Rumors of the removal of GL's X-Flight

I did hear there were surveyors from Mason, OH checking out X-Flight, it that means anything.

Milford, a Cincinnati suburb. Berding Surveying.

Yeah that really doesn't mean crap because their site says they've done work in Cleveland before, but it was interesting food for thought at first.

how do you know if the locals really want that kind of coaster if they haven't had it yet? Plus if the park goes somewhat dead when the waterpark oepns, maybe a coaster like that is what they want to draw some of them to stay in the park so all the crowds aren't concentrated in one area. *** Edited 11/30/2006 12:02:21 AM UTC by P18***

Every body knows that commercials draw in big crowds when they see whats new for that year. So i think a lot more commercials the better off their be.

I just don’t get everyone saying that CF needs to market the park better. The park is in transition and has developed a negative image over the past few years. Why would you want to encourage large amounts of people to come to a park that is not near 100 % and run the risk of turning them off from the park, possibly for a second time. I think CF is doing the correct thing by going slow and steady on correct the problems in the park and when they feel it is ready for the crowds the marketing will follow. It takes time to build a strong brand, Premier-Six Flags is an example how rushing to build a brand to fast can destroy your company, and your customer base.

I do beleve all CF parks should get this coaster but their can only be one winner and that winner will be MIA.
^Proof? And, don't say the poll over at Screamscape.
Ringy-dingy-dingy-dingy!

School's in session! Ready for a story problem?

Amusement park A gets 700,000 visitors a year. That's not enough to pay to maintain one of their rollycoasters. You want to send it to another park that can handle the expense. Remember, more visitors equals more money coming in the park to pay for the expenses. Which of these parks would you send it to?

A) A nearby park that gets 3.3 million people a year?

B) A park in Canada that gets 3.6 million a year?

C) A few other parks that draw roughly 2 million a year and didn't have any other big plans in the works

D) A couple parks that draw about a million a year, but either got or are getting new coasters already

or....OR?

F) A park that drew 550,000 last year, which was a really REALLY good year for them

Can you see why so many people don't believe the rumors? Do we need to sit anybody in the corner with a 'Dunce' cap? Do we really?

A) Nothing planned as of now. Another is getting a new coaster.

B) A park in Canada - has a flying coaster.

C) Charlotte - has a flying coaster; Richmond - IJ this year.

D) MN, MO, CA, and PA parks all got coasters in past two years except CA park which did not support Flying coaster.

F) A park that drew 550,000 last year, which was a really REALLY good year for them.

The reason they only got 550,000 is because they never get nothing worth getting. People dont want to go to a park with a S*** selection of coasters and trill rides. The only thrill ride their, you have2 pay 15$ to ride (RipCord). Of course the other parks will get a lot of people with THRILLS and Coasters. MIA has neither. Yea they have Shivering Timbers but how long can they really last on the air time machine. They have a coaster that goes upside down, the Corkscrew and geuss what it only goes up side down twice and goes 40 mph. Besides that they have a mouse coaster and a 2 other wooden and a junior and thats preety much it. O yea the water park ( NO THRILLS ).
Now see, the REASON they aren't getting anything huge (such as... X Flight) is because they CAN'T get more than that number. Why add a large expensive thrill coaster that they can't afford? They had a REALLY GOOD YEAR after the addition of a smaller, not-as-expensive-as-a-rolly-coaster, drenching water ride that obviously went over QUITE well.

CP/PKI can add a more expensive due to the fact that they can actually pull the numbers required to pay off the ride in 1-2 seasons. If MIA were to add something too big, we'd just see another GL.

Really? That so? Are you sure?

Then how come their attendance went UP to 550,000? Why isn't it 400,000 any more? If your theory was right, they should be drawing about 27 people a day, right? As short as they are on uh, Trill.

Looks like the the water park is precisely what's bringing them in. I count one...two...fourteen...oh wait about a HUNDRED THOUSAND MORE PEOPLE. How'd that happen?

And besides...No thrills in a water park? Dood. What are you, asexual?

^ What's up with this kinder gentler Playa? We preferred the gruff guy from before, LOL.

Yes, sending X-Flight to MiA would virtually guarantee them hitting the 1M attendance mark....which makes me wonder why HW didn't buy a Vekoma flyer instead of Voyage... :)

^Playa's just having an "off" day, Bill. ;)

Try telling Holiday World that there is NO THRILLS in a waterpark. I <3 Splashin' Safari! :)
"^ What's up with this kinder gentler Playa? We preferred the gruff guy from before, LOL."

I don't. Please don't encourage him, Gator. :)

As much as I love KI, I don't think XF is the kind of ride that is right for the park. XF's capacity is not very good, and a megapark like KI doesn't need any more low capacity, big draw coasters. I really hope XF goes to a smaller park in need of a new coaster to help boost the gate.

I would love for PKI to get X-Flight for the selfious reason of wanting to ride it again, here I am I just get to Ohio and they rip out my favorite ride at GL (I know Im weird) having at PKI would just be another reason for me to go down there (along with Beast, and FoF.) Even though I could go to MIA, I would have to pay parking there and the park is too small to spend a whole day at.

Oh shoot, scratch that, I forgot to make up a legit reason as to why I want X-Flight at park X to hide my personal reasons ;). Seriously folks, MIA vs PKI vs CF Park X has been going on for most of this tread, lets temporarly retire this topic until those green tracks start ending up at their final destination.

^So you'd prefer it if everyone else stop having the discussion?

Dex...Coasterkid *had* it coming...for a WHILE now...

Finally, waterpark "trills" may not be MY cup of tea...but gate recepits show that LOADS of people simply can't get enough of them...parks are better served catering to the wants of the masses...

Someone had to call that kid out. MiA has been enjoying double digit growth for a couple of years. It doesn't need a new coaster to satisfy one whiny kid.

For GOOD news re: GL (and their wood), check out this (also posted this link in the Kemah thread):
http://www.martin-vleminckx.com/work_in_progress.htm

Getting the OLD Villain back would *more than make up* for the loss of X-Flight, no? :)

That is good news! I think re-tracking Villain is a good exchange for losing X-Flight. At least, it should give them the money they would have spent on X-Flight to repair Villain.
