SF St. Louis - Anything going on??

I am a little surprised that the ride is being built this early, I was expecting March to be construction time. I guess the park wants to have time to theme and test the ride, since it has not run very much recently.

The real question now is will the ride be open 8 weeks from now(opening day)?

I start work ing out at the park next Thursday doing cleanup, so I should be able to give an update on the construction and possibly find out when it should be open.

Just drove past the park and XCALIBUR is clearly visible from outside the park in most spots. It is blocked by Colossus around where 44 and Six Flags Rd. meet. But you can see the ride from a lot more places than I thought.

It is positioned basically North/South, in the spot where the Great Escape was for sure. Don't think the wheel/cars are on the ride now, but can't see that from anywhere.

Yeah Pat, I'm actually going in Tuesday now so I'll try to update everyone on the construction status of Xcalibur Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Hey Pat, I went there today and from what I could tell it was all up except for the wheel and cars. In case you didn't know, they gave me the Train, Sling, Turbo, and the Rock Wall. Yee-haw! I was supposed to work today, Thursday and Friday, but with the weather, it just too cold to power wash anything.

Just to let everybody know, I just recieved the season pass info. today in the mail, same price as last year. It has a computer generated version of XCALIBUR in it, a little different then the artist rendering.
Aaarrgg stop rubing it in (I wont be in till March 21st). Hey did they kick out the Rock Climbing leese? IF so this is good news for all. Nobody likes leeses with them making more money, doing less work, them having less rules, and yet they get most of the perks as the regular 5.45$ joe. I guess I should stop rubing that all in. :)

For the past 3 yrs I have worked for Observ. I have been around a little bit. My first season (2000/P*ss tag) I was a vender/cart person/lemon squeezer (squeezing a 1000 lemons on a saturday morning is no fun when forced to listen to Dave mathews *shivers*) In 2001 I became a lead. My first stand was Kettle Korn later on I bounced around a little. Then in 2002 I was runing the stands inside the two theaters. This year I will be turnign out 100 of gallons of squishy by my self in Stock yards. I may or may not be a superviser it wasnt made clear to me. SFSL I see you work in rides which ones? And Budda I think i know who you are.

Bossstl, it wouldn't surprise me if you know me. Sometimes , I think half the park knows me with as long as I have been there. Once, I see you I'll probably recognize you too. And, SFSL, I'll see ya Saturday.

I find it a bit odd that they are waiting to theme it until the put the thing up...I wonder why they didn't theme it while it was in pieces?

It is much easier to paint soemthign (ie the supports) while its up right instead of it laying on its side. Think about it, how would you paint a pencil. Also I belive the gondolas have been painted already, might be wrong there.

Last time I went by the park, they were over in the employee parking lot next to the warehouses - I would assume they are going to be painted there in the shop. Of course I forgot my camera at home, otherwise I would have pictures, but oh well....

SFSL - since you were right up next to it, where are the pictures? ;)

Well, I was just thinking about how awkward it would be to theme something that tall after it's already up...oh well...I guess I was wrong...:-)

XCALIBUR is currently being painted a tan color and then it is being wrapped with the wooden looking stuff for the theme. The wheel is also on the ride, but the cars are not.
Just curious how you know that
I was out seeing when I go back to work and I think that the cars are sitting in the maintenance area painted.

I was at the park today and they are putting on Xcalibur's cars. The cars are different colors, blue, yellow and green from what I saw. It should be ready for opening day. The structure itself is more of a gold than tan.
