PKI 2003- Symbol on the Fence?

They only have 7 adult flat rides......top spin, troika, bumper cars, wave swinger, pirate, flying scooters and monster. Maybe i missed one. But that's a sad count compared to the park on the lake in northern ohio. KI has removed as many rides as they have added over the last 20 years, and the ride count is approximately the same as then. Kiddie rides are not flat ride. KI is fine for rollercoasters, water park and kiddie rides, and an execellent park if you love upcharge attractions. But for flat rides and shows, it is not nearly the park it used to be.

For picture of the construction fence around KC go to my site.

http://www.pkixtreme.com-2.net then go to "Multimedia" and then "Photo's" then "Construction 2003".

I took that picture on like Saturday 6-8

"I'm sorry PKI, a Scooby Doo ride??? Man, c'mon why don't they put a good BIG STEEL COASTER. Doggone, the got a damn JUNIOR INVERTED and stuff for the kids. And then they wasted their money on a Top-Spin with theming.(shakin head). They just took out a coaster why not replace with something better??"

It's called building a well-rounded park. Too many large corporate parks get caught up in the coaster count and neglect the smaller attractions that make up a true "theme park".

I have to take some minor offence at the notion that a Scoob ride would only be for the kids. I went to SFStL the other week and had a great time on the Mystery of the Sunken Swamp ride and saw *many* other adults and teens in the queue line. Everyone stepped off the boat with a smile on their face, and I think any park that could install a similar ride would be making a good decision!

I also think a Wild Mouse would fit in nicely in the old KC footprint. Capacity on the little guys isn't that bad, especially if you use the whole "cars never stop moving through the station" concept like Hershey and MA. I *don't* think PKI is going to invest a huge pile of money in a steel hyper when they just spent a truckload on SOB...maybe I'm wrong but geeze people, aren't some of you expecting a bit much out of the park?

I'm looking for more Huss.

I do, however, expect 2004 to be a big year.

I think in 2003 they should get a flat ride package and distrubute the rides around the park. Also they could stand to get a few new water slides. The last time they put something new in water works was wipe out beach several years ago. I have riden TR:TR and I thought it was better than what I thought it would be but I wouldn't wait in a line longer than around 45 min. for it. I think its a great investment for the park but i'm more in to roller coasters and I sure hope to see a B&M or Intamin hyper or giga in 2004. I do think that adding flat rides next year will be a disappointment for the general public since PKI has added so many big things the past several years. But they have to have a slower year every once in a while

This park could also use a continuous-circuit inverted coaster for adults (wanted to cover my ground there). What about an Intamin version. After looking at the fence photo, how are there any clues there? Jeff's right, it's just an Action Zone graphic.
I was thinking along the lines of an Arrowbatic...?

PKI is not the equal of PCar and PKD, so WHEN they get their mouse, it WILL be inverted.....remember, I know nothing, I just have a hotline with Miss Cleo...;).

P.S. Jeff Siebert did state pretty clearly that the dormant KC coaster will NOT be headed to Spain, so we're now accepting other guesses for the ride's new home....anyone?

You go to PKI. You go there to ride the one-of-a-kind coasters they offer. Are you telling me that if there are 4 hours left in the day,and youve ridden all the coasters once, you wanna go ride some flats instead of more coasters*execption-flying eagles&drop zone*. Even if they did have them,it would help the major rides lines very little or none at all. They need the hyper-giga.Look how pki would look to Cp-giga sfwoa-hyper sfgam-hyper kennywood-hyer. PKI GO big. and its been 3 years snce sob anyway so time is no biggie.

I have one thing to say. You just can't keep anyone happy.

First of all PKI is not focusing on the coaster enthusiasts, they are focusing on the general public. We are a small speck in a whole sandbox, people. Secondly, some people have said that the park is lacking in the flat ride area. Well this year we all know what the ride portion of Tomb Raider is a giant top-spin, (gasps) a flat ride. Now you are complaining that Tomb Raider is not a roller coaster. Which is it? Do you want PKI to get another flat ride to fill that void or do you want a coaster? To me I don't care what PKI gets because I'll always go there to enjoy the park and ride what ever they throw at me.

