SFGAm riddle

while I like the look of the first drop and loop of Shockwave as much as anyone, you guys have to realize that looks don't bring in money. no one's riding SW so its pointless to have it. if they can find some way to up ridership, then fine. but it seems as if SFGA has decided to kick SW out.

No other Superman coaster has red track with yellow rails right?

Superman, the ride of steel at Warner Brothers Movie World in Madrid has the same track color....

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but the ties on Superman at WBMW in Madrid are yellow just like the rails, but the ties on Superman:UF are red, just like the spine. A subtle difference, but enough to make a distinction.

First off, congrats to myself on my second season pass sale! I'm getting closer to that 10,000 mark, John! :)

Secondly, wow. 180 responses to a track sighting! Coasterbuzz never ceases to amaze lol.

And Godsey, it's about damn time you put away your floorless theory and said it was a flyer. How much more obvious could it get! lmao.

If he can make Shockwave show up in Houston, Legendary can take credit for my pass as well.

So do we know for sure that the flyer will replace Shockwave? That's alot of construction if they expect to open the ride by opening day 2003. Oh wait, this is Six Flags we're talking about, they open rides when they darn well choose. ;)

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

All we have is speculation. Rumors. We know it's Red and Yellow B&M track. That's about all. Just because it's colored the same as other clones does not mean it's going to be a clone.

It's a B&M and that's all my husband cares about. He loves the B&M coasters (Raptor, Raging Bull) enough that SF passes for the family are a given for the 2003 season.

A perfect way to up ridership on Shockwave would be to build a new attraction right by it. This way it draws people into that area. When Deja Vu was closed last year (and parts of this year) Demon was always empty. Now when Deja Vu is open it brings more people around there giving Demon more people. Right now the only thing near Shockwave is Condor and Rue le Dodge.

Taking down Shockwave and putting a new attraction there won't help that area out much because it will still lack rides, however adding a new attraction and keeping Shockwave will make that side of the part worth going to again.

CPLady, don't even get me started on 294 I have even had worse luck with it then the skyway. I have went every possible way. No way is a good way to get through Chicago. It's not really the Skyway that is the problem, it's going thorugh town which you do whether you are on the Skyway or 294.

I suppose I could loop around on 80 but thats way out of the way unless I wanna go to Naperville.

MagnumForce;

CPLady is mostly correct. If you can get to O'Hare before 3:00 or so, 294 is the way to go. You literally go around the city, which makes for a lot less traffic, and a much shorter ride. However, if you get caught in ruch "hour," it's bumper-to-bumper from O'Hare until 94 goes back down to two lanes (somewhere in mid-Lake County). So use the Tri-State, but be careful. Oh, yeah. The Tri-State's a tollyway too, but considering how much longer it is than the Skyway, I think it's cheaper per mile. I'm not sure whether it's cheaper in terms of how much you actually pay.

But here is *my* question, what type of fool goes to an amusement park near *rush hour* anyway? If you are going to SFGAm open to close (as many of you seem fond of doing) you'll miss the major "rush hours" anyway. I just couldnt imagine taking the tri-state to SFGAm. I "always" took LSD to I-94. Never made sense to go any other way.

Skyway is 2 bucks across I think. 294, or 90/94 It's all bad. There is really no good way to get around Chicago. The tolls don't bother me anyway as I take the Indiana Toll Road to get there. I have been everyway possible around or through the city. The worst traffic jam I have ever been in was 294. Ugh.

Too much city for a country boy.

Jeremy, Last time we went to GAM it was 2 o'clock on a Sunday. The Ryan was stop and go the whole way.

Actually the fastest I have ever gotten through town is Lakeshore Drive. But I never trusted that that would always be the case so we don't take it.

By the way, you hit rush hour if you go in the morning for opening. If ya get to the park at 9 you better hit Union Station by 7.

I thought it was LSD-25....but then again, I just returned from CA, so my accounting of hallucinogens may be off....;)

Traffic backups are something that us Chicago area folks have grown used to. In the last 10 years the suburbs further away from the city have built up in population so the highways even out a good 30-40 miles away from the city get heavy traffic.
After all, we are the 3rd largest metropolis so anyone that comes into northeastern Illinois better be prepared to "stop" so to speak. :)

Ric Flair was hitting on the female host, he told her - "Space Mountain may be the oldest ride in the park, but it has the longest line." WOOOOO!

From everything I am hearing, its a flyer not a floorless, but I think replacing Shockwave with a 120 foot coaster is a bad idea. Shockwave is a visual landmark that can be seen far away. Placing something much shorter in its place takes away from the parks visual picture. But, SF never listens to me or anyone else, so it doesnt matter.

They aren't replacing shockwave no evidence leads this all physical evidence of shockwaves removal only leads to just that, its removal no evidence shows the flyer is going in shockwaves lot.
