Renegade opening??

I'm not sure where you mean by "covered bridge." Where abouts in the park?

Make sure to lick the butter off the knife from the DULL side... ;)

Have a great time, Renegade riders! :)

If I am remembering correctly, the covered bridge is past Corkscrew but before the entrance to High Roller. It is right past the kids area.

Edit: You can see the covered bridge in this photo under the first corkscrew on Corkscrew. http://www.coastergallery.com/2000/V41.html *** Edited 5/11/2007 6:14:51 PM UTC by RavenTTD***

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

Now it looks like my roommate wants to go on Sunday so I will probably be solo tomorrow although there is someone who said he might want to come. I will be wearing a dark red Hades shirt.
Okay...

Raven is correct.

Red Hades Shirt.

Lick dull side of knife...

Got it! Thanks, Gator.;)

Men-yan-nah!

Thanks for another great season, VF!

Check out the new news posting here if you have not seen it. Also another random quote I have read of this ride is, "nonstop, fast paced, and gives a ton of unexpected airtime".
Hope you all enjoy the ride! I can't wait to get on it myself. Take care of the trains...
The article came out in the Trib this morning. They just quoted Alvey but it was a good article. There are more reports of this ride I am reading online since employees got to ride last night and they are glowing. 2.5 more hours...see ya there!
I just got back from the park. I got 7 rides on Renegade 3 back, 2 front, second and third seats. First let me say this is not as good as Thunderhead. There is air throughout the ride but it is all light floater air. It is just strong enough to be considered good air, but just barely. However there is a lot of it. The constant action and changing forces is a great thing about this ride. It is always doing something and there are no dull parts. The ride picked up speed throughout the day and was certainly better at close. It is also a little on the short side, but not too bad. It is certainly the best ride in the park and may make the bottom half of my top ten woodies somewhere when I have more time to think about it and ride it. I also anticipate the air getting better throughout the season as so many other woodies have in the past. Maybe then I will rank it higher.

We definitely thought the front row was the way to go. That was fun. What were your thoughts as to which part gave the best ride? I think Renegade's strength is the banking on the turns. It was incredibly smooth. I loved that part of it. I agree that I wish it was a bit longer. Size does matter. ;)
I do like the front better but Scott was the only one I found that agrees with me. It seems most enthusiasts seem to like rear seat air even if the front has more. The back is a wilder ride, but the front has more air and that it what I like best. I was thinking about what the best part is and I think the coaster blends together very well...it is all good and nothing stands out too much over the rest. In the front I like the second hill and in the back I like the first hill. The turns were smooth and the high ones had air entering and exiting which was a plus.
If it wakes up a couple months from now like Voyage did, It should be damn good considering your review.

Chuck

It is damn good now. The coasters I like better are all top notch. There is nothing we can do about the length, but with strong air it is will be very very good. I like this better than rides like Boss and Cornball, but not as much as Hades, Voyage, and Thunderhead. I am up in the air right now comparing this to Legend. *** Edited 5/13/2007 1:38:35 AM UTC by RavenTTD***
I thought it was better than Hades, and Thunderhead. (Haven't ridden the voyage)

Renegade is a huge addition to Valleyfair! It's already become the park's signature ride after one day, and is generating alot of publicity. Ah, the smell of fresh wood on opening day. :) It will be very interesting to see the attendance figures for 2007.

I was talking to two of the guys from GCI while waiting in line for High Roller. I think the Jeff I was talking to was Jeff Pike who was the designer of Renegade. Nicely done, Jeff!

Nice meeting you guys today! I look forward to checking up on your new toy later in the season. It's too early to give Reney a fair review. I'm sure it will get much better as it breaks in, but right now it's fairly "middle of the road" for my woodie rankings. I'm not sure if I prefer it to Rumbler or not, but it's definitely on the lower end of the GCI spectrum for me now that I've ridden all of the US installations.

If anyone is going to travel much of a distance to visit Valleyfair, I highly recommend you wait until the ride has had time to break in. It should be a much better ride after it's been running for a few weeks, let alone at the end of the season. I'm guessing this ride will be one of the best GCI's once it picks up speed.

See you all in July at Coaster Craze!

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

It was nice meeting you too. There is a POV up at TPR now if anyone wants to see it. I have not been on all the GCI's but I did like Renegade better than Roar East, LR, Gwazi, and Wildcat.
Oh god. Coaster Craze is going to be insane.
I just got back from riding it again today. It was actually giving more air. I hope this trend continues.