I arrest my case, your, Honor.

CBCon Quote "We didn't even get wet"......30 seconds later you hear plop, then splash!!!!

super7, you forgot the scrambler and carousel. That would make 9 adult flats. What does CP have, 12 or 13(Wave Swinger, Witch's Wheel, Chaos, Ocean Motion, Troika, Matterhorn, Scrambler, Schwabinchen, Calypso, Cedar Downs, Midway Carousel, Dodgem,...)? I could tell you a lot of parks that have less flats and even more parks that have fewer of the "different" types of experiences PKI does. Does CP or many other seasonal parks have anything like Phantom Theatre, TRTR, 7th Portal, a *free* waterpark, etc.? I'm only choosing that comparison since you were in the negative about the flat rides, so I wanted to show another area where the park is really positive at. Its really better to look at the big picture than say this park has this, but that one doesn't. I know I did it, but it was only to show another viewpoint of what you were saying and that each park is unique and better in their own ways.

I will agree with you again that more flat rides would be really nice to have and they could certainly improve on in the future, yet I don't think its anything to complain about or make the park seem all that bad.

I've not seen one of their big shows in a long time, so I really can't comment there. I do remember that their Nick Slime show is pretty cool, the country show is good, karaoke is always a blast at every park, and the Scooby show isn't half bad either. The Paramount Theatre is deservant of much better shows than they put in there though and I hope they find something much better next season if this one isn't very good.

Oh, anyone else still think the Premier liquid coaster rumors may return in the future? With their relationship with PKI, I wouldn't be surprised and certainly wouldn't mind. Our log flume has made a refocus towards kids, Congo Falls is just too short to be considered a great ride, and White Water Canyon is excellent for teens and adults, but some people just like the straight forward tracked flume type thrills for families(a word some enthusiasts dread about PKI ;)). I even think a Flying Super Saturator clone for Waterworks would be nice to have. More water anyways wherever they decide to put it.

I think KC is going to SFWoA. Once again...I *think*...meaning my opinion. Thank you.

O.K. I cannot believe you people are stil talking about the sign. "Huh what it is just the Action Zone logo...Ya Yuck!" Yeah, your right it is but whats above that in big bold yellow letters? "Please Pardon Our Dust." Holy poopstain Batman have we stumbled apon a clue? Maybe! So my guess would be it is something that might cause a dust cloud. Or maybe the name...A Tornado sturs up dust. I dunno but I think the saying has more to do with the ride than the stupid logo. All the logo tells us is that it is going to be something new. Something record breaking and something we haven't seen before. I mean all them things describe the rides in Action Zone. But yeah c'mn how could you miss that?

Also.

"aren't some of you expecting a bit much out of the park? "

Uh...brotha I dunno about you but I am dishing ou eighty bucks a year for this park so I want my money to go towards something new and exciting not a twirly bird thingy ma bob.

He he (I am laughing AT you, not with you). "Please pardon our dust" is an often used term. I've seen it countless times. One time I saw a sign that said exactly the same thing on a wall sectioning off half of the bridge over Dudley Do Rights Rip Saw Falls. Should I have thought that it was a clue that they where going to theme that side of the bridge to a tornado? Of course not. I allready knew from expierance that it was being repainted. It is a common term, especially at amusement parks.

If the symbol is in fact the AZ logo, then the wall has no clues to give us. If that is in fact true, we can dismiss the rumor that somebody who is close to the park ( I've heard a few different names in a few different stories) said that the wall has a clue.

I would LOVE to see some new flats, a hyper or giga, a liquid coaster, or whatever go into that spot. Knowing SOMETHING is going there is exciteing enough for me.

I am not an expert; Just telling you what I think.

One of the reasons I do not like posting online is because of all the people who think "Oh this park didnt get a coaster, they improved their family environment and put in something that fits into the area. For this the park SUX and I will never go to it again." So just think of the park overall next time, not just as a coaster enthusiast.

