SFKK posts hint for 2005...

Just my opinion, but really waterparks should focus more on *hi capacity* attractions, then fill in later with the funnels and such. Family raft rides are really good at moving large numbers of people in comparison to the funnels and the "Blaster" rides...

Is a harbor really better than a bay? Both suck during a hurricane.
As much as I like the Proslide Tornados, I am rooting for something else to go to SFKK. I already will ride Tornado's at GL, MIA, HW, and PKI next year. I am not sure how much they could market it anyway given that HW and PKI both have one and marketed them alot the last couple years.
Painting Chang and T2 would probably blow people away. LOL.
I cant believe no one has said any remarks about SFKK and the word blow being in the same statement. As for me, I enjoy the park.

I'd say a Proslide Tornado. Why? Because tornado's "blw you away," and at both SFFT and SFOT, as well as any other SF waterpark with one, they are all named Tornado. I wouldn't exatly consider that a big announcement as they are rapidly becoming a dime a dozen these days.

Dime a dozen to those like us who follow what other parks are announcing ;)

I'd be willing to bet you that even tho there are Proslide funnels at Splashin' Safari and PKI's waterpark that people in Louisville don't know about 'em and will think theirs is unique.

Besides, almost every park has a tilt-a-whirl or wave swinger or log flume and no one complains about so many of those around. Seems like a non-issue to me.

Yeah, I agree that just the ProSlide Tornado doesn't exactly scream BIG announcement to me. I mean, I still think the ProSlide Tornado will most likely be an addition, but it seems like there should be something else in store for 05 as well if it's considered BIG.

SFKK will have a lot of competition next year with HW doubling the size of their waterpark as well as PKI adding Italian Job. Hopefully, it will be something more or less major.

A new waterslide of two may not be a big announcement in our eyes but thats how Marketing and Promotion departments do. What do you expect the park to say? "We're only adding one new slide this year that a bunch of other waterparks have but we want you to come anyway"??

Whatever they add, they're going to make it seem like the best, coolest, biggest, most exciting thing since sliced bread. That is what marketing and promotion departments DO! And to many people, a Proslide Tornado *WILL* be something that is big, exciting and cool that they have never seen before...because they haven't been to HW or PKI ;)

^I'm not one of those people who thinks they should add massive roller coasters every single year. Nor would I expect that at SFKK given their space limitations and for other reasons. I was stating my opinion on the announcement, but yeah you could be right about them just playing up the announcement for marketing/promotion reasons.

I wasn't singling out any one person...sorry it looked that way.

I don't recall asking for a coaster. Forgive us for not wanting a proslide tornado.

While I'm at it, I'd like to ask a question. Are those of us who've ridden 100 or less coasters allowed to have opinions here? Everyone from regulars to site admins who may be more fortunate than others by having ridden hundreds of coasters and having visited 30 or more parks jump all over people who have pride in some of their hometown parks. Also, if our opinions do not reflect good business decisions we should not have that opinion. Heaven forbid we want more coasters. We should want what makes more money. Lastly, quit reading so far into our posts. We weren't whining and griping about how parks don't build new coasters every year like they used to. Leave us alone. We never did anything wrong by wanting something different.

sirloin - I'm sorry you took offense to my post, I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone. I do think perhaps you read too much into my post as well, so I'll go back and re-edit so it contains only my main point, which IS directly responding to ScreamMachine's post.

Sorry to piss you off! ;)

Have you ever been on a ProSlide Tornado? They're actually quite fun and a rather impressive to look at. Besides, it seems we are coming to conclusions about what they are getting far too early...I mean, the only "true" hint we have is that the attraction will "BLOW you away." I mean, maybe I missed it, but I never heard in any publication that ProSlide had sold a slide(s) to SFKK, never heard about a planning board approving anything, never heard in any conference calls that slides were being added...just rumors floating around the net. Wait until the ride is at least announced before you criticise it.

Who knows, they could be getting a big wind tunnel, or new hand dryers for the bathrooms, or fans in all the lines...all could technically be described as attractions that would "BLOW you away."

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

I am flabbergasted that Mamoosh had to edit his post. He's one of the nicest guys on any coaster board. But I guess people just wear their heart on their sleeve. Oh well.

I'll be honest, ANYTHING would be an improvement to SFKK. The park, IMO really has failed to improve the overall experience. Obviously they must use the hand corporate deals them, but overall esthetics and feel at the park is depressing. There's little to no pride and the general feeling of locals here in Louisville is that they'd rather go to HW or PKI. SFKK has developed into an afternoon/summertime babysitter for teens, nothing more.

I have been a Six Flags season passholder for about 6 years now. This past season I used my pass only twice. Once at SFKK and once at SFMM. I seriously doubt I will renew this season. My days of attending the SF parks and "hoping" to see improvement (only to have those hopes dashed) are over.

Nice, yeah...but what about hot? ;)

I dunno Shaggy, I've had both kinds of experiences at SFKK....but the excuse of "the hand corporate deals them" has worn kinda thin with me (much like the weather, LOL).

Seems like the really WELL-RUN parks in the chain, like SFFT, seem to do QUITE well with *the cards they're dealt*, while other parks use that as a shameful crutch to try and explain away poor performance....

Just my opinion, mind you, but I've been to PLENTY of SF parks in the past 5 years, and the WIDELY-varying customer service, IMO, comes more from the GMs at the various parks....it's not some *corporate conspiracy* to throw feces on their "guests"....reagrdless of WHAT those guys at ARN&R would have you believe....;)

edit: Mooshie.....you ARE hot, too...;)

Nah, everything's cool Moosh. I'm not pissed off. No need to apologize. Unlike Sirloindude, I don't think a ProSlide Tornado is a bad addition at all.
My experiences at SFKK have really been no different from my experiences at other SF parks. I've visited 8 SF parks (6 within the last 2 years) and didn't notice that big a difference between how I was treated at SFKK versus the other 7 parks. Maybe I've just happened to hit it on good days, but I don't see why SFKK continues to get singled out for bad customer service. Bring on the Proslide if it makes the coaster lines shorter. *** Edited 11/16/2004 12:15:03 AM UTC by thrillerman1***

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
As a SFKK emp., I can tell you we will be getting a new look for 2005, and yes, It is a BIG anouncement!!! The problem with you "coaster people" is you pick at stuff that no one lower than Full-Time people can change. Everyone on here is saying how bad our guest service is, how about SAFTEY, we are the safest SF park around, it's been proven. You always jump on here after a trip to report what we did wrong, what you saw other guests doing, "the Bridge form Hell" That's a state roan underneith it so if you have a problem with it, take it up with the satae of Kentucky! *** Edited 11/16/2004 1:21:47 AM UTC by Fatguy619*** *** Edited 11/16/2004 1:23:36 AM UTC by Fatguy619***
