Even if you look at this in a business standpoint it doesnt make sense to announce tomorrow. The coverage on TV will be all about the memorial service and no one will care about the small blurb that might make the news at the very end like "PS...Great America is getting a new coaster." At first I did not realize that the memorial service was today and went and posted over on RRC that it was nuts and couldnt believe it. THEN, I found out the memorial service was today and posted again saying that I didnt mean what I said cause when i originally posted I didnt know of the service. (but it was still stupid to make a rant post and I apologize) YET, I still got flamed for saying stuff. This topic in this site is just plain unbelieveable, and the way that this Hollister guy is posting makes me think that he is just looking to start trouble and gets off on people argueing with him. So I think we all should just stop the contributions right now and maybe close this topic. Its getting out of line.
As for spelling...the people that USUALLY reak havoc on this site dont even attempt to try at proper grammar. You USUALLY dont see an intelligent person type like this.
..and thats my opinion, if you dont like it...well, fine i dont care.
Its not like they wont announce it soon anyway, and LOL its not like everyone knows what it is :)

BTW, Viper @ SFGAm is on of my Fav. Woodies, I think it's what really started my love affair w/wood. And as for your mistake, it's understandable, but the fact that you acknowledged your being mistaken shows signs of intelligent life;).

Now that our "Nutty Buddy" is back, I guess I'll have to change this...

p.s. Contrary to popular belief I am not an idiot nor I am I a child.
The nation is grieving, SFGAm is not announcing, deal with it.
I agree with those who said that they are doing the right thing and that if they did continue to have the event today they would be shooting themselves in the foot because no media person in their right mind would be at SFGAm for the event over going to the memorial service.
Saturday was the saddest day since 9/11 in the US.
Frankly I am disgusted by your lack of sympathy for the families whose lives are changed forever because of this tragedy. Please respect them.

This is a national tragedy, and there's nothing stupid about it. The little microchasm of your world means exactly nothing in the context of the bigger picture right now.
And folks, the delay has nothing to do with respect for anything. If they announced the ride on the same day as the memorial, they'd get zero words of coverage in the press, which makes not an effective announcement.

A few people got it right (coasterrod, CoasterFreakMan, SFGAm Viper) in that it would be an extremely unwise move to announce the coaster tomorrow given the fact that's when the memorial is being held. Not many people would hear about the brand new *multi-million* dollar investment the park is putting in, and well, that's not what you want for an announcement (duh).
And for the two maroons Hollister and sfgamfreak, once you guys grow up and realize the world *doesn't* revolve around you, maybe then you'll stop being so selfish. Until then though, don't wonder why you're being attacked.

Same thing for the film preview for the movie "The Core"...Note they are not delaying the movie...just the preview...
Same thing for SFGam...they aren't delaying the ride...just the announcement.
These seven astronauts were not "average people" they are heros who gave their lives pursuing advances for all humankind. I am saddened by the loss of their lives as I am for anyone who dies serving a public good. Am I a sap for mourning the death of a police officer who gets gunned down by a drug dealer? What about a fire fighter who dies when the building he is in, trying to save people, collapses around him? These tragedies are covered on the news on a local scale because these deaths are local. When these seven astronauts, died they were serving many nations, should not we all mourn?
Hollister, not that this is equivalent, but would you not mourn if the singer, in whatever band you happen to like, was to die in a "small crash" (and I am confused at how you could call the Columbia's disintegration a "small crash" - but that is a different issue entirely).