Look man, How do you know I've never been on the ride?? I rode TR:TR and it just didn't do it for me. I just was NOT impressed by it. All that waiting for a Top-spin ride that felt like 30 seconds. I can ride one at the State Fair and have more fun. That is my opinion about the ride, and I'm sticking by it. I just think for their 30th anniversary they could have did better. A think a good coaster would have been better. Like I said they just took one out why not replace it?? Doggone I say my opinion and people want to start crying about it. Did I say parks that don't add coasters every year suck? NO. IOA only has 3 coasters does that park sux? NO! Did I say PKI sucked? NO! I think they can do a little better though in their decisions. THey did so much, added a Junior Inverted(Still shakin head), and kiddle log flume ride. Now I think it's time for the Big boys again. Thank you very much.

1999, PKI put in Face/Off, one of the better shuttle and Vekoma coasters and an extremely intense and fun ride. Son of Beast is still the ultimate "big boy" wooden coaster in size, inversion, and speed which PKI delivered to us in 2000. Then, we practically received a whole new steel coaster in 2001 and one of the best loopers in the world when Flight of Fear was changed to lap bars. The coaster used to be passed by over and over because of its headbanging and now its a coaster people head to first because they love it so much. 3 "new" huge coasters in a row. PKI "skips" 2002 for probably the biggest theming project a seasonal park has ever attempted. 2003 should be a good year for every single person in the family to have something new and exciting to do(if its HGF, SDHM, and WWE or stte). SFKK hasn't even had a major coaster installation since Twisted Sisters in 1998. I still don't see much to complain about.

But if all that in four years ins't satisfying or "good decisions" from the park, they did add Drop Zone, still one of if not the best non-themed drop rides anywhere, Rugrats Runaway Reptar, a coaster that many enthusiasts even found surprisingly fun for its size and to be from Vekoma, WTRA retheming which was a second ride reborn for the 2001 season at PKI, and then there was 7th Portal, Smash Factory, and Meteor Attack new at the FX Theatre. What more can you really ask for from the park and what would your "better decisions" be?

Of course, we want a hyper giga tera whatever, and we want a 4D or a flying coaster and I'm sure in time the park will get one of these major rides, but between the times they can build rides like SOB, FOF, Face/Off, and TRTR(some people do love it), they're still trying to please as many people as possible, while running a good business, and increasing their attendance. The rides aren't built just for you, but for everyone. Imagine how disappointed some kids would be if they didn't have as many coasters or rides to ride on. Imagine how bad people who love water parks would feel if the park didn't care to update it and just left it as is, because they know its free and the people will come anyway. I can't even begin to feel for some people who love the extreme flat rides ;). And then you multiply that number by a thousand. Anything less than that is a waste of our time... wait, I think I went from Imagine this to Erin Brockovich.

Anyway, I hope you see where my side comes from and I understand you want to see big things at the park and everyone will get their chance. You just have to be patient and enjoy what's there for now. Try to enjoy TRTR for what its worth and I think you'll find a lot to really appreciate about its uniqueness. If not, that's fine, but I say give it another try when the lines down. A dark ride doesn't get near as extreme as that one. :)

I dont think the kids should have anything to complain about. They have the number one kiddie area by amusement today. Plus, as kids get older they will move on to the big rides, once you hit that spot there is no where to move up to so that is why we want more big rides. The kids area is by far the nicest i've seen and don't think any adding is needed for a while. The waterpark I think would be a good spot to expand next year. Along with a flat or 2 and maybe a mouse. That would be a slower year for them cause they have added 40 million into the park almost every year the past 3 years. If they don't do anything too big this year then they can build big again next. Of couse people will be un happy but can't please everyone. Water slides would not be that expensive compared to a coaster.

Beast_rocks, when I was talking about the kids area, I was meaning in general that it was a good idea for what PKI did in 1998 with the HB expansion and in 2001 with the Nick Central expansion. I wasn't meaning more kids stuff is needed for next year or anything. I would like to see a FSS in the future and Scooby Doo Haunted House shooter though. I think those are two things for the whole family which is excellent. You're right though, the big kids do want some new rides too. :)
