As for some PC's not being able to handle it, Ofcourse the graphics are going to be more powerful in this game. I know i have the PC power to run this game, So im happy. I know i sound selfish, But hey... This game looks awesome.

Save enough to buy a new high end computer by the end of '04.
I need a new computer anyway, so this game is a good incentive. I don't think that my P2 is going to get the job done.
I watched the video 5 times. It made me laugh out loud each time. The on ride view looks nice and smooth, even through the rough transitions of the coasters. The peep anamation is cute. The breakdancing panda will start to get anoying after I see it about 10 more times.
I think that the scenes were cut quickly because it's just a teaser. They didn't want you to notice everything about the game just from that video; it's just something to get the people in the room excited. It seems that it was leaked out and not intended to be made public.
Maybe I am stating the obvious here. bla-bla-bla.
I would like to see:
Huge HUSS rides
New elements, barrel roll, larger corckscrews, dive loops, etc.
Track can do anything at any angle.
Night and day mode.
Realism, season tickets, working car parks, people go on transport ride to get somewhere not for fun and larger rides are more xtreme, e.g if you build a rocket coaster it isnt very xtreme to peeps!
Does anyone know if it will be permeantly in 3D cause that may be hard to make rides like that and making buildings, etc.
My first post in ages!

COOL! I love it!! The graphics are amazing, my parks are very realistic so the goofy objects don't bother me, but going through my parks will be so cool!! Only a few weeks to it comes out, cant wait!!
Actually, it's being released Holiday Season 2004 (a few weeks? Yeah, I wish).

I think I even saw a mullet!
edit: So far, I'm lovin what I'm seein! It looks as though they've just transfered what we like about RCT1 & 2 and made it 3D. I see all the Scenery from the first 2 plus more. More Flats. Hopefully more coasters(sure of this one). Hopefully there will be options to theme flat rides, but I don't need 4 or 5 of the same ride with different skins and not any new flats...I'd guess that so far they're translating the old games into 3D and adding even more! *** Edited 3/24/2004 9:00:28 PM UTC by TeknoScorpion***

From the sounds of it... Chris Sawyer is NOT directly working on this project, but it doesn't seem to matter. There was no mention on anymore freedom of building the coaster, but the emphasis was put more towards pleasing the peeps in the park.
So is he or is he not working on the game?
Click "Return to the review" at the bottom of the link that tricktrack supplied for the Gamespy review. I found it VERY informitive.
On a serious note, the landscapes look great, but some of the coasters look very dodgy, particularly the wooden coaster, and from the screenshots I'm pretty certain the coasters will be built in the same way as RCT1 and 2, which is very limited. Just look at the Corskcrew in 3.jpg, that transition spelsl pre built pieces, which wouldn't be so bad if they were more realistic.
Some of the flats look good, notice the colored lights on the ferris wheel, and the different canopies for some of the rides (hopefully, we'll be able to select these, rather than having them listed as different rides). I'm not so fond of the entrances to the rides, those ticket booths (if that's what they are) look like giant trashcans.
The peep detail looks pretty cool, but several of the pics look pretty cluttered, hopefully that's just down to poor park building and not poor game design.
As for riding the rides and walking through the park, the concept is good, but I think the novelty will wear off pretty soon, unless you can actually interact with it all. For instance, enter the park, decide what you want to ride, pay money for it, buy food, get stuck in queues, etc.
But overall, I think it looks pretty awesome. I'm glad we will finally be able to ride our own roller coasters.

(disclaimer: This isn't a direct counter to you in particular, Grant, but rather to the many people who share these thoughts.)
Ahem.
I think you're wishing the game was something the creators don't intend it to be. This isn't "super realistic roller coaster good fun design hour" - that'd be a game called "No Limits"
The first one focused on building parks, economics of doing so and sim game play. The roller coasters were a featured part of that, but not the focus.
The second one added more for the "coaster crowd" but was essentially an extention of the original.
Now in this preview for the third installment you get this quote:
"The new game will also put more emphasis on 'peeps'...In RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, you'll have a lot more to worry about. Peeps now have ages and belong to different age groups. This means that you'll have to please a whole range of visitors... etc"
Sounds to me like the game is going to lean even farther away from "roller coaster game" and more towards "amusement park sim".
The gameplay appears to be staying pretty much the same, the goals seem to be shifting more towards park management and the whole thing is simply being moved to a 3D environment.
I can already hear the complaints when this thing comes out.
This will not be an upgraded roller coaster design tool. This will be no more realistic than the current version. The graphics will be questionable and smooth transitions are not a priority (or even remote concern) of those in charge.
This is simply RCT2 in a 3D setting with an added emphasis on more detailed scenario play.
I still think too many "enthusiasts" expect this to be "No Limits: Full park designer" - it's not going to be.
The article states that RCT has sold 7,000,000 copies over the lifetime of the franchise. The wants of the minority that are coaster enthusiasts are not who the creators of this game are catering to. Sure, they'll toss us a bone if they can (as evidenced with RCT2), but they're not changing their amusement park sim game to a roller coaster design tool to please a very small segment of their customer base.
(all of this assumes the accuracy of the preview, of course)
