Mitch Hawker has posted the results of his wooden coaster poll. The poll uses an algorithm that intends to separate ride quality from rider quantity, so the sheer number of riders for a particular coaster doesn't weight the results. Shivering Timbers at Michigan's Adventure has again claimed the top spot, displacing Tonnerre de Zeus, which slid all the way to 10.

I kinda like Rideman's comment for Cyclops: "Its a great first half of a coaster". It's a really short ride, and that probably partially explains the double ride policy on it. (The other part would be they want to price it the same as a Go-Kart track)
I also agree with CPlaya - The DROP (note all capitals) while being the finest moment of ejector air (outside of Trebuchets in Eurpoean extreme sports clubs), is not the only course. The rides first drop is gut-wrenching and has some air, the second drop offers some nice out-of-your seat extended airtime, then there is the snappy turnaround into the speed hills, then comes THE DROP, follwed by a nice low altitude, fast station fly by. If only the ride were a bit longer.... I mean, like most CCI's it comes tearing into the brakes at full tilt. I mean, since Zeus wasn't built yet, they could have added a nice long Zeus-ian terrain out and back leg of bunny hops with nice floater air onto the end of Cyclops to create "The Perfect Ride"
BTW: I am surprised SOB ranked as highly as it did :)

Congrats to Timbers (and Kara)...even if it WASN'T my personal fav, I appreciate the fact that these are opinions...
And as far as Villain, Jeff, I don't think it's that SFWoA *can't* take care of it, they seemed to do fine with BD....I think it's that they don't *care to care* for it....
bill, who has yet to get to BCK&C, but has it *on the short list*....and who WILL re-visit this thread, so be careful what you say about me...lol...;).
Hey, don't take the name of 'Clops in vain, buddy. You and your little minibike are no match for the Minivan of Justice...you'd catch a hood ornament right in the chin.

Obviously my #21 ranking of Timbers had no affect on its performance in this year's poll. So much for the conspriracy theories....

Mitch's poll: Further proof Moosh has no taste! ;-
J/K there, Moosher. The poll results were very interesting. Count me among those who would like to see The Beast up higher. And I think Rolling Blunted is much much worse than PGA's Fizzly.

Edit: How come on MY ballot the kiddie coasters didn't just "fall to the bottom"....talk about *no taste*...;) *** This post was edited by rollergator on 12/2/2002. ***
'Playa, you're the one who made the analogy, if Cyclops should be mad at anyone it is the driver of the minivan of justice (lower case intentional). I have no desire to piss off what I hear is one of the baddest one-eyed-monster-woodies. Also, I'd have to be catching Big Dipper standup air on the mini-bike in order for my chin to be anywhere near the hood ornament.
Has the class all finished the Steel Poll.
Heh, heh, one-eyed-monster-woodie, steel pole.....
Shut up Beavis.
Don't make me open this sliding door. You wouldn't like that...

While the air on Cyclops is great. Phoenix and Screechin Eagle deliver that kind of air throughout their entire course.
Cyclops is good but I thought Zeus was the better of the too at the park. All cyclops had was the drop. The rest was very unimpressive.
All my nimber ones (I had 4) did quite well. Timbers, Phoenix, Cornball, and twister was not as high as it deserved to be.

I've been Mooshed many a time in my travels with Mamoosh. He plans where he's going to sit on coasters very carefully, so that he comes flying into you when you least expect it. He's mental, I tell ya!
I did get my sweet revenge on Thunder Run, though. He picked the wrong seat for once (and he'd already been on it, and I hadn't!). I put my hands up and was having a good old time when that gnarly lateral on hill 3 threw me into him at warp speed. Did I say I was sorry? Hell no, I owed him!
