Popular coasters that you just didn't "get"

That's funny, I feel your pain, and I understand where you're coming from. A trick I noticed that usually works with any lapbar coaster is, that if you put your feet on your tiptoes when sitting down, it makes your legs stick up an inch or two higher, not allowing the lapbar to be pushed down so far, thus sparing a couple of inches. Also, kind of off the subject, but a trick that works with the Freeway at Cedar Point. When the person that stamps the black stamp on your hand, slightly move it away from him, but letting him barely touch your hand. This makes the stamp really light, and doesn't even look like it was stamped.

I rode Magnum 5 times in the course of 2 days and not once was I fascinated by the experience. You are telling me that I would have to ride it 5 more times over a longer period of time, even though I am 8 hours from the point, before my opinion of it not being 'all that', is justified?

I never said anyones opinion isn't valid if they only have ridden a ride a few times. Just that the opinion is not based on a lot of experience, and *may* or may not change over time.

For me, I didn't 'get' the 2nd half of Magnum when it was first built. But after many laps I now really enjoy the bunny hops.

The bunny hops were not that bad. They were the best part. I think part of my problem is that I feel it is a rough ride. For as fast as it goes and as high as it goes and based on Arrow's history, I did not feel too safe on it, especially since every time a new train unloaded, another section of seating was blocked off because of a malfunction.
I find Magnum to be my number one. And this season it is running as good as any in recent memory. I like seat 1-2 the best. Shorter line and easier on the thighs. But to say that there is no air on hill three is a complete lie. I will admit though, that there are days on the magnum that are underpreformers. But for the most part i have great rides.

I can't really think of a ride that is very popular and i couldn't see where it got its reputation. Even if i didn't like it as much as others, i can see where the popularity is. The closest thing i have is thunderbolt, which i still reguargd highly, but will never put it on any of my top lists.

I just rode villian and I loved it. It was intense great airtime for me and some OK laterals.

MF did very little for me. I hate to say it but I have to. I guess I caught it on a bad day. The drop was awesome but the rest of the ride was boring. I got no airtime after to drop, probably because of CP's ride OPS jamming it down on my crotch so I could not move. I don't like overbanked turns at all, they take all the lats out of turns.

Biggest letdown I've had to date was probably SROS at Darien Lake. When I visited the park last summer I had been excited to ride it for weeks. What I found was a ride with way too much time spent in helices and a couple of hills and straight pieces of track between. The last few bunny hops were great, but they didn't make up for the rest of the ride.

What is wrong with you people? Dissing coasters left and right... Actually compiling lists... (Medusafanatic, wtf?)

I love every coaster I get the chance to ride. I don't care if it's an old Arrow looper that beats me up, or an ultra-smooth B&M floorless bereft of intensity or G's... I still love it.

I think that some of you are literally trying to add shock value to your posts by claiming that you don't approve of some of the most stunning coasters on the planet (Millennium Force & Goliath to name two). Then again, some of you are simply too nitpicky about forces. And others... why exactly are you browsing coasterbuzz.com again?

Couldn't have said it better myself, IslandKG.

TOGO!

I have a hard time believing that some of these people have even ever been onto any of these rides. Because they're bashing the best!!! I just wanted to let X to the Extreme know that X is a ZERO in my book, its just my opinion, I had a rough and incredibly short ride and It wasnt worth the wait for me. And whoever starts bashing Cedar Point, either you never been to the park or your missing half your brain.

I love all rollercoasters I can ride but the three "popular" ones I didn't get would have to be Magnum, the Raven and Batman: Knight Flight. I don't hate them or anything like that. Perhaps my expectations were high for them or that others that I have ridden in their respective category were far better. I would still ride them though, no matter what.

381 rollercoasters and counting. . . counting down for me to come back home to America. :)

I really dont like Ghostrider...Nothing special about the ride but roughness.

I don't get the " Firey Fist O Pain" coaster craze..

I rode Kingda Ka, I thought it was kinda "blah"

Seriously...how does this even happen?

^^ blame the new guy, who wasnt sure whether it was more annoying to start a thread about something that was already covered before, or to bump an older one.

Every time it does, I lol myself into exasperation. Seriously.

It's be fun to see if I posted in the thread 8 years ago, and see if I still agree today...

Edit -

...Okay. I didn't get SOB, which hasn't changed. I get magnum, which hasn't changed.

And I get Millennium Force, which hasn't changed.

What has changed is that I think MF is the perfect coaster, and the greatest ride in the universe.

That was fun!

In 6 years, I'm sure there are a lot of new people here and a lot of new popular coasters that people didn't get. If billb7581 had started a new thread, no doubt somebody would have jumped down his throat that there was already a thread done about that.

If it's an old thread, just don't look at it if it bothers you.

At first, I was wondering how a thread here got to 158 posts in the less than 12 hours since I last was on CBuzz that wasn't related to Magnum finally sinking or something like that. Then I looked at the date of the first post.

I don't get the love for SheiKra or the Schwartzkopf looping duo of Mind Bender and Shock Wave. I think with SheiKra it's due to my love of intensity, and I find SheiKra to be pretty graceful. With the other two, they're both good rides, but I just didn't find them to be overly remarkable.

I'm sure there are more rides, but those 3 jumped out at me.
