Um, I don't know what Six Flags Great America site you're looking at, but the one I'm looking at says nothing about the press release being cancelled or postponed.

Maybe because the original poster is the regional ACE rep and was notified by the park???

I am sorry but what the hell does a coaster have to do with a damn space shuttle. That is the thing I dont get about America. Everytime something happens to our damn country, everything gets delayed. technology, movies, and now rollercoasters!!! this is absurd! I mean i know it is sad and all that those people died, but dont let it put your life on hold. geez....This bothers me so much about our society today. And i dont mean to offend anyone about this incident either. I am not blaming the crew or the shuttle, i am blaming our retarded government!

The memorial service is tomorrow which would coincide with the conference.

How about we do the waiting game on this and see what takes place tuesday. It is not like we already know what is coming.

Hollister maybe you could explain how the goverment is delaying this press conferance. Let recall that the memorial service for those killed on the Shuttle is tuesday. It will not delay the coasters opening. Just calm down.

Wow. I thought you were "not" trying to offend anyone. When such tragic events like this happens life does need to be put on hold sometimes. It's not the Governments fault. It's nobodys fault. Maybe your obsession with coaster could wait while the country mourns such a tragic loss.

Sometimes you need to put everything aside and be a little less selfish once in a while...

The event was cancelled due to the national memorial event that is taking place tomorrow. Apparently they realize that honoring these heroes is of greater value than their announcement. I would guess that the updates to the web page occur at the national hq and not at the park itself. People may knock six flags for but they are doing the right thing as any business entity would. Not making the announcment tomorrow is not going to delay the construction. Show some respect.
I contacted the park myself because I am not going to take half day vacation for nothing and assumed that the event would be cancelled. The park was attempting to contact all who rspv'd.

it is not just my obsession w/ this coaster, it is movies 2, i dont think that this incident needs to put every1's lives on hold. I think it is rediculous to do that in any situation unless it is called for, and i dont really see this small crash as a big enough cause for hold ups. I mean it is tragic for the families of those people, and for nasa, but not for some1 who doesnt really have anything to do with it. It just is dumb to me, that's all. and i didnt offend anyone except our government, which needs to be offended for it's actions sometimes...

Hollister. I usually dont do this but here goes. What if god forbid one of your family members or a close friend passed away this evening and the funeral was tomorrow at ohhhhh lets say, during the press conference for the new coaster at SFGAm? As Keanu Reeves says in the movie "Speed"

"What do you do, what do you do"?

Like i said, if it were personnal it would be different. But it isnt. I dont have anything to do w/ this accident, so it doesnt apply to me. I just dont htink that every litle thing that hasppens in ourcountry needs to be dealt w/ a hold on our everyday lives and such. I could see delaying the conference for a few hours, but whatever! It is just what I think, you dont have to agree with either, it is just my opinion.

Other than the possibility that movies were delayed after September 11th., when has it been a problem? When have movies been postponed because of an event like this?

Also, other than the fact that there is a memorial service on Tuesday, how has the Government messed this up?

I don't see what you're blaming the Government for. Are you mad at the Government for sending up this space shuttle in the first place or something? Explain...

Hollister, u have to realize that in a show of respect for the people that want to take part in the memorial, SFGAm decided to postpone this, so as not to say "Hey, we don't care about this tragedy, here is a new coaster". I understand your POV (somewhat), but they are trying to be kind and understanding.

Had the park scheduled an announcement on Sept. 13, 2001, would you be mad at them for cancelling then? Though this is not as tragic on a country wide scale, it is tragic that there was loss of life, so think of the family members and friends, like SFGAm did.

And when you talk about movies, are you refering to "Phone Booth", which was delayed because of the D.C. Snipers? I live close to the D.C. area, and work at a gas station. As much as I REALLY want to see that movie, I think it was the right decision to delay it, as with the Twin Towers scene in Spiderman being taken out. I'd love to see that scene, but since they aren't there anylonger, it kind of makes the scene of a movie in which is to be current, pointless.

Six Flags decided to postpone the announcement, not the government. I guess SF should contact Washington and say "Hey, what the heck are you doing? Dont you know we have a coaster to announce? How dare you schedule your meaningless memorial during our very important coaster revealing!!!!!"

Take a look at the quoted message and realize that what we discuss here everyday takes a backseat sometimes.

I am basically referring to al the wars that take place and the 9/11 stuff that they knew and stuff. They can just be very stupid sometimes that is all. the gov. hasnt messed up w/ the memorial service, i just think that sfgam doesnt need to delay this for another tim,e. maybe push back conference for a few hours, but that is it. I still dont get why this crash is such a big deal in the first place. I think it is being blown way out of proportion, and the gov. is also to blame for that i think. It is just really messed up that's all.

it is stupid to me, plain and simple. And why should i be considerate to people i dont even know??? It just doesnt make sense to me. I dont really care though. Whatever happens, happens.
