Considering that coaster works only builds small to medium woode rides as of now, I find it highly unlikely that Storm will be coming to pki. also, PKI would never use a name as lame as that.

Well names haven't been PKI's greatest thing (SON OF BEAST) but usually they are named after Paramount movies, Is perfect Storm paramount? If so maybe his Storm guess is right?
Well why don't you people just ride to the top of the tower and move it yourself!:)

i thought son of beast was a great concept. I also think that there is no way in heck that PKI will get anything from coaster works in the next 20 years.

I really liked the name and idea for SOB. It made me want to ride it even more than if it would have been another name(I think?). Anyway Perfect Storm is a Warner Bros. movie. Maybe it's on it's way to Six Flags? Anyway, they're not the first Ohio park to use two similar names. IMO, Busch parks come up with the best names(even if you have no clue what they mean). ;)
Storm a lame name? Kings Island is not exactly at the top of the list when it comes to exciting, origianal names.....Beast, Beastie, Son of Beast (never mind what SOB stands for!)
What chain park(minus Busch) has original names? Just to narrow down to Ohio-Cedar Point(7)-Mantis, Magnum, Raptor, Gemini, Disaster Transport, Iron Dragon, CCMR; PKI(7)-The Beast, Adventure Express, Top Cat's Taxi Jam, Face/Off, King Cobra, Rugrat's Runaway Reptar, Flight of Fear; SFWoA(3)-Raging Wolf Bobs, Batman Knight Flight, The Villain. And the Beastie, Beast, Son of Beast thing is pretty cool IMHO. It's not like they couldn't think of anyhting better. It's a great marketing idea at that.

The Beast, Beastie and Son of Beast, create a common theme for PKI. If you think about it, they tie the whole park together. The Beastie is in Hanna Barbara Land, The Beast in Rivertown, and Son of Beast in the Paramount Action Zone. Today, PKI was open for school field trips. Did anyone go? If yes, how far has demolition of KCKC progressed?

Paramount`s Kings Island-something big is coming for 2002, the park`s 30th anniversary!
It might be storm because they do name all of their rides after movies and perfect storm was a sucessful movie made by paramount, I think. I do though have my doubts because they just added a wood coaster. I think they are going to add a steel hyper or giga.
For the second time, Perfect Storm was a Warner Bros. movie. Maybe it will go to Six Flags(WB) or IOA(X-Men)?

Has anyone been there today 5/18? How much has the Vortex been painted? Is all of KCKC gone this weekend?

I am pretty for sure the construction would be done by done on kckc. When I went a few weeks ago they were making headway.
I walked around today(no riding, too many preteens), and the Vortex structure is 95% done. There's just a bit left to do. KCKC is completely out of sight. The only thing I saw was the shack that was under the lift and the concrete pads for the stationhouse. It will most likely be after July 4th until we see any more construction.

As of May 27th, there was nothing left but the support building from under the lift. All of the concrete footers and slabs were removed. No equipment remained at the site and with the rain we have had the last two weeks the area was a huge mud pit. The conductor on the train was even announcing the new attraction would be mud wrestling.
On a side note, does anyone know what is going to happen to KCKC? Is it going to another park, or will it just be scrapped?
This really must be a massive expansion or a huge ride going in. KCKC took up a lot of space.
From what I saw from demolition, KCKC is gone for ever as they pretty much tore down the ride in the easiest way possible, without trying to save it! I can`t wait to find out what PKi is doing for 2002!

I know this is a topic from way up the board, but I was at PKI today, and I swear I didn't see any colors on Vortex other than the traditional Blue and orange! Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough.

We are the ones who wait in line for hours for a 45-second thrill, and consider it time well spent.
On Sunday, A large section of Vortex was still in need of painting. Mainly the lift and first turn around was not painted yet. They did have the supports that were accessible to the public painted(the ones located along the path from Rivertown to Coney). I might add that it looks great to see it is true blue once again. They have only painted the supports blue and have not yet applied any orange to the rails. It looks great so far even without painting any of the rails.
Closed topic.
