SF St. Louis - Anything going on??

If you want to see a picture of The Great Escape(before it is gone) you can here http://www.themeparksonline.org/tpogame.asp?ID=283&ParkID=3.

Also, I don't think there is any way you are going to see construction from anywhere outside the park. The ride will be blocked by Colossus from 44 and you can't really see into the park much from Allenton Rd.

Here is something else that's kind weird...the Great Escape isn't/wasn't in Brittania, it was in Gateway to the West. Now, I realize that it is on the border, so technically they could just call the spot what they wanted, but I just thought that was kinda odd...

Six Flags finally updated the official site with Xcalibur info.(nothing new, we don't already know). If you want to find the info. type Xcalibur in the quick ride search.

If anybody does not know yet, the park opens Friday, April 18. Also, the park is closed completly on April 20(Easter).

Hey I'm wondering if, when they put up the whole ride, if you will be able to see Xcalibur from I-44 or that outer access road (or the parking lot for that matter). It may be hidden behind Colossus, but I'm thinking it may be far enough over that you could see the top of it. (especially if it is running and fully inverted) Will the new ride be open on April 18th?

It's a pretty tall flat.

For anyone who cares, I went by the park todya and nothing hhas changed. With the exception that the ride veichles are gone probly in the mechanics shop.

Thanks for keeping us updated! Hey I wonder, will Xcalibur be the type of ride that people throw up on all the time? Or will it not be so sickening? I mean, it seems like it would be a very barf-inducing ride, since, unlike the Highland Fling, you are facing up, and not the direction you are going. (So you don't really have anything to focus your eyes on while the ride is running, because just about everything around you is moving!) Did it make many people sick at SFGAdv?(When it was open) Just wondering....

I honestly don't think so.

If anyone is still interested on what this thing does, or looks like in action. On America's Greatest Rollercoaster Thrill: The Next Generation, they show this ride in action up at SFGAdv (yes actual documentation that it did run there) during the Medusa segment, when they are introducing the park. (I was watching the video this weekend and about had a cow when I saw it running). :)

It seems to me that you would get the same type of ride motions on Xcalibur that you get on a Chaos (minus the cars flipping over). Judging by the posts here: http://www.coasterbuzz.com/forum.aspx?mode=thread&TopicID=28438 I would say this thing is going to be pretty puke-tastic.

Kip (who is more than a *little* worried he may get sick on Xcalibur... if not from the ride, then surely from the cheesy Generation-X name)

At least the Xcalibur name & theme fits in better to the theme of Brittania than a giant wooden Harley Davidson...
Hey whatever happened to the Vekoma Air Jumper that we had on site? I know it was here, because I have a picture of the peices, and it looks just like peices of a Vekoma Air Jumper. (I compared the picture with a picture of Time Warp @ SFNE) I believe I took the picture in April of 2001 or so. What happened to this ride? Why is SFSTL so bad at NOT putting up rides they have? lol I mean, SkyScreamer, Big Bend, and now this ride. What is the deal? Does anyone know what happened to the Air Jumper? Or, did they move this ride to another park? I wonder if any other Six Flags parks have recently recieved an Air Jumper...Or could they possibly have plans to install it this year, they just didn't announce it? If you ask me, an Air Jumper would look really nice in the spot that Rush Street Flyer is in now. I'm not saying that they should get rid of the Rush Street Flyer, but maybe they could move it. lol *Sigh* If only I was the manager of Six Flags....;-)

I believe the Air Jumper is still here at Six Flags St. Louis.

I was told the ride came damaged or was damaged here and it will never run.

Any speculation or knowledge as to if Big Bend is still in storage at SFStL?

Well, I think I saw somewhere that whenever SFSTL wanted to use it, it was in such bad shape that they couldn't use it. So I imagine they got rid of it...but I'm not positive...It's a shame that we lost such a cool ride (At least it looked cool).

Oh! And where did the Vekoma Air Jumper come from? Did they buy a new one just for SFSTL? The color of the parts I saw were white, so that kinda makes me think that it was a new one, since it was just white. But I don't know though....

Well the day has finally come, the much anticapated ride has finally gone vertical. As of today ole yellower (sorry its a odd name i have for a huge crane the park likes to bring in when it needs extra hight) started to place XCALIBUR into place. It is still blue so hopefully they will start painting once its finally assembled. I thought all of you would like to know the above.

I would like to give credit to Eagle Guy (i think thats his handle) for giving me this info to share.

How 'bout MiG send you a roll of film, you shoot that film and then send it back to us? I honestly don't have the time to drive to the 'Lou. Actually surprised I could make time to get to Branson for the update that is coming out tonight/tomorrow. email me at thirtytwoproductions@hotmail.com if you are interested.

I can get them developed at my photo lab where I work for cheap, so developing them isn't the problem, it's the drive down there from Truman.

Well, I went by the park today, and it looked to me like the construction of Xcalibur was almost complete!!! I was shocked! You can definately see the ride from the road. Well, I'm not sure if the wheel of the ride is attached yet, as I couldn't see the bottom of the ride. The ride was still blue, with a purple circle attached to the end of it. I saw some (I think) of the cars sitting in the employee parking lot. (I didn't go into the employee lot, but you could see a few of them if you drove on Six Flags Road. You can definately see the ride from several spots on Six Flags Road, but you have to look through trees. I took a lot of pictures, so maybe I can develop them soon for you all to look at! But, if anyone drives by the park, look just to the right of Colossus and there it will be! Just thought I'd let you all know! By the way, if anyone wants to send me money to get my pictures developed, my address is ......;-)
