Rock the Vote?

I only paid to switch out of that god-awful color scheme.

Yea, I know that, I read ARN&R ;) Still, the concept applies (and my old sig didn't even have a link in it, it was just words ... ) especially to the Nickleback and Trapt links.

When it comes to the site, it's Jeff's site but it's also the club memebers'. When I sent in my $20, I was buying certain features and services, and whether or not it's Jeff site, I am entitled to those features/services or to my money back.

I personally don't care about the ad that much, but I just wonder why it's there and why I can't see some other kind of banner. Maybe for some event or for PointBuzz or just eliminate that part of the page if there's nothing worth putting there.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

And to think I only whore my own 'Buzz posts...

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Impulse-ive I would appreciate if you didn't attack me personally because I am not attacking you personally.

1.)What I am seeing is a BANNER and on the club page it says that I am not going to see any banners.

2.) The difference between my signature or anyone elses for that matter is that if you don't want to look at it you can TURN IT OFF! I can't turn off that banner. I am forced to look at it. I personally find it inapporpriate for a coaster discussion site. I don't even mind the CoasterBuzz club banner or when he had the ones up about the new ride at PKI or club events. They were coaster related. *** Edited 9/1/2004 9:20:26 PM UTC by Sarah Jackson***

Yeah, I don't care what ANYONE thinks about RTV, but club memebers PAID to not see ANY banner or popup ads. I'm definately not going to join now if that simple promise can't even be kept.
Wow, this is all over a banner? Well it is a coaster site and I think most of the people here are registered to vote, it's like every where we go this election we have to hear something about voteing being so important this election. We got the picture, stick to coaster-related material... please

Inappropriate for a coaster site? Since when was voting such a dirty topic?
Whatever your opinion is on Rock the Vote, Sarah is still completely in the right with the fact that she paid so she wouldn't have to see any banners and such.

And if the offer changed, then what?
Access to various features changed when the Club was formed, didn't they?
They did when the CBuzz Games was made 'members only' too.

Would you give back the online and real-life friends you made, too?

I'm not going to beat around the bush anymore. My two cents...this is pissy, piddling and flat-out silly. There. I said it.

Wow... that sure is a lot of over-reacting. I'm not even sure how to respond to it, if I should bother responding at all.

That space on the home page has been used to promote things since the day the club started. The last thing it promoted was the PKI Italian Job Stunt Track trailer with a giant 550x200 banner. We've promoted our events there. The CoasterBuzz Club banner and/or text links have been there in the same place for more than a year. The club page has links to our corporate members, Cedar Point and Holiday World. Why hasn't anyone said anything about that in the years that has been running?

Right now, I have nothing to promote, so I'm promoting a non-profit group that gets kids to register to vote. It's a public service announcement I voluntarily put there, and I don't get a dime for it. If you find that offensive for some reason, I'm not going to apologize for it.

Next month is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and I'll probably put up some links for that because there isn't anything else coming up to promote. If that bothers you, again, I'm not going to apologize for it.

If it bothers you that much, I don't know what to tell you. Bookmark a different page on the site.

The first thing I thought when I saw the banner was...yep, more evidence that this will be a record year for voter turnout. And that is a good thing. It would appear to me (and my walnut brain) that a certain party is against this (hmm, I wonder why). More Americans are being informed (including us youngin's) and hopefully will exercise our right. I am just hoping that this will prevent the blunder that was 11/2000. Anyway enough of my rambling...I don't mind the ad at all.
editorial much, sir Antuan?
The reason I said inappropriate is because Jeff has always made this a coaster or coaster related site. All other topics are not allowed. I don't see how this banner is any different than a topic that isn't allowed.

I never meant that voting itself is a "dirty topic" but I just don't believe it belongs here. I'm neither Republican or Democratic, so with it being a Democratic campain or not doesn't mean anything to me personally.

When I started this topic I only asked if maybe there was something wrong with my computer. I thought maybe I had spyware on my computer and I was seeing a spy banner because it is the only one I remember ever seeing being non coaster related. Then I started to feel personally attacked, things then changed. *** Edited 9/2/2004 12:48:43 AM UTC by Sarah Jackson***

Jeff, is there any way to change the part of the banner that says, "Club costs 5c a day" to anything else?

I actually didn't even give a second thought to that part of the page until it started asking me to join a club that I had already joined... *** Edited 9/2/2004 12:49:34 AM UTC by ApolloAndy*** *** Edited 9/2/2004 12:50:01 AM UTC by ApolloAndy***

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I said . . .

"Technically, this is not an advertisement.

There is a highly distinct possibilty that the link is not a revenue generator, simply a PSA."

Jeff said.

"It's a public service announcement I voluntarily put there, and I don't get a dime for it."

I am not going to bother to comment on what KtS said.

Enough said.

Odd... I don't have it up there at all. Maybe Norton blocks it automatically, but I did see the Italian Job spot before that.

Wasn't the PKI banner just an ad for a park?

How long is anyone actually on the front page anyway?

Hi

Not being a buttkisser or anything, but I think that it is extremely cool that you put this ad on the site. Any public service is commendable. It shows your true character.
