SFKK question

I read somewhere too that the waterpark has a whole new fresh paint job....a much needed paint job.

It appears the park is making a lot more changes this year. They made many changes last year, but from what I understand the number of changes made this year will be doubled. I hope people can put the History of the park behind them and come see what it has become!
Oh the thought of Chang and B:TR track intertwining. :)

LOL, just to be clear, there's *no way* that the B:TR in question is going to the park in question. Not.Happening.

SFKK went thru alot of improvements in the years I visited ('00-'03). Haven't been back since, but everything I've heard from people I trust tells me the park is on the right track, that the GM in place *is* the guy to lead the park, and that the future looks bright.

But a B&M invert going to a smallish park that has an SLC? Insanity!

We had a grand ol' time on Memorial Day this past season. Everything was well-run and they were operating multiple trains on T2 and Chang.

The park shines, theres no doubt about that.

T2 is just junk. It would really be nice to see Batman replace it, though.

In the past few seasons, the park has done a sort-of "housecleaning". Quake, Vampire and Chaos are gone. The Dragsters are getting the boot, and the waterpark has grown a little bit.

It would be nice to see what happens with that area, I would also like to see a second train for Thunder Run

I think we've had this discussion, but a second train on TR would involve completely installing a tranfer track. Its possible.....but not terribly probable...at least not for a few years. Not a bad idea, though.

^ Yeah, theres no way to add a second train without installing a transfer first
I had a few years ago that there was talk of putting a transfer track right above the shooting gallery/photo building. Just back of the block brakes.

timmyk

I'm fairly certain those were just rumors. As far as I know, there have not been any plans of installing a transfer track, though the slow throughput that results from the lack of a second train is looked at quite frequently.

The groundwork for a transfer track on that ride WAS in place....footers are likely still in the ground, but SFKK had some above-ground construction, and even a signiificant portion of framing, DONE. Thunder Run was closer to getting a second train than not (this was about 5-6 years ago).

Not sure why (actually, one of the dumbest decisions the old mgt. made), but they PAID to remove *existing* structure that was all but set for a second train on Thunder Run (which, before GL went in, was the only coaster I really LIKED at the park). Ah, well....

What no love for the skater...Gator? ;)

Smaller parks need better rides. Otherwise, there will be less, and less people at that park. The bigger parks could still have some bad rides like an SLC (in my opinion), and get away with it. I'm going the opposite way with what your saying.

Put an SLC at Magic Mountain, and put a BTR at SFKK. You would see how much benefit that would help SFKK. Magic Mountain might be getting a piece of junk, but Magic Mountain has so much more that it really doesn't matter.

LOL thrillerman1, I love rollerskaters as much as anyone over the age of 8....but I understand how it's not really an "adult" ride...stupid labels! ;)

I just find it near-impossible to believe they could take the same basic layout, hang the trains UNDER the track, and end up with total junk. Kinda like how coal and diamonds are basically the same matieral I suppose... :)

Maybe removing the SLC and replacing it with more waterpark is the way to go? Chang and the Ferris Wheel on a dead-end midway, and throw a flat down there, and then tie it off at Blizzard River? Just a thought. Don't want to decrease your coaster count? Throw up a Gerstlauer EuroFighter (all the kids are doin' it!).

A park like that would get more benefit out of a bigger waterpark than an SLC. Just my two cents.

Where KI and HW have brought in new and exciting new coasters to WOW the public, SFKK has just added a coaster that was at another SF park.(which is a pretty good coaster)Really since Twisted Twins or maybe as far back as Chang, there hasn't been that coaster that make people say, "Man I need to goto SFKK and ride that coaster."

^ and don't forget that little park to the south of SFKK that added that ever so buttery smooth and delicious woodie this past year. It's time for SFKK to step up to the plate next.

What happened to the old Batman show behind T2?
I think it lastest one maybe 2 seasons. I not sure but I think they have OVW Wrestling on certain dates throughout the year in that ampitheater and maybe some rock concerts. But that I'm not sure of.

Okay, thanks. I really wish the Gotham City Plans had gone through, though.
I live down the street from SFKK and the changes I have notices have been

the top of hellevator being blue ( also the SFKK myspace is now done in superman, even though its a fan site i think)

A pirate ship kiddie water park

and the 4 waterslides have all been replaced with the exact same layout

the local news has stated that they plan for the 07' season to completely renovate the water park making it 15% larger. they will repaint, add little grotto areas that familys can rent out for the day, add a new kiddie park, and add a brand new water thrill ride that has never been in a SixFlags US theme park before

*sidenotes

the dragsters have been closed and the area between them and TwistedTwins has been blocked off all season

THey did stop the batman stunt show over a year ago. Now they have Ohio Valley Wrestling in the theater around once a month and any other specials shows they can get in. In 06' they had a MATT HOFFMAN pro BMX show, an aly and aj concert (which got rained out )ect..

the park has been making a lot of improvements

I wouldnt be too suprised if they took out Rainbow . Last year I was at the park every other week and I never did see it operating
