Rumors of the removal of GL's X-Flight

Carowinds needs dibs on Dominator (were GL to close), even if the smoothness of Top Gun would put it to shame. Although otoh, there isn't any sort of launched coaster (no, Hulk doesn't count) in the Down Dirty, so maybe Steel Venom would be a better choice. They need something, darnit.

Wait - why doesn't Hulk count?

Honestly? It defeats my argument for bringing it here. :)

  • PKI - It's just too close to GL and the concept wouldn't be as impressive to the public.

This does leave Dorney, PCW, and Valleyfair! but my top two choices would be WOF and MiA.

Both parks could benifit with X-Flight, having the market where the ride would have a "never been seen before" reaction by the public.

Never underestimate how the gen. public would react to it at PKI. Enthusiasts would know it came from GL, but most members of the gen. public probably don't even know GL exists. What Katherine said on the podcast last week is absolutely true about Cincy natives. The believe SOB is the end all, be all of coasters. Imagine how they would react to X-Flight!

For my money, if it were going to be moved, and I could decide it's future, it'd be headed for MiA. They need a steel coaster other than Corkscrew up there. To me, X-Flight would be perfect for them.

Send SV to either Dorney or PKD....so far there aren't any impulses in the eastern half of the US.

They could send Dominator down to PKD & stick it somewhere in the old virginia section.

Head Spin and Thunderhawk would have better chances of going to MiAdv than X Flight.
^That's a good idea. I hate both those rides. Let's give them an Ohio Headache.

Sidenote: If that were to happen, wouldn't it be fun to cover the supports with OSU Buckeyes stickers? Sure, it would also be vandalism, but what a great prank.

I don't see any steel coasters being relocated to Dorney Park in the near future... they have other, more significant plans for the near future.

If Hulk's launch counts, why doesn't the one a half-mile away count? ;)

I luv my Mummy... :)

PKD already has enough IMO, give it to PKI!!!

It's the closest CF park to me! ;)

Rob: Wood you dare elaborate on your Dorney comment?

We're all curious...

Yeah, they want to make Geauga and Traditional again and ruined the best one out there.

I'm sorry..did I miss something? Is Geauga Lake being dismantled or are you just taking your fantasies to a lame level?

Geauga Lake is not being dismantled, as far as we know. Heck, even Screamscape, which thrives on rumor, is currently posting that such musings are false.

I usually do not take what Screamscape has to say with a grain of salt, but in the case of Geauga Lake, they have pretty much been on the money for the last few seasons.
X-Flight's totally a sore thumb as far as type of ride for that park and how much it probably costs to operate compared to what it's worth for a park that has fairly low attendance to keep operational. Why not remove it and send it to a park that does have the budget to make it worthwhile and give them a brand new attraction for guests in 2007? It doesn't seem that bogus to me..

Well considering how bad the capacity can be on X-Flight, I don't know why anyone would want the trouble to begin with.
^On average how many trains have they been running on X-Flight lately?

Batwing's 3rd train appears to have gone MIA for the past couple of seasons but this year they did manage to run two trains far more often than in past years.
