I've been to SFMM about 10 times, and I live in the UK, so it's not like I'm defending my home park or anything. I always had a good time and never found any reason to complain. Sure, several times I visited they've had 1 train on, but the park was dead and KBF had 1 train on too.On the other hand, I have visited Cedar Point 5 times, and only on one occasion did the park even come close to living up to its reputation, in fact, two of those visits represent the worst visit to a theme park EVER.
Ok, so your experiences with the two parks differs from what seems to be the majority around here.
How does that translate to:
"...but I'm sure these threads are started deliberately to make SFMM look like the worst park in the world and Cedar Point look like the best."
Seriously? You really believe that there's a community of 13,000 registered members (according to the stats page) that have a singular mission to make SFMM look bad every chance possible and make CP out to be the best park ever? It's so absurd, I don't even know how to retort.
Is it so hard to believe that other people's honest opinions differ from yours?
Fun fact... 0.8% of the e-mail addresses registered on CoasterBuzz are also registered on PointBuzz. Ohio and Michigan accounts for 11% of the traffic on CoasterBuzz.
Grant said:
...it's hardly surprising since Coasterbuzz arose out of Guide to the Point/Pointbuzz - a site dedicated to Cedar Point.
So you think after five years on the Internet, no one else found CoasterBuzz except for SFMM-hating zombies? That's not much of a theory.

Anyway, let's not turn this into a personal attack on me thanks, just because my opions differ and I'm not afraid to say so.
But isn't that exactly what you're doing to everyone else?

Nobody made it any more personal than your comments of:
"Oh, another brainwash thread!
Actually, it hasn't turned out that bad, but I'm sure these threads are started deliberately to make SFMM look like the worst park in the world and Cedar Point look like the best."
No one attacked you because of your opinion. Heck, no one attacked you, period. :)
You still really don't see the hypocrisy of what you're saying?
We should respect your individual opinion, but you can take a generalized collective opinion, compare it to brainwashing and call it a delibrate attempt to hold one park down and boost another?
Wouldn't this whole thing be avoided if instead of being agressive and accusatory with your initial input, you simply said something like:
"Wow, my experience with both parks is totally different that what seems to be the norm around here.
I've been to SFMM about 10 times, and I live in the UK, so it's not like I'm defending my home park or anything. I always had a good time and never found any reason to complain. Sure, several times I visited they've had 1 train on, but the park was dead and KBF had 1 train on too.

Don't let an overwhelming negative opinion deter you from visiting a park that I've always enjoyed and had a good time at."
See the difference? It's fine to feel strongly about something and post heatedly about it, but when you come out shooting, don't get defensive and play the victim when someone shoots back.
Heck, I'd even go as far as to generally agree that my limited experience at SFMM isn't nearly as bad as some of the stories I hear, but I've only visited once. I don't discount the multitudes of negative reviews just because I didn't see it firsthand. I just can't buy the premeditated, mass hatred, jump on the bandwagon, conspriacy theory.

I think these threads are made to simply pit one member against another. This park is better then this park, blah, blah, blah. Steel Dragon is better then Millennium Force, blah, blah, blah. General Mills is better tasting the Kelloggs. Yakety-shmakety.
Funny how people talk about hypocrisy when just about everyone that gets involved in these arguments are the biggest hypocrites on this site.
Now, this is the part where someone quotes something from what was just typed and proves the statement wrong and then tries to get as many people on their side of the argument. More useless personal attacks and the abilty to not look at another person's point of view. Then someone will tell me that I'm just as much as a hypocrite for typing this and getting involved with the argument. Then someone will say that if I know that I'm a hypocrite, the blah, blah, blah..................
IDEA: SHUT UP ALREADY.
Acourse if anyone replys to this post in a negative manner, will just prove what I just typed. then someone will take that last sentence I just typed and say I'm using it just to try and win the argument.

Point... who cares?! I just wanted to type a lot, I don't have a point. It just seemed fun to type a bunch of usless junk in a single post.

As a result that will be one less person posting on here with anything positive to say about SFMM.
I wasn't even aware that was a word, but if you intend to keep telling people to shutup, you won't be posting here much longer. The hammer has been stowed away for some time now. Don't make me bust it out.

