These new observations everyday are fascinating, but troubling since they don't answer the question about how sick they generally can make you. If it partially evades vaccination, that's only concerning if it potentially makes your very sick. If the opposite is true and previous variants subside, it's like we hit the lottery. The thing is, it's going to spread faster than any study, so the answers will come from infected people first.

This starts streaming on Hulu 12/5. I imagine it goes a lot deeper than the soundbites we heard from healthcare workers.

THAT (referring to Jeff's 9:37 post) is what I am wondering.

As of last night's news there were 10 known Omicron variant cases in the USA in 6 states, 9 of them among people vaccinated for COVID-19, 1 not...and 0 hospitalizations. Okay, so maybe it's hyper-contagious. But if it doesn't produce serious illness or kill people, then it has the potential to be a pandemic-ending variant. If its reproduction 'squeezes out' Delta and we have people coming down with this thing at an alarming rate...but few if any of them get terribly sick, then is it really a problem? It will gradually inoculate the population and burn itself out.

In other news relative to Gonch's link, I was kind of hoping that the COVID vaccine would be non-selective enough to help against some of those common cold strains. Sounds like it isn't.

I know this conversation has popped up from time to time, but that's another interesting piece of data on it.

It's something that has boggled my mind from the beginning. Why would one purposely take a stance that one knows is going to cause death within one's voter base?

What's even more curious about it, and I have neither the time or interest to create some kind of timeline, is that if my memory serves me correctly #45 was initially taking credit for "operation lightspeed", the whole point of which was to get a vaccine out asap. To me this infers nothing but staunch support for said vaccine, for which he would like to take credit for. I do understand that at the same time there was all sorts of asinine comments like "this will be over by Easter" and other things that made Fauci do this...
