Paramount's Kings Island today announced the removal of WaterWorks, the park's 15-acre water park. Its last day of operation will be September 1. The press release quotes general manager Craig Ross saying, "Our guests are in for a real surprise next season."

I also heard from an attendant at the park that they own a couple hundred acres of forest at the far side of the park (behind the Beast, Vortex, etc.) which would also allow for a large number of new attractions.
Secondly, I wouldn't bet the farm on a Roller-Soaker. With 4 suspended/inverted coasters in the park already, I doubt that they would add one. I wouldn't totally eliminate the idea, I just find it extremely unlikely.
One of the biggest things people forget about why WW is so spread out is due to the fact that there are huge power lines/towers running right through the middle of the park. And the last time I threw my plugged-in toaster into a bathtub, well, let's just say it wasn't pleasant.
I think they'll just up the amount of attractions they have at WW, rename/theme some of the existing ones, and give the place a new name. That's all.
It doesn't matter to me one bit though, since I never used Waterworks at all.

Sounds to me like it'll be a much more enjoyable place (not that it wasn't already).

Regarding the notion of ditching the existing park, I remember going about 13 years ago and thought it was nice, but nothing spectacular (having just been to Typhoon Lagoon that week). It's an old park with very standard attractions. Holiday World and many of the Six Flags parks have much better parks.
That alone wouldn't be reason enough, but the fact that these parks obviously generate a serious return on investment is. HW is an example, Great Bear in Sandusky, now CP wants a year-round park, Cedar Fair has several water parks in their collection. See a trend? PKI can broaden its appeal with a new waterpark.

Will PKI get something BIG in 2004? THEY BETTER BE!!!
On shaggys comment about Den's Sig...
"A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops."
Could that mean ONE WEEK untill the announcement?
I for one am excited about the obvious WW expansion / Revamp.... while i rarely use the waterpark, i know that this will probably draw a crowd away from the coasters inside the park for at least a while.... while everybody checks out the new stuff in WW. Well, at least thats what i hope.... shorter lines for all!

looking forward to what pki has in store for us in 2004..... and 2005.....

Anybody remember somebody saying "there's nothing going on back there. Nothing to see... absolutely nothing going on back there?"
