Shaggy & Sean - thanks for giving this thread a well-needed reality check.

Thanks for the response 'moosh.

I only have one question for you both:

WHEN WILL PKI BUILD A TERA?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Good question. The funny thing is, there are a few people that are certain PKI is building that huge giga/tera/moon rocket coaster for next year or the year after. Yes, I am sure they will get a coaster in the future, but I just hope people aren't disappointed because if it doesn't go 400 feet up in the air.

PKI has proven us that you don't need to have a record breaking coaster to draw crowds in. It may work with certain parks but it may not work with certain others.

Oh, and to answer your question? My guess would be the year 2145.......after all, by that time, a 400 foot tall coaster could be considered a 'junior' coaster and PKI is the "Kids Coaster Capital of the World". =:^)

Well, I see that people are just bagging me to come back and fight with thems, so here I am.

First off, Shaggy, you don't know me and I am sure you are happy you don't. Now, sense you don't know me, who are you to say what I will or will not say to someones face? Thank you.

To the other fellow that was in college in one time and all that other fun stuff. Hey, I understand business. I undestand all that you talk about. Just because I do not agree doesn't me I am ignorant and do not understand what you and the rest of people are talking about. Business or not.

Last but not least, Sean F.

Sean before this little comment, "Sean (who also has the strangest feeling a few people are going to be complaning when CP announces because it isn't what they wanted) F." I respected you. Yeah, I know it isn't a big deal but I did. Feeling that that comment was directed to me, I need to touch it. I have never been to Ceder Point. So, it wouldn't matter what they get. They could get a million flat rides and I wouldn't care. I would go up their and simply enjoy the coasters. They would be fun and exciting to me because they are new to me. The reason I want a coaster at PKI is because the others have worn out their welcome. I have ridden them things to death and after a while it hurts, physically.

Here is my buried on the 5th page "two cents":

First of all Shaggy, great post. It is very reflective and makes alot of sense. I have a great memories of PKI as well from when I was a kid. For years and years, enthusiasts have complained about the lack of Flats at PKI. PKI is now building flats. Everyone needs to remember that the more rides there are, the better the chance that the coaster lines will be shorter. OK, that doesn't work at CP...LOL. My wish list for PKI as always been a 200ft, long Steelie with many pops of air. The question is, will they "Brake it". Sorry, had to get that Beast slap in there. I would love to see some type of Mouse coaster. I would love to see a new coaster from The Gravity Group. I would love to see many more flat rides. Most of all, I want to see PKI succeed. It has always been my favorite large park. Now some gueses for 2003 Shaggy:

1. More reprofiling on the Beast to rid us of those nasty brakes. (ok this was just a dream)

2. Tunnels on Sonny

3. I suppose a large Frisbee would be able to be seen from The Beach Water Park.

4. Another path from Action Zone, somehow, someway.

5. Free drinks....oopps scratch this.

6. More water slides.

7. Maybe a surprise small flat or two.

These are my guesses Shaggy.

Sean, and Shaggy: I understand the business side of things, but as much as I love wood, it is time to break down and buy some Large Steel...LOL

Freedom of Speech

What are you talking about? Freedom on Speech. WHAT?!!? That right is not valid here. The government owes you freedom of speech. Not a website.

Sorry that was a mistake. It wasn't on purpose.

As far a freedom of speech not existing on this site...Ha! Go tell that to congress. This is no different than the bad ol' Johnny Reb's. They will throw you in jail for a little thing called treason.

EminEm,

Why the sudden name change? Maybe you're not supposed to be here. Maybe your account was mysteriously deleted and you decided to come back with a new name. Maybe that is a chilish thing to do. We should change the title of this topic to "pkifanatic is childish". You have absolutely ruined a perfectly good topic.

Not sure what you mean by that comment but from what I can tell, no one is wanting anyone to fight.

Last but not least, Sean F.

Sean before this little comment, "Sean (who also has the strangest feeling a few people are going to be complaning when CP announces because it isn't what they wanted) F." I respected you.

Perhaps you are reading too much into that comment. The entire point of that comment was to show in advance the whole point I was trying to get across. The only reason anyone has reason to be dissapointed with an anouncement is if they were expecting something more.

