Photos from closing weekend show Impulse likely for Cedar Point beach

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

If you weren't convinced last time around, check out the photos from the photos from Cedar Point on closing weekend. The footers being poured suggest a series of supports and a tower support consistant with an Intamin Impulse design.

No, you can definitly not do that. That only comes once a decade. But when has CP ever backed down. Every other year since Magnum they have put in an awesome new unique ride. I know you're probobly right Jeff thats why I'm so dissapointed. You go to CP to get a new experience, but it doesn't seem like there will be a reason to visit next year. A bigger and longer version of a shuttle isn't a big deal as Deja Vu has already proved. Even some new flat rides won't mean a thing while other parks are getting 4D's, TA2K's, and CCI's.

Just so you know, from 1996(Mantis) to 2000(Millenium Force) there were no "super awsome coasters" built at Cedar Point.  Most of the coasters in the Cedar Point collection, total 8(9 if you count Gemini), aren't thrilling mega coasters, and I don't expect them to be.  I don't care if it's a Dragon Wagon, I just wan't a coaster.

I dont see why this is such a big deal. EVERY new coaster-type ride CP has put in since 1989 (save woodstock) has just been a "bigger version of an existing ride". Why should the impulse be any different? Ask a non-enthusiast who grew up with a B:TR and see if they dont call Raptor "just like Batman". And hey, if you REALLY dont like it, go ride Raptor or Millennium Force or Magnum instead. It isn't like they dont already have a bazillion things to do.

I said nothing about Raptor(actually I was supporting the impulse with an example) no need to lose steam.

Folks go here and check this out!  It says the plans that were purposed to Sandusky say 6 opp booths 6!  What could it possibly be?  A Double Impulse with 3 tracks per side (in the station) for loading, unloading, and Ride in Progess.

"Do you think this revised Impulse is likely to be the only thing they're building?"

GASP!!!!!! could this mean CP is getting two coasters :) :)

For one thing, V2 only seats 28 not 32.  I think it's un-inverted, dual racing and has vertical spikes only.  Their after height and speed here.  The twist reduces the velocity dramatically.  Look for a U shaped, launched MF.
By now i'm pretty sure it is over 300 feet tall
I've thought of an alternative to the height vs. speed...

People have said that a 450 degree tower wouldn't be much taller than the 360 degree towers.  Well, if you want to increase your speed and increase the height without increasing your intensity when entering the twisted spike, you just take your spike straight up till you'd be at a safe speed to start your twist.  This would work wouldn't it?

If they build another thing it will go back between meanstreak and gemini.
Hhhmmmm... this thread is starting to sound like a certain PKI 2002 anouncement back in July.  Come 6 months later, everyone will love the CP 2002 coaster.  Can't please everyone, but they do a good job of pleasing me.  :)

P>r maybe it wn't.  /P>
P>FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">I persnally think they will get the impulse with sme mdern flat ride/s (which i think is ne f the nly things besides gd wd cedar pint desn't bast).  Maybe a huss giant ride.  I think if they get tw casters the secnd wuld prbably be either wd r maybe a spinning wild muse.  I culd see cedar pint squeezing a flat ride in just abut anywhere they want.  A wild muse culd prbably g in just abut any area f the park....peple say they have land issues, but really they dn't.  They still have rm in the park and when that ends they can build rides ver rides...like blackpl./P>

amusementparkfanatic85, I believe your keyboard needs fixing. Any word that should have an "o" doesn't.
I for one would be tickled if CP got an impulse.  Then I wouldn't have to worry about going to SFWOA for anything.  (let the flaming begin)

God please let SFKK get something in 2002. ANYTHING!!
As for the comment about Lake Erie never reaching the new ride, I assure you it is possible.  Disaster Transport has flooded before, and it is farther from the water than the new ride will be.  The flooding did not cause any serious structural damage to the actual ride, although it did to the building.  Since DT survived the flood, I'm sure that the new ride will.  Disaster Transport is an Intamin as well, however we won't hold it against them!!!
How in the he** does those blocks of concrete make it an impuse.

I thought there was track or something there.. Jeeze Jeff.. ;-)

Cedar Point need a 4D/Flying Hybrid (can be done), an Impulse, and a Hyper-Twister like Raging Bull and you will have a "done" park.. Floorless is a inverted inverted again.. not that amazing..

"With the recent death on PP Knott's is pointing fingers at Intamin and Intamin is pointing fingers at Knotts. Could this and the pending lawsuit from the family of the deceased possibly sour the relationship between CF and Intamin?"

Are you suggesting that something that happened last month would eliminate something that has been in the works for (at least) a year? Who said anyone is sour? It'll settle out of court. Anyone notice the new sign in front of Millennium Force about the extreme body dimension warning?

To those who are disappointed, please stay home. If you can honestly go to any park anywhere and be disappointed when a park has so much to offer (as Jeremy mentioned), you're not an enthusiast, you're a crybaby. It's like the people who won't go to Magic Mountain because X isn't open. Like they don't have a dozen other coasters to ride. As if a park would suck when it "only" has a Millennium Force or Goliath or whatever.

And finally, come on folks... if it looks, smells and feels like it's an impulse, it's an impulse. I don't understand this persisting speculation about something as obvious as the nose on your face.

I think it would be sweet to ride an impulse 2.0 on the beach. Just envision that—over the sand! It will feel like running on the beach at an incredible rate.
After reading everything said here, I can only speculate one thing. It doesn't matter what kind of impulse (if thats truly what it is) that CP puts there. The reality is that it will most likely be something special and new. CP is notorious for being a cut above the rest and not being outdone by the competition. Over the last 10-15 years, they have proven it time-and-time again. I believe that they will continue to do just that.
I believe Jeff :).
Isnt Maggie still sinking? ;)

kidding..kidding..
