Well I heard about the possibilty of an immelman(which sounds insane), as well as a couple of "near collisions" with another ride. I also think it will be quite large, which makes me wonder how B&M will engineer the forces on this ride.
The immelman/dive loop does sound insane! As far as the forces go, I think B&M's got it figured out now. They were obviously very conservative with AIR and Superman, but now I think they understand the full potential of the coaster style and exactly what they can do with it.
IMO they flyers can comfortably handle a lot more force and intensity than we've seen. Obviously on your back you can handle some intense G's as shown by the Pretzel Loop, which is one of the best and most intense elements ever. (in the back) But I think they were pretty conservative when on your stomach. IMO with some *very* minor tweeks to the restraint vest, you could handle a lot more force. I'm not talking 5 G's, but maybe 100% more than they do now. This will allow the dive loop/immelman.
Now combine this freedom of forces with the creativity and fluid transitions of AIR and you have yourself a coaster! You can have a pretzel loop, an immelman/dive loop and zero g/half zero g rolls all connected by swooping curves on your back/stomach across the terrain.
Hopefully B&M/SF designed this thing to fully exploit the potential.

Del Holland? Who the hell is that? I could have sworn the park was run by 16 year olds since that's all I seem to see running the park.
Del Holland - Manager of SFMM
Tim Burkhart - Dir. of Operations of SFMM
Never been to Magic Mountain, but with what I hear it seems like both needs to be oust. I would give Burkhart an exception that corp didn't give the park funds to fix the rides they have. Yet it seems that all the funds are going to a new coaster.
You've stolen Cedar Point's slogan! Didn't you know that Cedar Point is the one all, end all park?
I still maintain that putting up a coaster, albeit a neat sounding one, won't fix the problems I found with the park. The park has a ton of potential to blow out any park out there, if they use that potential they could make a crap load of money!

Amen. And Amen to Gonch and his "I'm a park enthusiast, and like to be treated well at a park" as well.
Funny, Somone says something negative about a park hoping they'll see it and turn it into a positive, and the Fanboys are all "You shouldn't say anything negative, you should just accept it, because we've heard it 10,000 times". Funny, I also recall hearing "Don't bash the park, they can treat us any way they want and I'm sick of you bashing" 10,000 times as well. And people wonder why the park doesn't improve? Because far too many people seem to love being treated like poo.

... the bashing got OLD YEARS ago.
No, the bashing will "get old" once the problems are fixed. And I don't see that happening soon.
In the past few years, my enthusiasm has definitely changed. I used to go to parks to ride the coasters. Now, I go because I enjoy everything about parks- flat rides, dark rides, water rides, classic rides, atmosphere... the list goes on and on. While I love roller coasters, they are really just a small part of the entire experience.
It's great that SFMM is getting a new coaster. It really is. A new B&M? A flyer? A custom layout? I'm excited, even though I can't begin to imagine myself going back to the park because, truth be known, it IS one of the absolute worst amusement parks in the country. But there is a lot to be done at SFMM before it can even begin living up to its potential and until those things are done, people have every right to complain about what is wrong at the park.
And I personally LIKE the colors so I think it's going to be a fantastic ride! ;)

I was basically thanking everyone for a nice time, and Knott's for a great event. Knott's actually replied. As for SFMM? I thanked them for their event, but then explained in a very polite way how I think they could improve the park.
Now on to the flip side, How many of those that go "You guys shouldn't worry and complain, the park is great" go to Guest Services to tell them what they're doing right with the park? It goes both ways. I can't tell you how many times I've been to PCar's Guest Services to compliment the park, even apologizing for spewing green slushy on Vortex (and Andy ;)).
Do you go and tell them how good a job they're doing?
I've been going to Magic Mountain since 78, and I can tell you the park is not getting better, and attendance seems to have steadily declined. I love the park, and the coaster lineup is amazing. It is simply amazing that despite the obvious, Six Flags seems entrenched in their same old habits, especially with SFMM.
Despite all that I am looking forward to their new coaster. For it to stand out in the backdrop of 15 other impressive coasters, it will need to be something special. An ordinary addition just seems too ridiculous for the park at this stage of the game. *** Edited 9/8/2005 4:03:44 PM UTC by rc-madness***
Dweaver(haven't seen the layout, just heard second hand info).
I heard a keynote speech from someone regarding customer service. I dont recall who it was but he was talking about his Audi and how much he loved it, that he wouldn't change a thing about it. When it came time for a new car, he chose an Audi and found that they made a number of small improvements to the interior. None of which needed to be made by his account, but they improved his driving experience none the less.
Thats how park customer service needs to be. They should see the problem, and fix it.
At Holiday World for instance, they see trash, they pick it up and throw it out. They don't wait for someone to come tell them there is trash.
At BGW the line for their new attraction was extremely long. They noticed this and handed out water to keep their customers hydrated.
Thats what customer service is. It is not staffing a booth full of people and handing them front of the line passes when they have a complaint. Its documenting the complaint and addressing it. Most of Six Flags Inc. isn't doing that.
*edit, speaking mostly about SFMM, SFGadv, SFA, SFDL etc. *** Edited 9/8/2005 5:20:46 PM UTC by eightdotthree***

I think the ride looks ugly without a white stripe on the spine. What were the thinking leaving that off?
Ha! Nice. :)

So, what I want to know is this. How many of you who are complaining about this and that concerning SFMM, actually talk to guest relations and voice your opinions? Or, do you expect them to come here and ready about it?
I do contact parks when I have an overwhelmingly positive or negative experience but SFMM shouldn't need people to do that. If they bother to look at their plunging attendance and the fact that their parent company is at the center of a takeover, they would already know that a new coaster is not going to solve their woes. Unless, of course, this coaster does something that Superman: The Escape, Riddler's Revenge, Goliath, X, Deja Vu or Scream! failed to do...
