shirtless in parks-how do you feel

Let people do what they want. I just laugh at people who shouldn't have them off, but me, i like getting a tan and my body is good looking too. I'm confident enough to take it off.

Swoosh said:Dane, so if people go pantless you are fine with that?

Mabey if they qualified for one of those failed FOX tv shows, "Are you Hot?"

I think most theme parks should allow guests to come shirtless or wearing any clothes they wish as long as their genitals are covered. Many of the common excuses for why patrons cant come to parks shirtless are just that...excuses and really make no sense whatsoever.

They are just made simply because the people who run the parks have some personal issues against seeing people shirtless and they should really learn to deal with these issues and stop taking their prejudice out on their paying guests who actually made the effort to take time to come to their park. The least these guys who run these parks could do is if they have problems with shirtless guests, they should just admit it instead of coming up with silly excuses trying to justify something that has no justification whatsoever. Beleive me people like it alot more when youre honest and come clean. Unless these guys can come up with a solid reason why being shirtless is somehow dangerous or detrimental to anybody's health or well being then they should really just lay off and let people enjoy themselves.

Most of the reasons ive heard here for people wearing shirts at parks are rather insulting. The way a person looks has nothing to do whatsoever with weither they should be allowed to come in shirtless are not. Unnatractive people as well those who are attractive should feel welcome to come into a park and enjoy themselves without harassment from self centered people who only see others on the outside. If you dont want to see the way people really look and see them for who they are then maybe you shouldnt come to a theme park and should stay sheltered in your home away from the world. Rules are made for practical reasons at parks not to please a few disgruntled guests who cant learn to be tolerant of those who are different than them.

Also the whole idea about hygeine is rather silly. Those seats on the rides get sweaty weither or not the person has a shirt on, especially on a hot day. They can be hosed down or sprayed every now and then to clean them. Beleive it or not people will not die from having their backs come in contact with a sweaty seat, face it youre gonna get dirty when you spend a day at a theme park, theres such a thing called a shower, make friends with it and use it when you go home and youll be fine.

The saftey issue is really non-existant too. Having a thin shirt or top on is not going to protect you much if you get hurt. Besides by choosing to take your shirt off you do so at your own risk knowing and accepting full well the consequences of your actions and if something happens as a result of you being shirtless then you only have yourself to blame. Most people would not sue a park for getting hurt if they were shirtless because most people have more common sense than that. Even if they did, theyd be laughed out of court by any decent judge. So really theme parks have nothing to worry about. They should just have signs saying that if you take your shirt/shoes off you do so at your own risk and if you get hurt as a result the park cant be held liable.

If you want a park to be a modest/family friendly atmosphere then you need to deal with people's behavior in public, not their mode of dress. Beleive me there are plenty of people both shirted and unshirted that act immature and obnoxious and do many things which are much worse than simply being without a top that should be dealt with. Weither or not a man/woman has a shirt on does not decide weither that person is modest or not and them being shirtless in and of itself does not ruin the family atmosphere. You want a friendly park, go after all the deviants who cause trouble and leave the innocent shirtless folk alone who just come to have a good time.

I beleive that people being denied service at a theme park just for being shirtless is discrimination and its insulting to the guests and should not be tolerated. A shirtless man has just as much a right to come in and enjoy himself as does a shirted man. These parks can cook up excuses till the cows come home but in the end it's just best to stop fussin and let people come in shirtless and then they'll get alot more happy customers that way. Sure you might have a few disgruntled customers but youll have them no matter what, theres always a few bad apples that cause trouble. Anyways thats how I feel, thought id just put my two cents in. Please comment.

It is funny to me how much I've grown up since my posts made on the first page of this thread...

Down is the new up.
Mike 131 what in the world posessed you to write that paper length post in a topic that has been dead for two years, especially with your first post?

Whatever the motivation, I must admit the post is quite awe inspiring. In more ways than one!
Thread necro!
Why would anybody *want* to walk around shirtless and subject themselves to all that sun damage. Do you want to be a weathered old piece of driftwood when your older?

Go to a sporting goods store and get yourself a nice thin synthetic "quick dry" shirt with UV protection. They are very thin and cool, sweat evaporates from them quickly, and they protect you from the sun.

I'm all for shirtless women in parks.
Look at the advantages:
No more gawker-blocks by the Stingray Slides.
No more girlfirends accusing you of staring at hot chicks behind their back.
And, (drumroll please) No more t-shirts that say: Stop staring at my T#$s!

How do I feel about being shirtless in parks?

If you got it. Flaunt it. Hell and even if you don't got it flaunt it. I'll just make fun of you ;)

While we're (back) on the subject, do any parks actually restrict you from riding shoeless on inverts? I haven't found any that have stopped me to date, which is a blessing as I tend to wear sandals to parks. Riding inverts shoeless is the only way to do it!

I wouldn't be suprised if Knott's required shoes on Silver Bullet. They require shoes on PPlunge in case of an evacuation.
I guess I could always hold my sandals against me under the OTSR. Damned if I'll walk around outside wearing shoes in 90 degree weather and constant exposure to water rides.

I say wear the tshirts. Besides after a good rain, you always got the enjoyment of a free wet tshirt contest. Women only please!
I think mike had a bad experience with a shirtless person...maybe that's why he brought this topic back from the dead. At least we know he can use the Search feature!!

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Montu and both Fire and Ice Dragon require you to keep your shoes, for what it's worth.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
In the days of Paragon Park in Hull, Ma.,the swimmers from the beach went directly to the coaster with just bathing suits on with no shoes ! It was pretty wet and sandy in those seats. I agree that shirt and shoes should be worn at all times while in the park.

You CAN "lose your shoes" on Montu, but only if they're *backless* shoes....otherwise, you're required to keep them on...

The one place where there's apparently NO dress code...Trimper's. Just wow! ;)

Mike131, the reason parks don't want patrons walking around shirtless is because it's not the infield at the Preakness [an extremely scary place] or a Nascar race :) Let's face facts--most of the guys who walk around shirtless are trying to show either a) that they've been to gym or b) that they can put back a few or more beers or c) that they've been to the tatoo parlor one too many times or d) that they haven't yet discovered sunscreen

The bigger problem with guys walking around shirtless these days is that a lot of them--particularly young people--haven't figured out that the loops on their shorts or pants are for a belt, so the shorts or pants are hanging half-way off of the waist exposing most of the boxer shorts. So then at that point, you might as well make the argument "Well, why do they even have to wear shorts or pants?"

Now, on to the part about sweating. A t-shirt was invented to absorb sweat. That's why the majority of them are made out of cotton. The common t-shirt will keep sweat off of the seats, unless you have a really sweaty back. You say, "Well, what about the gym?" That's why it's a rule at most gyms that you must carry a work-out towel (which I do) to wipe down the equipment after you work out.

I think shirtless people in an amusement park makes it look trashy and classless. I don't care how someone looks, cut abs or man-boobs, it's all the same. Shirtless people give the place a low class carnival atmosphere that is out of place in a family oriented theme park.

I someone can't stand to wear a shirt, they should be at the pool, not in the park. Actually, light reflective clothing will make you feel cooler than running around shirtless, absorbing the sun.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
