If the weather dosn't get much better for a while do u think S:UF or w/e ride it is will be open by opening day (may 3rd)
If Great Adventure can finish there ride in 3 weeks which already has up to 1/2 of the pretzal done. I think Great America can finish their ride in 3 months.

i wouldnt say that Dejavu opened a lot later than all the other the ones
Well this is a B&M we are talking about. It is a simple continuous circut. I doesn't have all kinds of pulley and cable systems like deja vu. It is a far less complicated ride.

Yes thats true, but SFGAm had to first dismantle Shockwave in order to start construction on the new coaster.

Yeah, i have some theories on that. No proof, but see if this looks reasonable: Okay, everyone but DRNK agrees that the problems on the GIBs were pretty much due to Vekoma. Therefore, I think it's reasonable to assume that actual Vekoma personel were on-site to get them all up and running. However, they only had enough people to get one done at a time. For obvious reasons, Six Flags sent them to their (more or less) flagship park first. For less obvious reasons, they then went to Georgia, and finally Illinois. Sound reasonable to anyone else? Anyone got information that proves/disproves this?

In addition to the fact that SFGAm had to dismantle Shockwave, they are constructing the coaster in a different manner than SFGadv. If you take a look at the const. pics you can see that GAm is working more on supports, then track; where as Gadv is doing both at the same time. IMHO GAm is not too far behind.

Things to do in the offseason:
1. Have fun with friends 2. Ski in the great outdoors 3. Not sit in front of the computer for hours obsessing about coasters
I think this thread is about GAm not GADv, also SFGAm has three months like it has been mentioned, and GAm's will be finished by opening day. It is a B&M coaster not Vekoma.

Is it May 3rd yet? SFGAm

Actual construction on Deja Vu didn't start until *late* into the winter. Remember when the park opened with only one tower and the boomerang finished? The actual physical construction wasn't done until well into the 2001 season. That wasn't Vekoma's fault.

*If* the Vekoma engineers were required to get the rides up and running, then it makes sense they were sent to SFMM and SFoG before SFGAm for more reasons than "flagship" status; SFoG's and SFMM's were finished first! Additionally, notice that all the parks that built a GIB built other major attractions that year (SFGAm built V2, SFoG built Acrophobia, and SFMM built X). It was important for SFMM to get Deja Vu open as soon as possible because X had not opened yet. SFGAm came after SFoG, probably because SFGAm had V2 running well and SFoG had not yet opened a coaster, and coasters usually have more drawing power than anything else.

I agree. I bet that it will be done really soon. Its a B& M we are talking about. But the weather has not been so great.

Whats red yellow and blue at SFGAm...???

Does anyone know why in the world Deja Vu's construction didn't start til February? (V2 began even later). That seems mighty late.
SFGAd's Superman better be farther along than SFGAm's, they open a full month earlier & have the opening of the ride set for roughly 2 weeks prior to us

True, but long before any of the coasters opened, the one at SFGAm was up to the standards of the other two.

This is going to sound very weird, and I'm not sure whose side I'm helping, but did SFGAm originally build their Deja Vu backwards? Don't laugh: I could be totally wrong on this, and would not mind if someone told me I'm flat out wrong. But, I remember going past Great America in march of 2001, and seeing Deja Vu in the opposite direction it is now (like they have it in the park map), with the cobra roll done, the loop half-way finished, and both towers well on there way. Am I the victim of an optical illusion, a really bad memory, or was there even more to this ride's construction than is generally known?

It's really impossible to tell if the SFGAm was ever "up to the standards of the other two" long before opening. Sure, most of the obvious physical construction of all three rides was complete long before opening, but that doesn't mean SFGAm's was as complete as the others. Some of the equipment (particularly computer equipment, cables, etc) may not have been complete on the SFGAm ride but were on the other two, since those rides were erected first. Also, remember that SFGAm's train was sent to Georgia after the incident there during testing (another blow to the SFGAm ride).

And no, SFGAm's ride was never built backwards. I'd blame a bad memory for that one. :-)

Alright here's the UPDATE that I have been trying to get for the past few days and the weather finally gave me a break. I took these pictures about 1 hour ago. When I was finished snapping the shots it started snowing. Crazy. Anyway you can see from the pictures that the lift is almost complete and all the supports for the initial drop have been raised as well.

Enjoy

Wow, Nice to see the construction progressing a little!
It's odd to see RB in the background of some of these pics and then realize that this coaster is going in Shockwave's footprint.
Thanks for the pics, this is coming along nicely.
fantastic pics! construction seems to be at a good pace.