When Cedar Point does announce, I am certain that there will be people complaining that it won't be tall enough or fast enough. There always are. Those people have only themselves to blame for their negative look at a future attraction.

Yeah, I know it isn't a big deal but I did. Feeling that that comment was directed to me, I need to touch it.

Nope, it wasn't directed to you. Perhaps I am missing a post you did in this thread (I haven't read it all) but my comments were made to those folks that constantly want to bash a park because they didn't install the ride they wanted. I honestly don't see the point in it. That's all I was saying. If you consider yourself to be one of these people, then all I ask is to think about "the big picture" for a second.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to ride a brand new coaster at PKI as much as everyone here. Honestly, that would be awesome. However, I feel that just because a new coaster may not be installed is no reason to bash a park, on here, or by calling or e-mailing the park to show their discuss. A new flat ride can bring in the amount of cash needed for a future coaster. Any attraction could providing it is marketed well and welcomed by park guests.

These are just my views and I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but

I also would love to see a new steel coaster at the park. This is PKI after all, you don't know when, or where, they are going to surprise us next.

Shaggy, perhaps you could help me out with this. Who was it that said, "I think a lot of enthusiasts prayers are going to be answered come 20**"?

Shaggy - thanks for the reply...although hopefully you know I was really just being a smartass, as usual.

Sean F - of course people will complain about CP's 2003 coaster...right now that and the fact its from Intamin is all we really now for sure ;-)

CoasterDad quotes Kierkegaard, I quote CoasterDad....perhaps imitation is NOT the "sincerest" form of flattery....

P.S. School systems don't really approve of that whole "independent thought" concept anymore....just causes problems...;)

Enough pkifanatic (lower case)/ EmiEm (sic) bashing.

Back to the real topic. While I enjoy the flats at PKI and CP, it does seem that they need to update their collection. TR:TR was a great start. WoA has some newer generation flats (Time Warp and Eldorado Drive-In come to mind) but the other Ohio parks seem to be lacking. Flats are much more important to the GP than enthusiasts want to admit. You can see the whole ride (unless it's hidden indoors) and gauge your tolerance. They also provide thrills without huge lines. When was the last time you waited more that 15-20 minutes for a traditional flat ride? Capacity is a flat ride issue, but that is solved by a diverse, well placed collection.

I applaud PKI (and any other park) for moving towards the next generation flat. The Scrambler's a great ride, but have you ever seen/ridden Hammerhead at KBF? That ride puts Music Express and the like to shame.

BTW: I feel honored to be quoted by a fellow Floridian Buzzer. (Even if he is a Gator Fan! )

Dad....we also LOVED Eldorado....had a whale of a time quoting Cotton Hill (King of the Hill) talking about "my Cadillac car, Hank"....

Why am I led to believe, for no particular reason, that even though it IS "Miami Week '02 - full-scale Hurricane Alert", that Dad is a 'Nole fan....dunno, just get the impression he shops at Dillard's....ROFL....

I only visit Dillard's when they're having a Pete Warrick sale.

Actually, I am neither a Nole nor a Gator fan. Family ties (in-laws) point me towards FSU, but as a transplanted Ohioian, I just enjoy living in a state with 3 top 10 teams. I can't remember the last time Ohio State was a true contender.

Weren't we talking about Flat Rides, Roller Coasters, and PKI in 2003?

you mean "Free Shoes University", lol. Ya see, everyone complains about Spurrier NOT in the SEC, and about ALL the Florida newspaper coverage of the Redskins (awful colors), and about the NFL press all covering Spurrier, etc., but let's face it....there's one GREAT reason for Steve to get all the press coverage...he is *outspoken*. With all the "coach-speak" around, it's nice and amazingly REFRESHING to hear Steve *go off* about this or that.....it's FUN...(the point of coasters, football, etc.)....

Want a rollercoaster? Watch some college football....there's a rollercoaster!

*backs away from the football fans.*
rollergator coaster dad put down the remote and go ride somthing.

Its easy to be objective to my home park(S). Good bad and ugly its all there. Small or big. coporate or privately owned its all the same to me.

Alas, as Florida residents, we can ride most any day.