That said, an all-around pleasant experience is more likely to be had at CP if you're wanting a lot of friendly employees and generally better service. SFMM is fine if you're just looking to plow through a load of coasters. It should be noted that SFMM is my home park so there's a bit of bias. Here's the way I see it:
CP Plusses:
-MF
-Magnum
-Raptor
-TTD
-Flat rides
-Most employees
-Generally better all-around experience
CP Minuses:
-Loads of smokers (even in line). Japan was the only other time I've seen that many smokers in line. This can kill my overall perception of the park as I've got asthma and the smoke really bothers me.
-Hot and humid. Potential for storms during the Summer (particularly later in the Summer months).
SFMM Plusses:
-X
-Deja Vu
-Scream!
-Riddlers Revenge
SFMM Minuses:
-Customer service
-Employees (they really just don't seem to care at all)
-Hot and dry
-Potential gang activity in the park or parking lot (I've never had a problem but it's happened a few times)
-Rowdy kids that have no problem cutting through the line if it suits them.
You definitely hit SFMM on good days. When SFMM gets crowded, you're lucky to find any line under 1 hour, with X, Deja Vu, Goliath, Batman, and Riddler easily approaching the 2 hour mark (especially with one train ops).
CP has major crowds, especially on the weekends. No matter what, you're going to have a line of more than 30 minutes for rides like MF and TTD. Closer to the 2 hour mark you talk about going on busy weekends. However, having worked there for 2 summers, I will tell you days when most of the lines are over the 1 hour mark are rare.
In fact, there's very few queues that can even hold that kind of crowd anymore. MF, TTD, and Mean Streak are about it. Raptor's when completely full holds only about an hour line, same with Magnum.
If you want hit CP at a good time, try hitting it on a Sunday in early season in the future. Oh, and avoid SFMM in the summer and early fall.
As far as the new ride being broken down when you visit. You lucked out again. I visited SFMM 3 times within the first year that X and Deja Vu opened. I never got on X that first year due to downtime, and only managed Deja Vu on one of those trips.
So based on your visits, I completely understand your opinion and probably would come to the same one if I had your experience with visits to these parks.

Nice to see nothing has changed on your end. :) Have any more stock market wisdom for us?

Well, that sucks. I don't think anybody's intentions were to run you off.
As for which park I'd choose to visit? I wouldn't solicit that advice from anyone. Do what seems like the best choice for you. It's a 50/50, you're going to pick one and like it or hate it. As you can see in this thread, people have had great times at SFMM and people have had horrible times. Same applies to CP. To many variables in parks and life in general to give someone the 'right' answer.
I'm of the mindset that if you're the type just looking for coasters, it's a toss-up. Both parks are very comparable in terms of coaster line-up. Once you go beyond that, CP slowly eeks away further and further from SFMM with every category added...waterpark, lodging, additional attractions, flat rides, clientele, feeling of 'escape', the beach, location, staff, that giant friggin' hill in the middle of SFMM - the list goes on.
I was leaning toward CP since it would be closer. Then try to get to SFMM when I was older.
But... again thanks for all the replys!
i'm not sure what to put here..
Ha many people read all of us coasterbuzzers forums every day if we keep trashing Magic Mountain, then no one is going to go there anymore, and the lines will be shorter, cool!(lol)
-Eric: Major Parks: SFNE(homepark), SFA,SFGADV,CP,BGE,BGA,Kennywood, and Sea World: Track record 65 different coasters ridden #1 is Millennium Force #2 is El Toro and than there are all the others
I am glad that you defended MM and gave input about the parks operations progressing. I didn't know, because I haven't been paying much attention to MM lately. Thank you for the info...
I disagree about the brainwashing comment though. A multitude of differing opinions can not actuially "brainwash" someone, rather it may sway an opinion. Brainwashing and mind control is much more complicated and takes a lot more time and work...
CP is not even in my top 5 favorite parks, and I spent 2 season of employment there. PKI forever, baby!
Cyber Demon, Take a chill pill. It is all going to be okay. Here's a smiley to proove it :)
Corkscrewy, try to stay on point when choosing a hotel if you can afford it. Nothing beats walking to the park in the morning and walking to your room in the evening. Stay a few days and take your time. Don't have high expatations for CCMR, ID, or MS, and you might find them fun.
I swear I opened this thread yesterday without reading the date, and assumed it was booted up from 5 or 6 years ago. Pretty funny stuff.
I guess time flies even if you're not having fun.
