Is there clearing or thinning out behind and to the right of Tomb Raider that wasn't there before?
also, check out these pics from today. Seems there is 4 or 5 other footers on the midway we hadn't seen up until today(credit goes to flightoffear499, hopefully he doesn't mind me linking to his pics):

Then later when we took the elevator up the tower, after his speil the operator said "does anyone have any questions?" And before a woman could even get out of her mouth, "what are you building there?"
He replied "a garden" :)
Priceless!
Still don't understand why, with all the land that KI has they keep taking stuff out to put new stuff in? That pond and the beautiful trees was always so nice, especially the HUGE hanging plants that were always there.
1st coaster trip was fun but have to admit losing my fav coaster buddy hubby till September sucks :(

OMG, Come on guys, Pile on, She agrees with me!
Anyhow, Stoped by for two hours after work, Got a Sonny, Flight Deck and double Beast ride to end the night. Looked about and they did spend a lot painting, renaming ect. Also the park looked a lot nicer landscape wise than normal opening the last ten years.
The area cleared really isn't gutted nearly as bad as the pictures make it. It's clear the lake will return. It's still weird being able to see the back of the Dick Van Dyke Showplace.
I walked right past the footers at the Crypt Entrance and didnt even realize it till after I had passed them about a hundred feet.
Chuck, noticing some things I like about CF is ride lines don't close till closing and generally clean park.
P.S. Beast was kinda rough up to the midcourse but its the first time in ten years The second entrance to the helix hasn't had a major bobble.
The clearing behind he former TR has been there ever since KCKC was removed. Nothing new. The smaller clearing near the train tracks is new, and there's a flurry of survey flags there.

We rode the Red Racer (restored to forward) to see what that was like and once again, a great ride. I noticed quite a bit of re-tracking throughout. Fast, smooth, and no potholes.
It looked to me like the new coaster is in just the right place. I too am sure the lake will be back, maybe just a slightly smaller version. The brake run and station is positioned more toward that long time empty spot formerly occupied by the Dolphin show, so it's actually quite a bit away from the water. Just right for a splashdown effect. It was fun to see the new "plant stands" in Rivertown, too.
My overall impression of KI under CF's watch was favorable, and I was pleasantly surprised. The park was spotless, and the grounds and landscaping seemed clean and new, especially for early spring. It was well staffed, and the food was good. I had chuckled at all the press release hype about bringing the park back to the way we remember, and all that, but I'll be darned. It almost seemed like a different place to me. It was almost- dare I say it? - charming!
They've got their best foot forward now, and I hope they keep it up. With these improvements and a chance to watch a new coaster take shape maybe I'll visit more often this season.

Old CF scenery with a newly-developed theming element?

Even though rumors are saying a B&M in the way of Goliath and the similar traditional coaster, is there any non-dive coaster out there with a splashdown (from B&M)? Could this mean that it is more likely that the new ride is a dive coaster? I'd be fine with it.
Also, Griffon is 205 feet and the rumored height of the new coaster is 225 (from First Drop). Wouldn't that make it the tallest dive coaster? This could be a great addition to KI and a huge attendance booster.

It's not.

It would, but it won't be.
