I've been saying it for a little while now, I've discovered over the past few years that I'm more of a park enthusiast than a coaster enthusiast.
For me, coasters are just one small part of the equation that equals a good day at the park.

Those of us who have been to parks that are actually fun can't be bothered with getting excited about SFMM. :)

And Peabody, SFMM did improve somewhat over the past three years without a new ride attraction, but because the damage done from many long years of poor infrastructure funding is going to take years to fix.
I never said they didn't improve anything. But myself, and others here do not always say what we say because we hate the park and want it to fail. I said what I said because I like the park and want it to be the great park I know it could be! *** Edited 9/8/2005 3:28:15 AM UTC by Peabody***

That *is* the purpose of the discussion here....or didn't everyone GET that memo? :)
Don't know how more clear that sentence can be that Peabody made.
I liked the park. I liked the coaster collection. I liked the fact that I was there in February as opposed to a hot summer day with alot of people(I can't imagine the nightmare that would be).
However, when you see countless rides closed with no promise of them opening anytime soon, a season pass for the low price of $47.99 (when I am used to paying about $85.00 in Chicago), and attendance declines that are rather dismal, you have to wonder what the hell is going on and another shiny piece of steel isn't going to remedy that.
My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.
Oh, this isn't the Patriot thread? My bad. ;)

Just as the previous shiney pieces of steel didn't remedy what's wrong with the park. Just as adding a funnel slide to the waterpark didn't remedy what's wrong with the park. Just as having a new Batman show didn't remedy what's wrong with the park.
The solution is simple: get rid of Del Holland and bring in someone who can turn the park around. People need to visit the park and not feel as if they wallet is being gouged; that they don't have to wait in long lines due to decreased capacity; that they're not walking past closed ride after closed ride because the park has no maintenance budget to keep them running.
People need to think they are getting VALUE for what they spend and lowering the gate yet keeping the same sh!tty experience isn't the way to do it.

Well said.
I liked SFMM when I went. Really, I did. I'm even one of the lucky ones who's ridden Flashback (or is that UNlucky? ;) ). But throwing coasters into the park is NOT helping the other problems the park has. Yes, it's been three years since the last coaster (and more since my visit), but how improved is the park? Honestly?
Are all the existing coasters up and running? The flats too? Are the lines moving quickly? Is the park clean?
If you can answer "yes" to all of the above, then dropping a new coaster in makes sense. If not, the park still needs to put their money elsewhere, because stretching themselves even thinner isn't going to help any.

I agree with the rest of your post Moosh.
Still, taking the park out of the equation for a minute, I have to admit I'm curious as to what B&M have come up with for this flyer(I have heard some really cool things). Are we experiencing a B&M resurgence?
However...
That doesn't mean the park should overlook the poor customer service I received from the moment I stepped foot into the park until I stepped foot into the rental car to leave. It doesn't mean the park should overlook the other attractions (or lack thereof) in favor of another coaster. It also doesn't mean the park should overlook the fact that I had to spend two whole days at the park in order to ride almost everything, which I should mention I visited in March. Having to attend the park praying for rides to be actually OPEN is something that I don't find fun in going to parks. Yet, the reason I had fun were the friends that I came with.
If Cedar Point were to have any sort of coaster track show up on site this year I would probably react the same way other CBuzzers are right now. Cedar Point is becoming a park where sometimes I have to pray for a few select rides to be operating and I'm a PASS HOLDER! There is a certain 420 foot tall attraction that needs work before we should see another coaster on that peninsula, along with a few improvments in other departments.
What I'm saying is, while griping about SFMM getting a new coaster may seem old, other things such as crappy customer service, a lack of other things to do, line jumping, and most of the other common stuff I read in SFMM's trip reports and experienced firsthand are getting just as old. Why doesn't SFMM try something different to get those behinds through the turnstiles?
Its funny, the park that I love the most only has THREE coasters. I wonder why that is? I'm certainly not the only one around here that feels that way, since this certain park in Santa Claus, Indiana seems to be adding attractions (not just coasters) to disperse the gobs and gobs of people who are running through the turnstiles!
And I'll give credit where its due, because part of it IS the waterpark!
