shockwave. (parking lot areas) I'm not saying that you're lying, because they could have very well taken them out in those two weeks, but the on-ride camera was still there, and the lights on the moniter were still on.
Did it cross anyone's mind that the ride could just be under inspection? If one of the trains suffers a serious accident, then wouldn't common sense dictate that SF take out the other two and inspect them? That in turn could explain why ...
A)The Trains are missing.
B)The Shop is empty. (they don't just keep the merchandise in there all winter long)
C)Shockwave won't open this season. The inspection could take a lot of time, and since it had low ridership, GAm may have decided that it wasn't worth opening back up this season.
D)Major Deconstruction hasn't begun yet.
The first, and last thing (not to mention only thing) we heard about Shockwave biting the dust, was from a credible source- Amusement Business. http://www.coasterbuzz.com/news/news.asp?NewsID=4348
I'm convinced Amusement Business reported the truth, but published it a little too soon.
and if not...
Amusement Business reported that Shockwave was to be taken out to make room for the new ride. That's all fine and dandy, but strange things have been happening around Yankee Harbor. East River Crawler, Cajun Cliffhanger, and Power Dive have all been taken down.
Make what you want of that...
Note: I'm just making observations, for all I know, they might have decided not to add that new ride next year.

Without pouring more rumor gasoline onto the speculation wildfire, is it possible that SFGAM will be getting some long-awaited updates in the flat ride department? Or is it true that if a new coaster is added, it will be added in the area south of the railroad tracks/bridge, beginning at Power Dive and traversing towards/intertwining with Batman?
Who knows. I still think that Amusement Business is more likely correct than incorrect. Tim O'Brien is pretty well connected.

You guys said something about pinkish-red footers inside the Shockwave compound. Can anyone provide pictures of this?
I tried to get some pics of these two from Sky Trek Tower but you can't see them in the photo.
Also ondrew hartigan I also saw that blue thing under the 2nd loop of Shockwave, I have a pic of that but I didn't think it was any big deal.
Edit: Also I would like to note they are not footers, but rather pinkish marks on the ground.

Those are the ShockWave footers not for a new ride
Magnum, have you rode Superman Ultimate Flight?
No trees and undoubtedly one of the most intense coaster elements ever. The closest thing in intensity I have experienced is Shockwaves 2nd loop.
The positive G's last for so long on the bottom of that pretzel. You can't even scream as all the air is pushed out of your lungs.

All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)

Not just trying to start a rumor, but just trying to consider the posibilities (hoping for the best).
Ya know? Now that I think about it, that's starting to make me wonder. The flyer was supposed to go in Whizzer's spot, who's to say that when those plans went poof, the flyer didn't go with them?
A flyer would more than likely be a more compact design, so the space between the Yankee Harbor flats would be more than enough room for it.
And I still wouldn't be surprised if Shcokwave was SBNO next season...
