SFMM or CP

This summer I have the opportunity to got to either SFMM or CP. Now i'm sure a lot of you guys have been to these parks and I was wondering what the better one is and why.

Man there's been alot of these type of posts lately!

Thanks again.

Yeah I would probably never go on a flat ride when i'm at an amusement park.. I would spend all my time on coasters, since I live in great ol' North Dakota!

If it's only about the coasters for you, I think they are even, especially when you go category by category. So, do you prefer a cooler, breezy and overcast environment, or a hot and dry environment?
If you are only going for the coasters, just decide which group you like the best.
Yeah I was thinking about that. The coasters are pretty simaler. Main differences, Raptor:Inverted, SCREAM!:Floorless. And then X. Thats a category all in its own.

I just want to know what you guys would prefer for the overall experince.

Thank you,

I believe that overall if you could spend some time at the hotel breakers or lighthouse point or something that you would have an awesome time a cedar point. But saying this, this is too close to call for me, as i just got back from sfmm two weeks ago and loved it.
I've been to both and I'd choose Cedar Point hands down over Magic Mountain... I just felt the overall atmosphere of Cedar Point was more enjoyable.

However, if you've never been to California, it's worth the trip, really nice experience, especially considering I'd really only been up and down the East Coast before I went to CA. Knotts is fantastic and the Disney parks are great too.

But if you're going ONLY for SFMM or CP, I'd say go to the Point. *** Edited 2/3/2005 12:20:22 AM UTC by Coaster Lover***

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

If you don't mind sub-par food and service, virtually non-existent flats, and basically an all-round unsatisfactory park experience IMO, go SFMM. If you care about the park experience, go to CP. They both have some possible day trips as well. (CP - GL) (SFMM - KBF)

You'll probably enjoy it either way.

If I had to choose I'd go to SFMM because I have already been to CP numerous times, and really want to ride "X". To me "X" is worth the trip alone.

If it is your 1st visit to either park CP is the one to visit hands down.

Havent been to SFMM, but I have to add my thoughts on CP:

1. It contains 3 roller coasters in my top 5 (#2 Magnum, #4 MF, #5 Raptor,) the collection is amazing and most of the time has all coasters up and running (with the exception of 2003).

2. Generally speaking of the parks I have been to, I enjoy CF parks more the SF parks.

3. Hotel Breakers allows you walk to the park every morning, you feel cut off from the world (I have only gotten that feeling from parks @ CP, WDW, and Williamsburg) and have a great time.

2022 Trips: WDW, Sea World San Diego & Orlando, CP, KI, BGW, Bay Beach, Canobie Lake, Universal Orlando

I've taken many of these things into consideration like the rides each one. And the lodgeing. I have not been to any of these parks.

I've never been ot SFMM, but you can't go wrong at CP. Four of my top ten steel coasters are there: TTD, Magnum, MF, and Raptor. I would challenge anyone to find a fourth coaster at any park as good as any of those. They do have flats. Maybe not all the latest ones, but they are getting maXair next year. That will be a real treat.
I think that other than Millennium Force, that X, Goliath, Riddler's and Scream were better than all of the others you listed. It depends on who you are though ;)

I would rather ride Ghostrider, Xcelerator, Montezooma, and Silver Bullet than those four at CP.

And on that note, why choose between CP and SFMM? Why not CP and any other Los Angeles-area park? Knotts is *way* better than SFMM as are the Disney parks.

YMMV, of course.

O really don't care on the coaster. I don't get much coaster action up here so.... i'll take anything!!

A shuttle looper? Ha ha! Different strokes I guess.
Well.... almost anything. lol

Oh, I was talking to Moosh. He said he preferred a shuttle looper to Maggie, MF, Raptor, TTD. I hope is is okay and did not bump his head too hard. JK moosh.
I would go to whichever one was closer in time-zone terms. Crossing three time zones sucks, and I do it twice a month.

-brian, just a little bitter about all the travel lately.

Oh. See I thought you were talking to me about my lack of coasters. And that I'd even take a shuttle looper.
