Power Dive @ SFGAm

I think GA needs some more flats. With the removal of Power Dive and Cajun Cliffhanger, not to mention the rides that were removed to make room for DV. Hay Bailer and all. Hometown Fun Machine , ect, ect......... Oh well what are you going to do.

The hometown fun machine is still there isnt it. I'm pretty sure it is. I do agree that Great America needs to get some flats, and some darn good ones at that.
Anyone for a Mondial Topscan?
Good idea. How about a recent arial view, that would help. Anyone have one?
Well, I think that Power Alley will be gone this year also because I heard of a ferris wheel going up. What a load of crap!

X Somebody:

Would you rather have a ferris wheel, or some stupid game sitting there. Plus we don't know for sure if it will actually be a ferris wheel. Although it possibly could be because the closest thing they had to a ferris wheel was sky whirl, and that has been removed....well, we will just hace to see what they do.

Actually, I'd rathr have the stupid game. I despise ferris wheels and belive that George Ferris was the direct spawn of Satan for developing such a device.

but I'm weird that way :)

I kinda dont like both POWER ALLEY and a ferris wheel. I LOVED the Sky Whirl though. I hope they re-build it.

Also, please just call me X.

I looked over there during media day and Power Alley is gone.

Well then put it this way: IF they did happen to construct a ferris wheel, how many of us coaster Fanatics would actually ride it? To tell you the truth, I basically go there to ride the coasters. Very seldom do I ride many Flat Rides/other attractions. I'd estimate about for every 2 visits I will have ridden 3-4 other attractions besides Roller Coasters.

So basically to me, I really wouldn't care what goes there flat-ride wise, and I know there is no coaster that will fit in that area.

I am kinda hoping of another ride similar to THE EDGE that ran there. Well, maybe that ferris wheel will go to replace POWER ALLEY next year.

I think they should put a Mack Wild Mouse coaster where Power Dive was. One thats runs just like the Hersheypark one.
I've been waiting for a wild mouse coaster for years! Lets just hope.

Let's not. A park of SFGAm's size in the third most-populated area of the country absolutly does *not* need another ride with crappy capacity. There are plenty of better, high-capacity family rides out there.

What is this fascination with wild mouse coasters anyway? I think they're crap.

My limited experience with a Wild-Mouse type ride (one spin on Wildcat at CP!) would lead me to believe that any modern mouse wouldn't be worth its extremely low capacity.

Maybe some of you go to Great America just to ride coasters, but I personally go there to have a good time. That means riding a lot of coasters... but also doing other stuff. Of course, it's all good with me, whatever you do... One less person in fromt of me for the ferris wheel, if that's what we get (which is what I'm hoping for, personally. I really do mis Sky Whirl, and I think Power Dive's former locale would be a great spot for one).

I hear America screaming...

You can think what you want...I think that Wild (and spinning) Mouse coasters are great family fun- look for example at "Exterminator" at Kennywood. True they are not the Ultra tall, ultra fast coasters, but families are where parks make money - not us enthusiasts who have multiple season passes...

I never said the park shouldn't get a wild mouse because they're not "huge and tall and fast and intense." The reason I cited was because capacity for those rides is just crap. The Reverchon mice have a *maximum* capacity of 600pph. Mack's ride has to run no less than *ten* cars to achieve a decent capacity (and no park runs that many cars on a wild mouse). The capacity on Arrow mice is really no better. Like I said, one of the most popular parks in the country does *not* need a wild mouse. It's that simple.

That said, I still think most mice are crap. Exterminator is the obvious exception because it's extremely well done (and Reverchon spinning mice are decent) but I've never been surprised by any other mouse. For that reason, I don't understand why enthusiasts whine about wanting a wild mouse. Of course, enthusiasts also whine when their park *does* get a wild mouse, so I guess that's how things are.

There are still at least three better family coasters out there than a wild mouse that many children find too violent (lateral-wise) to be fun.

You will when you're waiting in a three hour line...
Ignoring the ridiculous loading procedures SFGAm has on Deja Vu, the ride has the potential to crank through over 750pph. That's not a great capacity, but it isn't terrible either. However, notice that what I said was that SFGAm, one of the most popular seasonal parks in the country, does not need *another* low capacity ride. We already have Deja Vu and V2, and they're problematic enough.

I also never stated that SFGAm doesn't need to install attractions that appeal to the whole family. However, there are at least a few better choices than a wild mouse (a regular Mack spinning coaster, for one) in terms of capacity and overall appeal. I just don't get the appeal of wild mice, *especially* in a park of this size.
