Roller Coaster Tycoon 3D

This game could be so great, but then on the other hand, it could fail in so many ways. Either way, I'm excited. :)

Fall in so many ways? Dude... it couldn't possibly be any worse than RCT2.

Not that the game was bad, but it was basically RCT1's exact same graphic engine (ie: 4yrs old at the time it came out), with new rides & stuff to do. Not to mention the expansion packs absolutely sucked.

I hope Gamespot has some info on this... and then the E3 should absolutely rock with new footage... I just hope some teaser shots are shown beforehand...

...I'm sure it'll be great because they'll still use the simplistic building tools for the coaster, but probably use more enhanced graphic engines similar to those used in all those budget Tycoon games (or... perhaps.. Sim City4? :))

I can't believe its due out by late 2004. That was MUCH earlier than I would have ever anticipated because its only 2 years after RCT2 came out. Considering we had to wait a good 3.5 years for RCT2 to come out after RCT, it just seems really early.

A 3d version should be awesome. It would be like No Limits (with a much easier rollercoaster designer) combined with the fun and playability of RCT. I know what I am getting for Christmas this year.

This should be interesting to see if they can pull it off but I'd assume that basic system requirements are gonna be pretty high just to run such a game.

That has always been the main reason why they have stuck to using a 2d isometric viewpoint for the game since day one.

This might be just a console-system game, not PC.
You mite find this site interesting...

It's already on top of my Christmas list and all the other list I have. Next to a new computer of course to run the game.

I agree that RCT2 was essentially just the expansion packs from RCT1, but supposedly it WAS a total recode.

Crap. I knew that RCT would eventually lose its 2-D charm, but was hoping it wouldn't happen.

Oh well. At least they have Chris Sawyer making it. He'll give us a good game.

Hey everybody. What's cooler than being cool?

DawgByte, What I meant was the concept of the game could fail in many ways. I think it will either be really good, or really bad. Hit or miss if you will.

Anything so far, in my opinion, that had direct involvement of Sawyer was top notch. The first game and expansions were great, and I think the scenarios were all very well designed. The second game, in terms of the engine and editing updates were good, but the scenarios that weren't designed by Sawyer were terrible (the Six Flags junk). The RCT2 expansions were absolutely horrible.

I'm anxious to see what he's up to. I assume a guy that can single-handedly produce a game in machine code can write his own 3D engine, but who knows.

I would like to see a front seat view of the rider like in ultimate ride. that would be cool

I just more realistic graphics akin to Zoo Tycoon & Sim City4... I don't really care about the 3D part...

...so as long as all the graphics & sounds are 100% new & the gameplay is much more in-depth while still retaining all the fun & charm of the original. (sounds so cliche, ya know?)

Gonch has been surprisingly quiet on the subject - don't you think? :)

You know what I'm most excited about? The potential for another official contest. Maybe they'd be willing to pony up some more great prizes.

It's always "me, me, me", isn't it? ;)

Is there any other news out there? I am exicited about this but after reading that one sentence that was about all there is. Is this a reliable source or is it one of those rumors.
If it ain't broken dont fix it!

I ws fine with RCT, then out comes RCT2, and im ok with that too b/c it didnt change too much, but now its gonna be 3D. Thats a big change. I really am hoping that it has some very realistic graphics, not like Sim Theme Oark and those other crappy theme park sims.

The suspense for this game is killing me.......

Amazing that we've gone this many days with no massive wish list topic for RCT3. Maybe everyone got this out of their system withthe RCT2 expansion packs?
Does the site actually say that Chris is working on it or does it say that he brought us the original RCT.
A more variety of flats, and new roller coaster track pieces would satisfy me more than RCT 3D.
