Rides that are past their Sell-by date! :-)

Hi all,

Here's a chance for everybody to have a little rant :-) What rides do you think should have been sent to the 'Great Themepark Scrapyard in the Sky' a long time ago. Here are my candidates:

The Pepsi Max Big one MegaCoaster- Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Some say it's a engineering masterpiece, others say it's a bit ****.....either way....it's a bit ****! Apparently, the designers buggered off for a coffee after devising the first drop and let the cleaning lady do the rest of the coaster :-)

It's a small world. Disneyworld.

Upon disembarking the boats, riders glance up at the ride operator and the looks on their faces say it all: "You bastard.......why???" :-) Disney, please do the decent thing: end the suffering! NOW!

Rock n' Roll Rollercoaster. MGM

Great Launch....into a pretty unremarkable, but very rough coaster layout. Ouch, my head!! Pass the Paracetemol and the earplugs, so I never have to listen to "Dude looks like a Lady" again. :-)

The Sewer Rat at Lightwater Valley

Absolutely fantastic theming......ruined by this useless"coaster in a shed". I want that minute and a half of my life back!!! :-)

Enterprize...doesn't matter which one.

Up, down, up down, up down....and not in a good way! ;-) These rides just make you think: "Ohhh, I wish I hadn't eaten that Burger....and that milkshake was a big mistake.....hey, I wonder what Candy Floss looks like on the way back up..... Ewwww, now I know!"!!!!

Log Flume at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

"Excuse me....are the logs supposed to sink after leaving the station?? You call that a drop...I've stepped off bigger curbs"! :-)

Top Gun at PCW.

Putting the Jerk into Ver-koma. Rough, rough, rough!!

Corkscrew at Alton Towers.

I know it's an icon for Alton Towers. However, that doesn't change the fact that it's completely outdated, uncomfortable, poorly themed and, most importantly, just not fun!!! Move over Grandad!

Python at BGT. See comments for Corkscrew! :-)

Ok I am going to get blasted for this but.

The Corscrew at Cedar point is outdated and just to short of a ride. I also think they need to tear down Mean Streak and start over with a great Out and back woodie somewhere over on the beach.

I also think that Bommerangs are outdated no matter what park they are in.

Viper at Great Adventure! Tear it down!

a lot of the Arrows built in the 80's and early 90's have NOT aged well at all. Anaconda has a great first hill and pretzel, then the rest of the ride is just CRAP. painful, stupid, and too slow, after coming to a near dead stop at the midcourse brakes.

i agree about mean streak. it's slow, rough, boring, and covered with brakes! tear it down and start over. =(

Shockwave at PKD, the Togo standup. it's unique, yeah, but really not a very good ride. they've probably got room for a little B&M floorless there.

poor drachen fire ... a worthy ride gone, while these crum-bums live on.

You have to be kidding, Rock N Rollercoaster is great. I found it really smooth (seriously). I think some of the SLC's should be scrapped (T2 comes to mind) and possibly BGT's Python.
Willh51,

Hmmm, perhaps I was just headbanging to the Aerosmith tune then! :-) NOT! :-)

I'll give R&RC it's due: the launch is great and the first inversion is interesting, but the rest of that coaster just didn't do it for me; I thought it was very average. I rode it at the end of the busy summer season, which might account for the roughness...perhaps it just needed some TLC. However, I still think this coaster is a below par ride for Disney, particularly when you compare it to its neighbour: the absolutely wonderful Tower of Terror.

Hi all,

Just thought of another one: Skyrider at PCW. Another coaster that is showing its age! Not PCWs fault, they just invested in an early and unremarkable example of a stand-up coaster and have been left behind by developments in that genre of coaster. It's time to replace it.

Iron Wolf,enough said.
Psyclone at Magic Mountain. Knock it down, light it on fire and we can break a record for the worlds largest weenie roast.
I completely agree that Mean Streak should be torn down. I get no enjoyment out of this ride.

A nice new out-and-back wooden coaster seems like a good idea to me, and it would still fit the Frontier Square theme.

And this time, Cedar Point, don't worry about breaking records. Just focus on creating a fun ride.

Great American Scream Machine at SFGA and VIPer at SFGA. I also tear down Hurtcules at Dorney park. Cedar Point could take out Cork Screw and Transpoft. Some Vekoma SLC or old Boomerangs are very rough and could use a tear down.

I guess I must be in the minority, but I found Psyclone to be a smooth ride when I rode it. I guess that I must have caught it on a good day. If you want rough - ride the Boss.

Hercules at Dorney Park is so painfull, and slow! Painfull, and fast, and you have a good woodie, but when your not even going fast, and your getting hurt its no fun. I think it needs new trains, and no trim brakes. They have the money to fix the ride, it would be well worth the invesment. A line would actually form. I remember someone calling it Hurt your knees...
I'm going to have to agree with RCT Master and say Viper at SFGadv.

SFMM's Flashback, demolish it!

Past, Present, and Future? Holiday World holds the past and the present, Cedar Point holds the future!

I think PKD's Anaconda's time has past. It's tracks terribly, comes to a near dead stop in it's mid-course (but so does the only other steel coaster with a mid course brake..)..and really does shine in a park with much more thrilling steel rides. Tear it down, clean up the lake..and put whatever they decide to name Top Gun in that spot.

And Shockwave stays.

Elsewhere, I think Hershey's Sidewinder and Trimper's Tidal Wave could stand being replaced.

The only other steel coaster with a mid-course brake? What are you talking about? Hmm. Last I knew coasters like Raptor, Kumba, Hulk, Kraken, and various others have mid-course breaks as well. Care to explain?

Whenever you can ride a roller coaster and experience 15 spots of intense airtime, you know you're on a good coaster. (see: Phoenix)
I'll let you guess mine.

I hate Mean Streak.
