The space program is something we all have a vested interest in. The budget of NASA is around 3.4 billion dollars per year. Yes, that comes from your salary, and income taxes. Also, as previously mentioned, many, many scientific and technological advances have come from the space program. (Including, I imagine, many advances in our own interest area... coasters).
Anytime one watches someone die, it is a traumatic event. The entire nation saw 7 people die on national TV. Whether or not you were personally affected by the loss of Columbia, people around you certainly were. Your friends, neighbors, family. How do you react to someone that is hurting? I imagine you would not walk up to them and say "get over it you fool." I find it hard to believe that you are actually as void of compassion as you come across. But, then again, I could be wrong.
Saturday, I was tired of seeing the images of the space shuttle streaking across the sky for four or five hours. I'll give you that. There certainly is a point at which it is time to move on. When that point is varies from event to event. I'm not sure when that is in this case. Some of that comes down to personal choices. I was moved yesterday when I saw the image of one of the patches from a space suit lying on the ground. Me, who was tired of hearing about the tragedy. Perhaps it is because I live 8 miles from the home of one of the astronauts.
I got married 4 days after September 11th. Does that mean I am disrespectful for the dead? In some eyes. I tell you what, though, I'll never forget what happened. My anniversary will always be joined with questions from people like "what was it like to get married so soon after 9/11?" It did effect me. We almost didn't get to go on our honeymoon. Having a space program is exactly the type of thing the terrorists would like to take from us. Those 7 people died showing the world that freedom has its advantages.
Yes, you have the right to your opinions. You have the right to voice your opinions in a public forum. However, that does not dissolve others' rights to criticize or publicly question your words.

You've been on the site since September. You should know by know that stuff like "any1" is not receiced well here.
Also, it doesn't take that long to go back over what you read to make sure MOST of it's spelled right.
Anyway...For just one second can you just look at what everyone is saying? Instead of being on the defense throughout this thread can you just TRY to understand what we are trying to get through to you?
It is clear that none of us on this site personally knew the people involved in the crash. However, and I'm not sure if you knew this, the coaster WILL be built. Yeah, that's right. Guess what else? It will PROBABLY be called Superman: Ultimate Flight. Suprised? You shouldn't be. Guess what man!!! I got this huge suprise for you!!!
IT'S A CLONE!
Wow. That was exciting. There's your press conference right there. That's what you are going to hear, give or take a few words.
Now, I hope you would say a prayer during the memorial for those who died OUT OF RESPECT. Now that I gave you some information, you have time.
I'll certainly pray for you man.
*sigh*

I have a life btw, I spend my time (when not working a full time job) making a difference to people, and doing something lasting about the state of Government, unlike you, who is content to talk badly about it, but not do anything other than complain. I'm curious as to how old you really are, since you seem to not want people to know by your profile...

Oh, and BTW, don't even come back at me with the "Why don't you Ignore me...." type B.S., cause I never said I didn't like proving Idiots like you wrong.

My prayers go out to all those who have died no matter how insignificat.
I do think that Six Flags didn't necessarily cancel the announcment because of the shuttle tragedy, but because of the Memorial service tomarrow. I would bet that if the memorial was Monday, the press conference would still probably be Tuesday. I don't forsee them delaying for long though I bet it will be announced within a week. If for no other reason than to give us something happy to think about.

To Hollister:
Frist I agree with everyone else, you need to improve your typing skills, use the lame ass resoning of "I do it to type faster", is about retarded. you use "u" for "you" that is a 2 key difference, I'm not saying that you can't spell (though by your posts you can't use proper pernunciation), but that said...
Have you considered that 99.9% of America (even less I'd wager) give a rat's ass about the SFGMA press release, but I'd say, because of this tragedy, about 80% of America does give a rat's ass about what happened up there 2 days ago, and has enough general human compassion, to mourn and feel this time of defeat for our nation, our brave people, the Israili's sacrifice, and the space progam, which is or only hope to find us a new home before we run out of natural resoures, before we bomb ourselves back into the stone age.
Sadly I think you wouldn't mind seeing that as long as something as petty as a coaster press release wasn't missed.
This may have only been 7 lives, but it was still tragic, more so when (and if) the reality sinks in the were risking thier lives for the betterment of every man, woman and child on earth. I'm not so shure that someone as selfcentered as you can grasp this concept.
